I’m excited to see how these filters turn out.
I agree with everything you said in this video. Dirted tanks definitely are not no maintenance. I cut down on water changes but definitely not plant pruning and filters are definitely beneficial. I may not use them but I have nothing against them and think they definitely are a safety net for hobbyists. Loved your take on those subjects and your templates as well😁 looking forward to part 2

Hahaha i never thought so much about filtration until just now. That is pretty cool how quickly you can get a good portion done. Can't wait for the next installment.

What kind of filtatrion would you suggest for a half gallon tank of brine shrimp (sea monkey) pets? Not to hatch and feed, but rather to hatch once and let them reproduce and continue as a colony forever.
My DIY tank is roughly 10" long, 4" wide, and 6" tall. It's 11 months old and I'm concerned about what kind of ongoing maintenance it may need to keep it going forever. As far as I can tell, there's just not information about keeping them long term like this: most people who keep them as pets probably don't last for more than a year, and the vast majority of people who hatch them at all only do so for feeding purposes.

The problem is filtering such a small space. Normally I would recommend a sponge filter, but in you case it would take up most of the tank. If you have another tank( a clean pail would also work) , I would suggest using that to condition your water and then do regular water changes into the shrimp tank. I hope that helps
