I would never have thought to pair sweet potatoes with stuffed cabbage rolls. I used to make cabbage rolls a lot as they were a favourite . My husband passed 6 years ago and my kids are grown and gone. I made cabbage rolls for dinner today and cooked sweet potatoes with it just to see how they tasted together and it was gorgeous! Thank you so much, it will definitely be a repeat in my house. I have leftovers safely tucked away in the freezer for another day. I really enjoy your videos. I am from Western PA originally, where there are lots of people who's families came from all the Eastern European countries. Everybody has their own variation of stuffed cabbage, and a different spelling for the word. My husband's family is from Slovakia, they call it halupki. I've never made them with sour cream or carrots, but why not, sounds good! One hint, before you put them in the pan, add some of the smaller loose leaves to the bottom, it keeps them from sticking or burning.😊❤
My momma taught me how to make beds that way too. Square corners make the bed look better so always said. My grandmother ironed her sheets too and her corners were very sharp

Hey Valerie 👋. When you and Tim get Granny's bathroom done it will give you two working bathrooms. That will be nice. Have you and Tim thought of renovating the master bath after Granny's bath? It will allow you to have two completed bathrooms. Afterwards you two can redo the main bathroom. It's always nice to have two bathrooms in working order incase someone gets sick. I remember having a stomach flu for ten days. If I wasn't in bed, I was in the bathroom. Thankfully, I had two bathrooms. Just a thought. Anyway, those cabbage rolls looked delicious. Hi Valerie, I think you need a better wisker for your kitchen aid. Those wires are not close enough and not enough of them. Great whipped cream. You needed to turn the kitchen aid up one notch more and leave it until you see it thicken and make fluffy peaks. A great way to test is take the risk off and hold it upright and look for the slow but stiff droop of the whipped cream.
Whipped cream (as a baker)...whip your cream on high with extract...after stiff peaks form, slow it down and slowly sift in powdered sugar to taste. ..perfection...if you want it to be chocolate whipped cream, add cocoa powder when you add the sugar...flavors are only limited to the extracts you own...
I make something. My dad used to call almost cabbage rolls…which in effect chopped cabbage up instead of rolling them out he used to flavour his meat mixture with picante sauce carrots cabbage rice and meat ( ground turkey) or beef! I usually serve it will baked or mash potato! I ask too lazy to good all that rolling up of cabbage rolls. I love one pot wonders!😊

Hi Valerie, I also make my bed the same way that you do! Also when your boiling your cabbage and it gets down to the small head I take that , chop it up in bite size pieces and sauté it in a lot of butter and onions then boil egg noodles and make haluski . Your home is coming along nicely!
I use tomato soup instead of tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce. Mine cooks on top of the stove. Also, Natasha's pasta e fagioli is the best. I make it every winter with artisan no knead bread. Yumm.

I do my cabbage rolls with a large tomato soup Cambell and a large tomato sauce. I make a great big roaster full, and I put some away in the freezer for later.

I remember my momma teaching me to fold sheets the easy you do we did it together at the laundry mat when we didn't have a washer yet it's a great memory I can't get my daughter to do it thou lol. I make this meal, but I chop the cabbage and put it all together with rice, served over boiled buttered potatoes. I call it unstuffed cabbage casserole. Its alot quicker from when I worked 40+ hours a week with 2 kids in school and sports.

Wow Valerie, dinner looked delicious! I've been wanting to make stuffed cabbages too, and I have a cabbage but it's too hot in the 90s for a week now and several more days to go so too hot to turn the oven on. When I prepare the cabbage head I cut the core out, then place in hot water on stovetop allowing the leaves to loosen. As the outer leaves loosen, I just carefully lift each one out with tongs and lay on a tray to cool down before i stuff each one. Don't know if any one does it like this, but it seems to work well. BTW would love to get a little glimpse of Granny and say hello to her from all of us!❤

My mom and grandma from Czechoslovakia would put the torn bits and pieces of the cabbage and put it under the rolls to keep them from burning.

Wow Valerie, dinner looked delicious! I've been wanting to make stuffed cabbages too, and I have a cabbage but it's too hot in the 90s for a week now and several more days to go so too hot to turn the oven on. When I prepare the cabbage head I cut the core out, then place in hot water on stovetop allowing the leaves to loosen. As the outer leaves loosen, I just carefully lift each one out with tongs and lay on a tray to cool down before i stuff each one. Don't know if any one does it like this, but it seems to work well. BTW would love to get a little glimpse of Granny and say hello to her from all of us!❤
You can cook stuffed cabbage in the crockpot or an instant pot.
