    I think the Noah's Ark analogy is more to the tune of "we wanted to set up proper double blind studies but there was a pandemic so we had to do something".

      The idea of randomised trials wasn't around then. Statistical analysis of medical data is around from the 1930s, and randomised clinical trials from the 1940s. What they were probably suggesting was that the trials should be replicated, which is what is still done today. At that time people would just give something to patients and decided whether it worked by how well their patients were compared to their expectations.

      @@rickponder110Well it's do something even though it may cause harm or do nothing which will definitely cause harm so... ethically speaking, the obligation there is to do something.

    Bacteria were known in 1918. But the flu is caused by a virus. When my mom got her medical degree in 1946, viruses were unknown. By the time she studied to get a medical license in the USA in 1965, viruses had been discovered and studied. It was an entirely new field she had to master before she could be licensed to practice in the USA.

    • @IwonaKlich
      @IwonaKlich ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Where you mom studied that medicine? In some nathuropaty university for not very bright people? Viruses been discovered in 1892... if she's don't hear about them until 1965... i hope she's not working with living and breathing people...

    • @Ken-er9cq
      @Ken-er9cq ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@IwonaKlich There was an assumption that there was something there of very small size that was infectious. What was unknown was the structure of whatever was there until the invention of the electron microscope in the nineteen thirties, which then had to be applied in medical research. Then they still didn't understand how viruses actually worked. You do sound very narcissistic.

      Not crazy when instead of giving people treatment to combat a chest infection and ultimately pneumonia.
      They were sent home and all of the medicines that could have helped were removed from public reach or demonised by the media.
      When those people got ill enough to be hospitalised they were treated with drugs that suppressed lung function and died.
      Nothing crazy about it.

    Definitely communication. Also officials not be big fat hypocrites and keeping their own business open, and throwing fancy smanchy parties inside with their rich friends while closing small businesses down and arresting people going to a deserted beach. Lost all respect for a lot of the officials in my state because of stuff like this. Their quarantines and safety restrictions made sense, but they didn’t even have enough respect for the people to follow it themselves.

    My father fell very sick during the COVID 2nd wave (may 2021).
    All of the symptoms are of COVID, but the test result always came negative.
    And after few days he died of severe pneumonia.
    This is not just the case of my father, it happen to many of the people during the time.
    After watching this video I guess there could have been better treatment or prevention of COVID. (Given that we already witnessed similar pandemic earlier 😞)

    In order to have a disease you have to have a pathogen and a weakend host. There was a great deal of malnutrition after World War 1. We also begin the beginning of chlorination of water- coronation water was a big deal. Just because you have a viral infection doesn't mean you can't have a bacterial infection at the same time.

    • @jamieb-mo3dl
      @jamieb-mo3dl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the host does not HAVE to be weak, though it helps the virus. The pathogen i.e., virus or bacteria, needs to reach a pathogenic level, this applies more to bacteria, but viruses have to have the host, then they can multiply and overcome the body's defenses

    Please do a video about the pros and cons of eating products like 'Activia' (advertised for gut health and improving weight loss, which millions are likely to buy!). I won't buy it again because the paper cover is really flimsy and does not stay on. It tasted too bitter compared to my favorite yogurt, Silk and Blue Diamond (made out of almonds). The date is way too small, you have to have glasses on to read the due date. What happens to people who eat it past due and are already at risk because the paper cover is so flimsy? More important: I ate Activia while on antibiotics recovering from toenail surgery (ingrown, impossible to trim). I am very glad I got that surgery, my feet feel much better!!! But I got a rash from where my dog leash presses the skin. My dog runs off on his leash and through the street trash (tiny glass). I have heard of a school yard cleaning tool called a 'Mule.' This can vacuum up glass trash. Ideally, 8 billion people should own a 'Mule' in order to help prevent infections caused by glass trash EVERYWHERE. I think people should avoid buying Activia, at least until they improve the cover to keep it fresh. It probably looks the same after ten years, just like 'Jack In the Box.' Good Day
