  • How should we think about innovation today? Dr. Ziad Mahayni shares his view on how we should think about innovation, how it developed over time and through which Paradigm Shift innovation is going right now. Ziad grew up in Germany and the middle east. He has studied at Harvard University, Université de Bordeaux and the Technical University of Darmstadt leading to a PhD in philosophy and a master’s degree in chemistry. He is a partner at the strategic management consultancy 3con, start-up coach and keynote speaker. As a management expert he is a driver of innovation and digitization. As a philosopher he analyses their implications on society and the human being. He has lectured at various universities among others at the master course FutureDesign at Coburg University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Yes, everything is technically possible today, and sometimes it scares me because not all innovations are as secure as they should be.

People have become sheep, they line up for iPhones like its the holy grail, they read 4 words and think they know it all, and they buy anything someone they think is famous so they can be just like them. So where does this shift start!

If you have good leadership skills, you'll never have to convince any one. Inclusive and diverse teams lead by open minded people is what leads to successful innovation. Quite frankly, if it wasn't for disruptions, the rich would keep getting richer and the rest of us would continue to flounder.

“we are running into a world that only a few years ago would have appeared as science fiction”. I think this so much. I remember only a few years ago it was the height of tec to have cables that connected your TV to your laptop so you could watch download movies on your big screen. Now if I had to do that it would be the most cumbersome thing to have to set up. Living a life of dreams here

This. All of this. As unimportant as it may seem, computer ethics _needs_ to be at the forefront of academic and public discourse. Urgently. This needs to happen so that consensus can be reached on some issues before they become reality.

Very interesting points. Open innovation becomes a more and more widespread model for the development of businesses, but partnering and international cooperation are still very complicated. There's a real lack of transparency on technologies and new use cases. Ironically, digitalization seems to have missed business-to-business partnering. (As a tech startup) we're working to fix this with, not a big surprise, digital network platforms. Hopefully making the partnering process for innovators much more easy.

What is reasonable - wouldn't it be fair to say that one person's view of reasonable might differ from another? Perspective is everything these days and it would seem that those that have the resources and power just want more and more, whether it's money, consumption or status.
