My dad used to have an old frosted beached glass wine bottle nestled in a piece of driftwood which had partially petrified to stone. Obviously the two objects were married together for years and the waves smoothed it over in the loveliest way, making them one permanent piece. You gave me an idea- perhaps there's a way to recreate that look by frosting a bottle, nesting it on a bed of wood maybe even driftwood and adding cement, even painting hues of coral, rust and tan like petrified wood unil it looks sculptural and organic. It sounds complex but you're talented, I know I can't utilize cement that well! By the way, the bottle in this video is beautiful!
I have decorated many wine bottles. Using many methods, I found this to work best. I let the bottle soak in hot soap & water for a few months minutes. I then start pulling as much as I can away from the bottle. But I don’t try very hard. Then I spray WD 40 & let it sit for awhile. That is the easiest way to remove a label. Once in awhile I have a bottle that the glue residue is so stubborn that I also use a little glue be gone. Works great!
If you ever do need to add hot water to normal glass, (not heat safe glass like oven proof or candle vessels) put a spoon in it first, the heat goes to the metal first. But to get labels off glass, I just score the paper outside with a fork, then soak the bottle or jar standing it in warm water
@@DeeDiamond2981 not boiling water straight into normal glass. Hand hot or very warm, yes, but boiling water breaks normal glass very often. Heat treated glass like what a candle comes in or especially for coffee etc, of course they’ve been treated. Wine bottles would most often crack right across the bottom when boiling water hits it when pouring in

The first one didn’t look high end, I think it should’ve been sanded a little better, the second one the copper looked better than added that other color, in that case you should added some black splashes or dabs to it blended it
If you have an UBER sticky residue type label, use a thin film of peanut butter spread over the residue and leave for 48 hours (you can put cling film over the PB so as to not have it touch anything as well as keep the PB oils and smells inside!) if it is an entire label that is one of THOSE labels, just score it a bunch without scratching the glass depending on craft, and put PB on a bit thicker and let sit with cling wrap for 3-4 days (Check it as much as you want to see if you can get some off a bit every day!) and then it should wash right off with hot water and a scrub with soap!!! Heck of a do NOTHING kind of way to clean off a label. Minimal elbow grease and the cost of a tblsp of PB!!!! WORTH IT!!!
@@auntissie the boiling water helps with the glue on the labels I just put mine in boiling water with soap and find it works better to release the glue
I’ve found the best way to take off stubborn labels is to just soak the bottle/jar in cold water for 24 hours or more. After that time, the labels peel off easily.😊
It would certainly do for a piece of home decor: or even in an art studio. Or a business where they didn't want to leave high-value art for people to pinch! 😏
I love the Copper and Turquoise vase. It looked like it came from an Art gallery. And I love the art on the wall where the vase was sitting. One more question, what is your accent. I love it. I made concrete items one summer and want to do it again but I’m waiting for a Craft shed to be build. I saw a little bit of concrete left in a bag on the patio. I may try the wine bottle vase also. It actually looks really run down and quite amateur - there are some stunning vases with all kinds of details out there , this vase doesn’t look that grand , she’s really in denial
This appears to be an excellent method for turning an ordinary wine bottle and some cement into an ordinary wine bottle with some unsightly cement stuck on top of it. The design does have one redeeming quality in that the resulting instability is likely to see it tumbling off the worktop counter at the first opportunity (possibly of it's own volition) thereby putting an end to it's existence. Maybe I'm just not very artistic, but I think I'll just empty the wine bottle and have Amazon deliver a vase.
I would just use the wine bottle without the cement for a vase.
Me too!!! There's so many other cute ideas you could do with the wine bottle, this seems way over complicated for a result that's not that great
I would just drink the wine.
High end? Are you kidding? It's a fussy process for an unattractive outcome.
Looks like a roll of toilet paper on top of a wine bottle.
I totally agree, I, personally don't like the cement it doesn't do anything for the bottle.

I LOVE THAT IDEA and can actually SEE that in my head!!! NICELY DONE!!!❤️
@@tovah2276 thank you! Imagination is the first step to creation!
Wouldn't it be more stable with concrete on the bottom?
It would probably look alot better also...
Yes, but the hole is at the top - also the tapered neck. I guess you could possibly drill and sand a wide hole in the base, and then invert it?
I don't think a high end piece would have the USPS label showing on the spackle of the finished piece.
I'm sure the USPS likes them using a free box for an unintended purpose. Petty theft? 😕

I'm surprised the boiling water did not break the glass bottle
THAT WAS THE MOST REDICILOUS IDEA FOR A VASE EVER, SOME THINGS U WATCH,WAITING FOR THE GOOD PART TO SUPRISE US, NOPE DOESN'T HAPPEN.

This is a total success. Really beautiful outcome with the cement and wine bottle.
First project is weird.
Retro and modern is an oxymoron. Never seen high end vase look that dreadful
Exactly
🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🤣🤣🤣🤗
Looks like the bottle is now top heavy and can easily fall
LOVE the last project best, but this is a pretty good episode. Thanks Homie’s. Lol
I like the 1st one but I’d just also do an inch or 2 on the bottom to balance it out more and not be so too heavy.
The bottle does not look like art, professional or something you would purchase outside of a children's art fundraiser
Is it top heavy?
With respect, the first project is not attractive at all!! Second project good idea, pretty colors but a little sloppy.
"Patina" is too heavy.
Add some fairy lights inside too..
The first one looked impractical and somewhat silly. The second one just looks sloppy. Seems this channel is going downhill fast.
I agree

Thanks so much 🥰
Love the cement one. Will try this
Acetone or fingernail polish remover works great on label adhesive.
not on really sticky residue tried it took forever to remove
Wow! Both are inspiring projects. Thank you
Rubbing olive oil on the label and letting it sit for 15-20 minutes, wipe it with a hot washcloth will also take the label off.
What if unopen bottle? How can I get the.label off?
Thanks for sharing 🙂
All this work on a $3 wine bottle is crazy....end result isn't very attractive.

I heard that someone stores his coffee grounds inside a wine bottle with vacuum seal to keep it fresh.
Not to sound negative but it seems like a big waste of time. Now all it's going to be is top heavy.
Wine bottles in the UK (Especially the clear ones) tend to have these horribly sticky plastic labels/printings on them. How do I get that off?

So how to make flowers vases out of something that basically is already a vase?
When exactly was the BOILING WATER poured??? Did I miss that??
I put my bottles to soak in a sink full of boiling soap water
Oops. Just re-watched. Why boiling water though... Hot soapy tap water works too.

Neither idea was interesting.
If you pour boiling water into glass without it being tempered it will explode or break on you! Not a good idea Is not a very responsible video!

The second vase would look better without the blue at the bottom and yes it needs to be sealed but with what ?
Eucalyptus oil gets of the sticky residue
The second one is nice
Both very nice
Ok... these are NOT impressive... just me?
Not just you.
Definitely not just you. I think the first one was… odd… to say the least. I wouldn’t do either one of them but that’s just my opinion .
Not just you. A lot of effort to make something that looks cheap.
Nothing high end looking about either of them. They look very amaturish.
I will not do either project. Just not my style.
Really cool
The second one was a way better outcome
easiest way I have found to remove any label..blow dryer
