Just had same problem on my xl250s yesterday, looked at wiring diagram and saw that the regulator is not controlling the lights. The lights are fed from the lighting coil. I noticed My back light bulb had blown, after some head scratching and maths ( ohms law) i worked out the resistance with both bulbs working ,i wont bore you with the details, so all the current /voltage is going to my headlight and blowing the bulb, the system needs the tail light to work .I put new tail bulb in ,and the headlight is now working and not blowing bulbs.Hope this info helps.keep up the great videos 👍
Wow, How'd you figure that out?! My XL 185s has the same issue with the headlight. The brake light doesn't work. The tail light does though. Wonder if it's related? Tackle the brake light first???
@@huttsyvision7691 Make sure all your bulbs are the correct wattage and the wiring to them have continuity ,also ensure the side light in the headlamp works, all these together give the correct resistance to drop the voltage and current .
I replaced the rectifier under the seat. Still blowing headlight bulbs. The ground is good. All other lights are working including brake lights. What could it be?
I have 73 Suzuki TC 100 and in the wiring diagram there is a separate ground for an app to over charge condition for the battery which is also used as voltage regulator.
The headlight circuit is separate from the other lights , it runs from its own coil. The regular rectifier you changed is for battery charging circuit. I'd say its cheap bulbs
This week I'll strip all the wiring bare of its insulation start bike up bend the wiring at same time as revving a little to C where the broken wire is remember these r 40y old bikes beside from all new wiring it creeping all the way long bite by bit good Luke remember the fan on the moter keep it cool
@@djfaber at the moment it's working as the saying goes if it's not broken don't fix it if it happens again I will have to look more deeply into it just happy it's working

Thank you for that for the next time I come across this problem👍

Check the ground wire connections. If the connection is corroded it will blow the head light

@@andrewgisby4464 I think you are right
Do you know what make of bulb it is that doesn't blow and the wattage?
@@andrewgisby4464 To be honest , I think it was the bulbs all along.
Glad you sorted it, can you tell me which headlight bulb your using I'd like to get one for my bike

Failing battery?
Battery is absolutely perfect it's a mystery
