I recently discovered Tanya after years of only listening to gospel music. I saw "Send my floweres now" on google News. I have now listened to hours of her music, watched old interviews, and literally studied this woman. My husband recently died unexpectedly, and my world came crashing down. Tanya Tucker is helping me get through life with her songs. I cry, dance, and exercise to her songs and interviews. She also experienced grief and loss, and her voice reflects it. I have never been to a country music event but plan on going to one of her concerts. Tanya, I pray for your health and strength. This song and its performance move me to tears. On the surface some might regard this as another broken hearted country ballad, but as one who grew up in Texas, and traveled often to Laredo know that what she’s singing about cuts way deeper... Especially given the current news of our world...

@@urandras In my personal interpretation, I don’t think it’s about an immigrant necessarily, but believe it’s about loved ones who are separated from one another on opposite sides of the border. Laredo and Nuevo Laredo were originally one city, and remain inextricably linked with one another. Many will tell you that from a cultural perspective, south Texas and northern Mexico are really one. That said, as the border has hardened as a result of strict policies, and a multitude of factors in recent decades, a wedge now exists that wasn’t there for previous generations. I can’t speak for Brandi Carlisle’s intentions in writing this song, but for me, these lyrics speak to the feelings surrounding this issue.

One of the very few singers that never sound anything but timeless. Her voice takes me back to when I was a kid living and working on a strawberry farm in Washington State. My family were farmer's back then and I grew up with Tanya, Dolly, Kenny and Olé Willy.

I saw Tanya in concert about a week or two ago in Minnesota. It was more than a life changing experience, I’m only 19, and came across some really bad luck, But Tanya’s song give me hope.
