If u work for 1 hr what u will observe Ur self..loss of energy.. I.e,,energy = rate if doing work...u performed some work so that u lost u. Energy. In the same way electrical energy is generated or consumed.... So work is done...in electrical terms ,here if a fan runs means it has some energy that energy is rate of doing work..so product of both voltage current gives power and energy = power * time
Note an important point here... without potential difference no charges moves,, Flow of electrons is current but to move or flow this charges there should be some potential difference
