Avanti needs to introduce one of these direct services from Hull via Leeds and Manchester Victoria to Holyhead, timed to meet ferry check in times to and arrival from Dublin on SailRail, without having to change trains enroute - aside from the high speed rail tunnel under the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin, if the Irish government decides to implement the EU climate change directives banning short-haul flights between the U.K. and Ireland, it might actually turn out to be a good thing, as it might also improve ferry connections from Liverpool to Dublin and improve connections and options from Dublin Port into Dublin City Centre

@@TransporterTonyI’m not really bothered about express or first class services, but they must be direct - living in Manchester 23 years and having family in Ireland, I’ve used SailRail services frequently and I have identified several areas of improvement on the Manchester, Holyhead to Dublin route - I believe that in order to become a viable and sustainable alternative to flying and air travel, the current SailRail product offering is in need of a major overhaul and this requires the Co-operation of both the U.K. government, the Welsh Assembly and the Irish government to provide best value for money for customers, especially given the proposed improvements on Irish Rail services - all ferry operators on this route, including Irish Ferries and Stena have a massive role to play in this also
