- Kanpachi Dori is a road that runs straight through the middle of Tokyo, littered with car specialty shops, tuning workshops and dealerships. One of those is J-Auto, an old school AMG specialist, filled with W124's and various other old school AMG's.

it made it nostalgic and a bit sad when you mentioned standing not far away when it opened in the 90s. I think it's because I'm now in my late 30s and realizing that you don't last forever and that many things from the distant past are long gone, but that there are those that survive like this shop and serve to remind us of what it was like then.
Same here. Also in my late 30s and starting to look so different on things now. Idk it’s maybe a kind of midlife crisis or just the age ?
@@lucabrasi8790, I think it is more reflecting on things being gone and that the older we get the further they seem away. Maybe that's what the mid life crisis is though... not the fear of age, but the sadness of days gone never to return.

@@DylanTK different levels of awareness about yourself and life for sure but midlife crisis is when you knew in your 30s nothing being permanent but years later realise how you didn't actually believe it until then.....

I’m new here, I enjoyed the video. This episode brought me back to 2006..when i was 23 and i bought my first ever W124 300CE 24V coupe…I will never forget those driving experience especially with “sport” manual transmission…I remember later in 2007 I ordered directly from Japan full widebody kit…from the company named “VITT” it cost me a fortune but the plan was to make my Mercedes looking similar to “hammer” look..Regrettably the car was sold out later in 2009 (I was young and the financial part wasn’t that strong) and then the widebody kit was sold 11 years later in 2020…I miss the car even today..❤ Subscribed.
Awesome video man. Thanks so much for sharing. The edits and music were on point. I love the older amg's. They just have that muscular & classy look to them the new cars don't, and still plenty of power to have fun with on the road. I have a 1999 W210 E55 myself, but would love to try out one of those 6.0's or decked out 500e's. My mechanic also calls them the "last of the old tanks." Subscribed.
Anything 55 is good with me, nothing quite sounds like those old blown V8s! And for the edits & b-roll it’s all @noplan ‘s work!

The stubby mirror is the standard (smaller) passenger side unit.

Damn.... remember reading about this shop from the SH article and it really resonated with me cause my late dad was a huge Mercedes and AMG fanatic. Suppose the fanaticism leaked to me as well because they are just beautiful. Great video man. Cheers from Indonesia🥂... btw, the wheels that were on the E 60 is a 3pc OZ Aero. We call them 3pc Aero in Indonesia and since the recent boom of pre-merger AMGs everywhere, they are really really super duper expensive in my country. But the odd thing is that there is no AMG emboss on the wheels and they usually have them...

This video just popped up on my feed and you lured me in with the W124 thumbnail. I love the colour coded AMG wheels on these cars, they work so well. I also really like how Japan has preserved its culture - Its such a fascinating place, and they are so respectful of cars. The quality of aftermarket parts is also second to none I think - incredible what they spend on their vehicles often to improve the quality of them only, or on very small details. Really is fantastic.
I am very interested in the ABC Kei cars, so anything on special shops for those would be very cool. Also Japan loves classic minis, so turlte trading and the other Mini workshops would be of interest. Thanks for the video.
Yeah the Japanese are crazy about every type of cars. Just in my general area there are 3 mini specialists! Will check some out for sure

I'd personally love it if you could also capture the human perspective since you probs know the language, maybe just a short comment on who frequents the shop, how's the business doing, how it's changed since the 90s, maybe they have some old pictures in the back of the shop or some story to tell about the current lineup, etc. Not always feasible and they're probably in working hours so maybe it's just polite not to interrupt them, but if it's possible it'd be a great addition to the already great videos.

Finally the video I have been looking for all about Japan & Mercedes-Benz
7:14 I'm very fortunate in that I don't have to imagine the sound. The stock exhaust is actually whisper quiet at low RPM or idle. It may be a muscle car, but it's a Mercedes first. However, put your foot down and it roars - and it's almost entirely induction noise, not exhaust. Some owners go with a custom exhaust, but most keep it stock, at most adding AMG tips. Enjoyed the video, always a treat to see what our Japanese friends are up to when it comes to old Mercs.

Sublime…I have a 1996 R129 SL500 imported from Osaka in 2021 with just 4,000 miles from new. The Japanese market really knows how to look after their MB’s.
Nothing like the benz vibe. Amazingly crafted vehicles and love my 3 different black series. True beast meets luxury cars.

Good luck finding one that doesn’t have a reverse gear problem. Those transmissions take dumps like a dog. 400, out of the question as well. But these? Well, these were built not only by Mercedes but also Porsche. I would sell everything I have for a E500 or 500E and possibly a limb for an E60 Wolf 🐺

Love the video and the cars. I am fortunate to have a couple of cars but as a daily I have a 2001 E55 wagon which I love. I got bored of all the new cars out there and went into the past a little bit to see if such a car could be used as my daily driver. Happy to report it very much can!

Great vid, love these cars, regarding the wing mirror, most come with a long mirror on the driver's side and a shorter more vertical mirror on the passenger side, it's not an either/or option as a pair

That E60!!! and gotta admit AMG Block wheels are some of the best looking wheels ever made but as you said they really suit the W124 chassis
