  • Taste Lagavulin 16 Year Old with us. Described as a classic Islay dram, in all its peaty, maritime goodness it was originally intended to be a limited edition bottling. However, due to its popularity, Lagavulin 16 Year Old has become a permanent part of the Lagavulin range and we can see why!
    See what Avi & Kristy had to say..

    This is absolutely really good stuff. One of my most favorite Islay Scotches.
    Enjoying a dram right now while watching this video. Cheers!

    It has coloring added and is probably chill filtered which are both negatives. Its a classic tho but it could be even better without those 2 things I mentioned.

      Get a 12 year old cask strength then. Btw, chill filtration and color additives do not affect nose, taste, finish in anyway.

      @@CrustyBollox I unsubbed from Gwhisky for that reason. His judgement is heavily affected by low ABV, chill filtration and color additives even before he opens the bottle. I couldn't care less if any of my bottles had these "issues", which I never checked. OK, I check ABV after I taste it )) And sometimes my guess is totally wrong, so who cares. All I know is some bottles I'm gonna buy again, the rest - I tried, and away they go, not impressive. And Laga 16 is the one I'll always keep in my bar. So far Whiskey Tribe/Vault and Whiskey Dictionary are the best.

    No wee touch of water to release the complexity of flavours? Unusual.......

    Lagavulin uses E150 colouring for their entire line up so maybe ya'll should skip that 'colour indication'.. massive production forced Lagavulin to age their whiskey on the mainland at a massive warehouse as oppose to on the island by the sea. Not quite sure if this classic even worth it this days.

      " There are over 6,000 casks of Lagavulin aging on the property, 6,000 aging over at the old Port Ellen Distillery, and another 3,000 casks aging (ironically) at Caol Ila. There are more casks aging on the main island of Scotland, but a large portion is on Islay."

      Peated Islays are really an acquired taste; the more you drink, the more flavours you get other than smoke. It does take some effort though and I can completely understand why people wouldn't like them.

    • @smashexentertainment676
      @smashexentertainment676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lol. Try Octomore, it'd be like liquid burning tire. The peat taste is intentional for the fans. Btw, Laga 16 is the most mild peated whiskey I know, heavily smoothed with a sherry cask. That low score out of ignorance is totally uncalled for.
