I hope one day I can get there! Yesterday I showed my mother in law some of your videos and she was transfixed. It brought back childhood memories long forgotten. She walked to Hong Kong just before WW2 - a three day walk - when she was six and she has never been back.

I think there have been many mini "long marches" undertaken in recent Chinese history. I hope to get back to Sandaoling at least once more before the steam goes. Maybe we can be your guides.
Andy Dandan Fisher News from Xibolizhan is that they are going to rip up 8 sets of track through there to make way for a road for trucks. This will all be happening within 6-8 months.

This location is now absolutely unique in the world ... 9 2-8-2s in steam together. And fingers crossed, it should last another couple of years here.

To be honest, I can't remember what the vantage point was ... a building of some kind on the platform.

Oh dear. That's very bad news. I had hoped to get back there once more before the steam finished.
Sadly they'll be melted down and will end up as cars !
They should just put them working elsewhere when they remove them from here.
