It's not just the poems that you speak out but the way you do it. You give every word something special. Everytime I stop watching your video I feel like I've somehow become wiser. Thanks for that!
Someone I loved sent me this 5 years ago, it kind of resume our secret relationship, intense passion and deep love. I had to leave her to live in the truth. It's only then that I've learn the hard way that true love cannot be erased easily. Sometimes I think about it and it reminds me of this poem, beautiful words.
Your work is phenomenal. You are so raw. Your words touch my heart and soul. I only wish there were more people like you in the world. Lots of love and light to you and your l family
This is SO good! I am from Argentina but speak English fluently and feel the same way - thinking about boys in Spanish is somehow different than doing it in English. I seem to save English for the sweeter, more innocent thoughts for some reason. I guess I've always deemed it a more musical language. Anyway, this is FANTASTIC! Keep at it!
I completely agree. I have been trying. Mainly watching kids films in russian, italian (I know not different) and chinese as my little one doesn't seem to mind or notice! I would love to learn more languages, my degree was french and german and I find it all fascinating.
I'm entranced whenever you speak french. I hope one day I can reach your level of fluency, but with the little i know I get what it means to think and feel in different languages. Its like a window into another way of thinking, and french is indeed a passionate language,
It's amazing that you're so capable of such well written, well spoken poetry across so many different subjects. Highly intelligent and creative, you're very much an inspiration!
UGGHHH You're so talented! You know how to write, you know how to speak, you make me feel things as you talk with the rhythm between your lips. Gurl, you're making it far. Love
This was great!!! I made me tear up thinking about how this is how I feel about my boyfriend still after all this time, and then the French came and I got all tingly and warm...and then the Spanish and I laughed so hard! I love you Hollie!
Holy Shit. Holly, you are an incredibly talented and inspirational writer, poet, woman. This piece had both me and my room mate gasping, giggling and shaking our heads in awe. That last line kills it! Never stop, ive subscribed and ide love to hear more of you. *respect*
I learnt about your work 3 days ago, you are such a breath of fresh air. I have to thank my mate Phil "Scooby" Chapman for sharing mathematics on Facebook. I hope there will be videos on the way but will be purchasing your work for myself and as gifts for people I know will appreciate it. Thank you.
It is quite interesting how we get embarrassed saying loving words in our language. For me Icelandic (speak Icelandic) it is easier to say them in e.g. English, French, Spanish, kind of makes it exotic, exciting, dare I say more sexy but when spoken in my first language it seems cute and I get bit embarrassed. Love your videos !!! xx
This captures something I've experienced so well. When I think of my boyfriend (or anything) in Thai then English my thoughts connote to overlapping yet distinctly different emotions, and same in conversation. I'm still trying to figure out of it's the language itself or what the use of that language means to me personally (because the Thai and globalised culture are so different). In the mean time I'll just enjoy this and all of your other poems. Also, fantastic last line. You are so great.
This is wonderful. I felt a little sad in the end, as it brought back lots of memories. If things had gone right with someone, it would've been four as French and English were not our mother tongues :) This made my day though, merci et bonne chance à vous!
I'd like you to know that we are an entire English class doing an assignment on this poem at the high school I attend. This is top quality stuff and very interesting.
Outstanding work! Found you through a post on Facebook about "Embarrassed" and now I'm hooked. Could you put the words to this one in the description box? I'd like to look up some of the French, but don't know how it's spelled. Thanks!
"When you ask me to get a drink at the pub, after 8 years I still get sick." I can't help but laugh out loud at this line. I know exactly how that feels.
oh Hollie MERCI! i knew just looking at the title that i was going to love this one... i can completely understand what you're getting at...except me et mon mec are both bilingual french-english (him more than me) so its much more of a clusterfuck. he has said the same thing to me about dirty talk, he can say anything without shame in english, things he would never say in french!! keep it up! I'll be keeping myself updated on your website: live dates, in case you ever come to Paris :)
Every single one of your poems make me tear up, you feel exactly what you're saying. What I love the most is you can go from English to French all you want and I understand ;)
Beautiful! How about 2(3) completely different types of languages? Like my first is Hungarian, I'm fluent in English as well, and now I'm learning Spanish... I find English rather technological, Hungarian touchy-feely and playful, and Spanish lustful and intense.
I live in Australia and while I am a native English speaker, I also speak Japanese and somehow everything is different when I speak in Japanese towards my friends in Japan. Japanese is confusing and while it isn't a "romantic" language unlike Italian, French etc, it's such a quick, smooth language and some words (in this case swear words) are more "funny" and short in Japanese and it isn't as "harsh" when you hear it unlike in English.
Hey, can you post the lyrics, especially the French part? I'm an American who never got to learn French.... :( (big fan BTW. trying to write some of my own stuff because of you)
Otra! Me encanta Hollie! It reminds me - I'm an English speaking Spaniard with a French Mother and I've always had a thing for a trilingual lover. You have three different ways para tocar, (touch, touche) and three different embraces for your boca, (mouth, bouche). Tres maneras diferentes so that you can see what I mean, trois nom differents that you can moan (pant, scream)...
I don't speak French but this made me smile. You will love Spanish, Hollie. It is sensual, like French, but different.
I'm from Mexico and I had never heard anything like this before. Glorioso, verdaderamente glorioso.
It's not just the poems that you speak out but the way you do it. You give every word something special. Everytime I stop watching your video I feel like I've somehow become wiser. Thanks for that!

I'm so glad I found you. I've never been so enthralled with spoken word. Truth.
Your work is phenomenal. You are so raw. Your words touch my heart and soul. I only wish there were more people like you in the world. Lots of love and light to you and your l family
You are so eloquent and admirable. Just brilliant.
i could listen to you all day, everything you write and say is out of this world.
This is SO good! I am from Argentina but speak English fluently and feel the same way - thinking about boys in Spanish is somehow different than doing it in English. UGGHHH You're so talented! You know how to write, you know how to speak, you make me feel things as you talk with the rhythm between your lips. Gurl, you're making it far. Love
I come back to this every now and then and it makes me want to get back to learning french every time. Just great.
You my dear are simply amazing! What a gift to the universe and you are just getting started.
Hollie, this is absolutely incredible. I'm speechless.
This was great!!! I made me tear up thinking about how this is how I feel about my boyfriend still after all this time, and then the French came and I got all tingly and warm...and then the Spanish and I laughed so hard! I love you Hollie!
