- In 2018 Alton Towers debuted its first ever wooden roller coaster, easily becoming one of the most themed rides ever built. The train threads through a massive Wicker Man statue 3 different times, which would be really exhilarating if the ride was going faster than 40 mph! This is one heck of a family coaster...

Probably already been mentioned, but the original Wicker Man is a British horror classic, unlike the crap American remake.

MoonWolf Productions the problem is. Is that Alton has a massive high restituon on the park so to get a none family wooden coster is hard for them but the ride is still amazing one of there best

Imagine if a Vekoma SLC could have been a contestant called “Kicker Man,” but wasn’t even in the tryouts because it was injuring too many people’s legs.

The wicker man was originally a 1973 film with Christopher Lee an absolute classic film.
The original wicker man movie from the 70s is actually pretty great
Its amazing when you realize how far in advance these parodies are planned
Airtime Thrills I was working on the script during some of the flights and drives of the Europe trip, so that I knew what I needed to film by the time we got to Alton Towers.
Alton Towers is my favourite park in the UK. I go there all the time! I can’t stop calling it ‘Whicker Man’!

I don't get the secret weapon aspect with this ride, if it was launched could've been Europes first launched woodie.
And the extra speed could have been an actual big deal in a park defined by its height limits, getting it to Steel Vengeance speed without the Steel Vengeance vertical footprint.

Wickerman was designed by the mind behind the flying, dive and vertical freafall coasters.
Not exactly.
He was invited quite late in the design process, and couldn't really change very much. The design was already almost finalized.
The idea of a Wicker Man is a well known concept in the UK due to the 1973 classic horror film, The Wicker Man.
The Nicholas Cage one isn’t the one we think about here…
