Bro why are you telling my story to everyone. :p same was happened with me. Everything was just like you. Started my preparation in 2018, Didn't solve tough questions from madeeasy in 2020, got demotivated before exam and then screwed gate 2020. This year also, got tensed in first hour because of lengthy EDC questions but then tried to give my 100% and finally scored AIR 399. You will surely excel in 2022. Now just focus on test series and make different notebooks for every subject and note tough and tricky questions which you couldn't solved during tests, this will help you in january. You can literally revise entire subject by these notebooks. Also don't watch any subject on youtube as your concepts are enough to get a good rank. Now a days they teach many irrelevant concepts. This was my mistake I used to watched many channels. Wish you great luck for 2022.
Hey, I'm also from Electronics and telecommunication branch And I also started GATE preparation in middle of 4th sem. GATE-2021 was my first attempt as my batch is 2021 so But now same question. why i failed in GATE 2021?? i did Internships after sem-4 due to which i missed my coaching class lectures. After that i revised all those topics which i completed before internship. then I was doing good in Gate but after sem-5 my focus shifted to IT industry. Then was doing both GATE and IT releated course like learning coding. Due to which i cannot gave time to GATE studies and coding. In sem-7 due to placements my GATE study completely stopped. I was trying to place in any company but as i started coding late so i failes to build logic. In sem-7 we have project too. At end of sem-7 I realized my mistake and i went into deperssion because i failed in my plan. After sem-7 Exam i had only 15 days left i just did some topics of GATE exam and i scored 10 in GATE 2021 and i haven't place in any company. So my suggestion is focus on one thing don't change your plans. Do not try GATE as well as IT releated course. Just do one thing with proper plan and guidance Thank you.
i am in a similar situation as you but this lockdown kinda proved to be a boon since i have been devoting my time both for gate and coding....even i am doing my internship currently on web dev from home, as well as doing online classes side by side

Bro no one will understand your feelings than me who has also failed in Gate2021 ECE .I didnt even qualify it . You should leave all wories and move ahead . If possible do convey me also what next to do .
I would like to add something: 1.Watch the conceptual subjects from NPTEL ,MIT OCW , Edx only.(Do not watch those from any "x" academy) 2. Do meditation everyday. 3. Try to give some mock test under pressure.(Time pressure(like solve mock in 2:30hrs instead of 3 hrs), Physical pressure(like solving mock test after doing a heavy workout or after getting tired) etc) 4. Practice problems in a specified time This year I gave gate and didn't perform as per my potential. I got 60-75 in nearly all mock test (Made easy, Gate Academy,ACE) and in some of the cases I ranked in top 10. But in Gate 2021 EC I got a rank of 518 , where as many people who scored below me in mock test got much better rank. I got panicked and also a post surgery pain didn't allow me to perform by my potential. I don't want anyone to repeat my mistake.
@Pavithra Mao For Mtech 2years you need to secure a rank below 1000 to get into top 7 IIT's. For Mtech 3 years program you need to secure a rank below 2500 to get into top 7 IIT's. But this year the game is different as 3rd year students have performed better than 4th year students in many colleges.

@@ThugsofTiktokshyamsaktawat My branch is EC. It doesn't matter how much time you spend. You should focus on the quality of concept and practice. I used to study for 7 to 8 hrs per day. 4hrs in the morning, 1 hr in the noon and 3 hrs in the evening. Rest of the time I spent playing games and building projects. Although I belong to a college where attendance was more important than knowledge, I managed to skip the classes . As a result I never felt tired or stressed. For people studying in lower tier college I would request you not to attend classes , instead you should spent time doing NPTEL and other MOOCs .
Seeing the types of questions asked in EC this year, I think NPTEL lectures are a must for getting fundamentals cleared thoroughly and understanding the usage of formulas also
its not always the successful people makes a difference brave of u that you shared your failure. next time you will be in top 500 . bcz this time you know your mistakes and would rectify as well

If you are from ECE then the subjects that you will be taught till the 6th sem will also be in GATE. So it will be better if you start preparing the rest of the subjects right now and by the end of the 6th sem start preparing for the left over subjects and give your 1st attempt in 3rd year. I missed my 1st attempt. Due to some reasons I couldn't sit after my 3rd year. So now I have to sit in 4th year.
Its absolutely no use if u follow nptel.i made that mistake.i prepared from nptel and i couldnt even solve previous years questions.those nptel course of videos and ebooks are conceptional and not meant for gate type of exams.please don't even try to go after nptel
