I have the champion dual fuel generator. Great little unit. I used it during Milton to top off solar power stations during Milton. Like you lost lights for a week. These power stations and generators are a God send during these storms. A must have in Florida. Thank you for the tip on the magnetic oil dip stick great idea!
Did the same on my hour meter. I put one on that shows rpm and after using for a while you can kinda tell how long it’ll run by the rpm it’s running. I change my oil way more often than 100hrs, it only holds half a court so I keep it fresh 🤙 awesome video mine is 4 years old and still works great. I always run seafoam in mine and starts really well.
Great job on the review and set up. I’m running my RV on the Predator 3500. 3300 hours and going strong. Only 2 issues were the start switch and the CO secure failed. I was able to bypass it since my since my Generator is over 80’ away. I did buy the extended warranty and will be returning in in the next month or so. This thing is so reliable. One tip is I have a ketchup/salad dressing bottle with oil in it so as the oil gets low I don’t need a funnel. Just a little squirt and it’s topped off.
I have been playing with the idea of some sort of rv for last 8 years ( retirement years) . When I retired, we gave our big old 30 year-old REI family tent to my youngest..( the one that camped the most). Because we KNEW that we were buying a rv… 😵💫 we have borrowed that tent at least once a year😵💫 Plus: Been staying in state park cabins and the lodges. But we are still looking . Keep going back n forth on a wee roll basic ‘shell that we would up grade . Or a small Nucamp tab 400… Some thing to live outside with but to shelter inside . For the first 4 years of my last 8 years of retirement I think we sold one of Bob Wells, cheap RV living TH-cam video. Plus a ton of others.. that was our TV watching. Rv shows , rv sales . Maybe in the next eight years will buy something. At 67 I had it with sleeping in a tent. I think. Thanks for the video John ( breaking in any new machine should be well thought out.

I have heard that synthetic oil is so good that it is better not to use it untill after break-in done.True or not I am not sure? any other feedback appreciated.CHEERS from HERE
@@darrylmcleman6456 that is a good question and one I’ve thought a great deal about. Breaking in a new GM crate engine I opted to use Cheap Napa 10/30 then changed it out after 2 hours run time. The reason I did is 8 quarts and filter were $100 bucks. But I could never convince myself that there was any other reason than to save $$ since I wasn’t going to leave the oil in the engine long. This little genny only takes 14 oz so I will get 2 changes out of one quart. Would cost me more having to buy one quart cheap and one quart synthetic, and I just can’t think of anything inside the engine as far as break in , that would need less lubrication.
I'll chime in here; as a certified aircraft and engine mechanic. I ENCOURAGE you to use REGULAR oil FIRST, then go to Synthetic. There are a ton of reasons but the primary one is to allow the 'scoring' with the rings (and all other components) to happen first and ensure the machine's working scope is 'broke in'. The only thing I would also encourage is to NOT WAIT to do the first oil change @20/30 hours, (that's just me) because you have all those micro-particulates abrasives in there causing abrasion to all surfaces. So for me, I change oils on new generator/air compressor motors around the 3 and 10 hour mark to ensure there's no excessive particulates. Everyone's got an answer but in my career, we work and are trained in how to preserve motors and the above method is just one person's input. But it has never failed me.
@@AXNJXN1 I understand the ring wear in theory but I just can’t buy into it. Synthetic oil is not some magical oil that has zero friction. It’s has the same chemicals that modern mineral based oil now include. Synthetic is just way more uniform ( molecules) and has much longer durability. Plus, all automobile manufactures are using synthetic oils from the factory and these engines are lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. Yes, it may take slightly longer for rings to set, but they still will set. So in a small engine with 14oz oil I don’t believe there is any value in purchasing a second quart of oil just for break in. But if I was buying 8 quarts along with a filter, then it would only be based on $$ decision
I agree. I couldn't bring myself to run the generator for 30 hours before the first oil change. I ran it for about an hour on standard oil and changed it. It had a silvery hue to it. I now have about 10 hours on it and I'm going to change it again, and I will probably use full synthetic this time.
