Building a Savi's Workshop Lightsaber: How "custom" is my custom lightsaber really?

  • In this video, I will share my experience at Savi's Workshop in Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios. I will also cover the idea of the Star Wars "custom" lightsaber build, and whether or not what you end up with is truly custom. My hope is to share enough detail that you can make a decision on whether the Savi's experience is right for you.

      Do you think they might make new parts for them the light savers for next year?

    Number 95 is my favourite, looks really clean. I like how the design lines up and has the grip at the top. Can't wait to go and build my own later this year!

    Wow. I wouldn’t have thought it would be so many combos. I made a peace and justice this week.

      It is surprising how many combos there are. Imagine how many combos you could get is you could choose and combine scrap from all 4 sets.

    I built a Peace and Justice saber back in 2021 when I went for the 50th anniversary. I have to say I'm really not a fan of the 2nd Gen P&J and Elemental Nature compared to what was there previously. On the other hand, I think Power and Control and Protection and Defense are improved over their 1st gen Counterparts. I'm not sure I'll ever build another one but it was a really cool experience to do once and I'm happy with the P&J Saber that I built.

      Power & Control. 2nd gen does look great. I’m looking forward to getting the full set of scrap for that.
      The one thing that I would say is good about the 2nd gen P&J and EJ scrap is the addition of alignment stops.

    Thank you so much for this! I’m building my first tomorrow, and didn’t want to be overwhelmed by having to make a choice in such a short period of time. Now I can pause this and look at exactly what I’d want!

    Solid video. I’m heading to WDW in October and I’ve already started watching an insane amount of videos to help me choose what I’ll be doing. I think I will be sticking with the Sith blade. My only wish, which I know isn’t going to happen, is that I could grab 2 of the same sleeves to put on either end of the switch. Just to make it look more uniform.
    Either way, I can’t wait to get there!

    Even more combos when you can have two of the same sleeve. I know Gen1 you used to be able to buy extra bits og scrap metal, but im not sure if they do that for Gen2

      I’m not sure if they still sell scrap parts separately. That would add a lot more combos.

    Great video, I made number 85 a few weeks ago! My main complaint is that the new pieces don’t lock into place, so they end up coming loose when you spin the saber for a second. Shouldn’t be hard for them to do better with that

    • @primal-bits4777
      @primal-bits4777  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have noticed a little bit of loosening on upper and lower sleeves. I think it is due to the alignment stop on the second gen scrap. The first generation sleeves didn’t have the alignment stops, and would twist on tighter, but the visual alignment of different parts was terrible. It seems one problem has been corrected at the expense of a new one.
      One hack that can help is to add a little electrical tape in the thread area for the sleeves to tighten the fit.

    I agree totally. For me it was all about the Experience as it was my first time 2 weeks ago. But I also think Disney should have had at least 5 sets to offer on each tray because 2 sets is very easy to replicate during Savi’s Workshop Experience. And if your lucky to pull the Black Kyber Crystal (I did it in 2 pulls 😊) though it will be the same color and sound as Red Kyber than you further increase your variety for display purposes.

    • @primal-bits4777
      @primal-bits4777  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a really fun experience. I will probably continue to do it until I have all of the scrap metal. It is one of those things I can’t really afford to do more than once or twice per year though.

    I personally don't like Peace and Justice because it's kinda "saturated". We don't see other themes that much on movies, TV shows etc, so for me the other themes (specially Elemental Nature, which I did) gave me more of the feeling that I built a "unique" lightsaber.
    But Disney should have done more scrap metal for each theme. Few possible combinations for the amount of people that does the experience

    • @primal-bits4777
      @primal-bits4777  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Truly more scrap would be better. I’d love it if you had access to the scrap from all four sets. Forty pieces of scrap would really bump up the variety.

      @cthulhu5101 if you are referring to the video intro, please watch a little further. The video is actually a debunk of the idea that the Savi’s lightsabers aren’t unique, when they in fact are. I loved the Savi’s experience and have done it twice over the past year. I am a big fan of what Disney has done at Galaxies Edge, and the initial “whine” is just a setup for the video. No bashing of the experience was intended.
