Hayden Wiffen 2007 Kenworth T904

  • Hayden Wiffen, from Wiffen Cartage Services which began in 2000 with one truck, now runs about 26 trucks from the main base in Albury/Wodonga on the Victorian/New South Wales border. From there, they run gravel products out of quarries to clients around the Albury/Wodonga region, all around Victoria and New South Wales, and up over the Queensland border to the south-east Queensland regions and to the north side of Brisbane.
    When VTCM caught up with Hayden at the 2023 Klarendon Klassic show, he was showing his 2007 Kenworth T904 which is primarily a truck and dog PBS set-up. However, with a quick release it easily converts to a turntable, a semi tipper, or can tow a float.
    He has had the 2007 T904 for three and a half years, however, he has known the truck from brand new when Calvin Walsh and his boys first bought it. The Walshes eventually sold it to a fellow in Queensland, who moved the truck up there, but Hayden still used to run across it quite often when he was up there working with his agitators. The Queensland owner kept the truck for about three years, but sold it back to Sean Walsh, who then owned it for a further 12 months, before selling it to Hayden who has now owned and worked it for the last three and a half years. It had a C15 CAT engine in it when he bought it, but it dropped a liner at 930,000kms, which came with a fairly hefty repair bill, so Hayden decided to put an X15 Euro III-spec’ed Cummins engine in it and convert the truck over. After approximately four months working back on the road, the T904 has done about 50,000km, and is performing well with its 20 Series Eaton diffs, sitting on Meritor suspension in the rear. Hayden gets about a 36-ton payload on it as a truck and dog, so it’s a good all-rounder for him. It’s a nice-looking truck, and all the stainless, added by previous owners, cleaned up really well for its first time at a show.

    Why the hell would you get rid of the reliable C15 and replace it with one of these modern grenade motors. You'll be lucky to get 600k out of this X15 motor. Better off rebuilding a motor with out EGR . Crazy
