JD 50 Carburetor rebuild, will it run right now?

- My 50 had sat for 2 years, when we got it running again it was missing on a cylinder, so I ordered a rebuild kit from Steiner Tractor in Lennon, Michigan and began the rebuild process. Relying on the instruction sheet provided and a TH-cam video by Rachael Dingell on the subject we rebuilt the carb.....question is, does it now run on both cylinders like it should? Absolutely!

Realized I said #2 cylinder, I'm not sure if that is the right name for the right hand cylinder....but that's the side that did not fire on.
Steve I am so glad you sorted the problem, I am 100% sure no other tractor will ever equal the sound of a two cylinder JD, it is so special, it's like a Harley Davidson, thanks for the update with a very special video

Glad to see her running. I miss my 50. I promised my wife that when my Dad passed that I would sell the 50.After having bought the new Kubota. I had hoped that she may have forgotten that promise, but she didn’t.

Sounds good and looks good. I like it when they show their age and use. Not a big fan of new paint in most cases. The 50 should be a source of enjoyment for many years.
When I first got the 50 about 15 years ago I thought about painting it, but a fella I knew by the name of JR Hobbs, who was affiliated with the Gathering of the Green show told me to leave it as original as possible. JR is passed on now, but I’ve followed his suggestion

Looks like they have a lot more complete kit than what you used to be able to buy years ago. Few years back I sent my carburetor to sharps in Missouri and they rebuilt it and machined it and engine tested it it came back perfect glad yours worked
I debated which kit I needed, the $40.00 one or the $100.00 one. I knew it was plugged, not getting fuel to the clutch side piston, so I thought the basic 40.00 one should work. It was all it needed.

Looks good! I have never been a big 2cyl deere guy, but sure enough, they are kinda starting to grow on me haha! Our neighbors had a 50, we don't have the tractor, but we do have most of the implements that old 50 pulled.
I’d love to have a few implements for the 50, mostly a 2 bottom 3pt plow.

@@AnglesideFarm these old boys had a 2 bottom trip lift on steel for their 50. From the story's dad has told us about these guys I'm guessing that their 50 was bare as bare bones could get haha 😂

Doesn't have the 2 distinct cracks when it first starts. The neighbor's G, and A always started with 2 loud cracks.
