I was hanging out with my friend recently, I brought this movie up and he launches into a startlingly accurate version of this speech. I don't think he nailed every line exactly, but he had the whole thing and it was damned impressive.
In 87, Huey released this: Four - their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is 'Hip to Be Square' - a song so catchy most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends; it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
Classic man!! Shows, not only Christian Bale's amazing ability as an actor but also the terrifying duality and almost Jeckyl and Hyde nature of the main character. possiably the best movie scene ever! :P
I would've never thought that was Jared Leto. Everytime I saw 30 secs to Mars I kept thinking "man, the lead singer sure looks like the dude in American Psycho"
I watched this movie for the 1st time the other night....I will never be able to hear "Hip To Be Square" without thinking about this lol....this movie is so screwy, but funny.....in a really creepy weird way....
This scene probably didn't happen, because Patrick was just imaging it. Remember at the end (SPOILER), the lawyer told Bateman that Paul Allen was alive and he had dinner with him in London. We are witnessing the emotions that he felt.
There's only one argument that I would like to make about this fantastic scene, if Patrick would have beaten Paul with the axe blood would have also splattered on the wall as well and virtually stained it leaving behind evidence that he 'committed' the murder.
Christian Bale in one of the best performances of his carrier (amongst the top five of his life); I don't think it was Mary Harron's direction or adapted screenplay of Ellis' supposed masterpiece that in essence brought the best out of Bale (as a borderline method actor) - but Ellis' book itself - and Patrick Bateman (apparently one of the most psychologically and emotionally complex characters commited to the literary medium). I'm an aspiring filmmaker and I think I can make a better adapation.
Is that a raincoat?
Yes it is!
Pure comedic genius.
The best part is that he ad-libbed the dancing thing. It wasn't in the script or the original book.
how he says "yes it is" just makes me laugh.
And in this scene laidies and gentlemen, we see Christian Bale slowly and casualy turn into Jim Carry.
"Is that a raincoat?" Yes it is!"
Batman kills the Joker.
The murdering, Batman could tolerate. The rise to being more successful than him, Bruce Wayne should not. He finally snapped.
Okay Christian bales sounds like Jim Carrey in Bruce almighty in this movie..

No joke, I gave the Huey Lewis discography another shot after this movie.

this is what could've happened to Bruce Wayne if the trauma from the death of his parents took a... darker turn XD
pauls getting reservations at dorsia in heaven now.

Hey, Paul! AAAAAAAHHHH!!!
Bale based this character on the personality of Tom Cruise

That awkward moment when you kill someone with an ax everytime you hear Huey Lewis...
I would've never thought that was Jared Leto. Everytime I saw 30 secs to Mars I kept thinking "man, the lead singer sure looks like the dude in American Psycho"

It'd be so gross if they added the starved rat led into the woman through a habitrail thing part of the book.

Ed Gein would be proud.

Ok is it just me for from 1:08 to 1:28 does it seems like he is channeling Jim Carey? Just crazy. After that well he is just making a mess :)
