Thank you Eleicy for another lovely comment! Yes, Nature's beauty truly shines in such a beautiful and special place :o) Yes, that was a truly majestic tree. I loved it too! 😊See you soon 💗x
I saw a special on this a few years back. He saved the whole community by making it into a money-making proposition for them that preserved the historical artifacts and taught locals how to do jobs that would be needed to keep the place going and making money to stay alive. It breathed new life into that community and they even built housing for workers to live nearby. This is so much of what he engenders with his interests, but it is also much like other works of his The Prince's Trust, getting people learning skills to work and keep communities and industries alive. The program I saw that did film inside the house was on PBS here in the States or it was on TH-cam or will be on TH-cam by now, I'm sure. As I recall, they hold weddings and executive retreats and all sorts of events the public may want to utilize such a property for go on there regularly. As I recall Charles had Camilla's interior designer & antiques dealer sister, Annabel Elliot, work on the restoration of the house with him. She does lovely work in so many old homes. The sculptured beauty is so very different from the rugged beauty of the natural world of the Andes. I know they use garden products in the restaurant of the house and have guest rooms, if wedding parties want to stay there for example, and I would imagine visitors can stop in the cafe for refreshment. They try to make it work & teach & pay on all levels. Thank you. What a gorgeous day to share with you both in that part of Scotland. It is not as depressed an area as it once was.
Thank you so much for sharing this heart-warming story about Prince Charles's efforts to revitalize the community and preserve historical artefacts in that part of Scotland. It's truly inspiring to hear about how he turned the project into a sustainable and thriving endeavour that benefits both the locals and the visitors. I didn't know about it and I can't wait to look into it on TH-cam :o) now that you have brought it to my attention :o) . I only found out about this beautiful place through a programme on TV called 'Country File' and all the people on the tour (on the day) seemed to have been there because of this programme 😊 It's wonderful to know that the community has experienced a resurgence, with housing for workers and a range of events happening at the property. Again I wasn't aware of Annabel Elliot's involvement in the restoration but now that I know I will be looking into this. It must be so interesting! . Yes on the tour they told us about the amazing weddings taking place there :o) As you beautifully put it: 'it is a testament to their dedication to making it work on all levels'. Philippa, your message has made my day, and I'm thrilled to hear that the area is no longer as depressed as it once was. It's heartening to see how the efforts of individuals like (Prince) King Charles can make a real difference in the lives of communities. Thank you for sharing this positive story. See you soon.😘😘
King Charles saved the largest collection of Chippendale furniture from being sold off he stopped the trucks loaded with all the furniture at the last minute with a loan from his own money. He has really improved the community and giving hope to all the people young and old that reside there. What a wonderful thing to leave as just one of his ways of believing in the future of his country and legacy.
