BTS often sound better live than studio
Hardly anyone reacts the their historical SNL live performance of this song, it's so much better, the camera angles, the sound, and there's a dance break at the end that I love. Their live performance of boy with luv on that episode is great to watch too, love their dancing in it

All the awards shows are insane! So MMAS and MAMAS all are simply amazing but I think universally the 2019 MMA is considered the best live award show. It’s 30-40 minutes long, this is not a problem Army will watch it even if it’s long. I am going to suggest watching an into video first so you will be more confident in who is who. Great job! 💜

Generally yes the rappers have mics and the vocalists have headsets. But I think it's whatever they are feeling cause sometimes the vocalists have mics too! Other times the choreo really requires everyone have headsets.
An ARMY poll had the Dionysus performance at MMA 2019 as their best live performance (I also voted for that). Incredible doesn't even begin to describe it...no hyperbole.

Their live performances never fail... this one was an earlier US appearance just as their Western fanbase was surging... the set was simple, without all the bells and whistles.. and the venue was smaller... BUT, contrary to what their haters say, they prove the DO perform LIVE... how they can sing and dance all at the same time is a testament to how dedicated they are to giving ARMY near perfect performances everytime even in those long live concerts...
I liked the simplicity of this one because you clearly heard their individual voices without lots of other noise... the background track was much lower... and as he often does, Suga dropped a few phrase words in his solo as a way of telling his haters "yes, we can sing and dance live, no lip syncing here".... lol
As their careers grew, their sets have become more elaborate even on a smaller stage... For example, their 1st Live performance of "Black Swan" was on James Corden show and the small stage was amazingly decorated.. a must see. They was wonderful on it (except for V kicking J-hope in the head, but we didnt notice it; as they just kept dancing and singing).
I also liked when they appeared on the Stephen Colbert show for the 1st time at his stage in the Ed Sullivan Theater on the very stage that The Beatles appeared on when they 1st came to America to perform. BTS even wore "Beatles type suits" when they performed: black suit, white shirt and skinny black ties!

I love their live performances and they often sounds better than their studio. The live performances that i like are: Go Go, baepsae, airplane part 2. On, blacksvan, Magic shop, so what, DNA, IDol, home, Jump, Run all of them ig.

BTS will perform live at this weekends AMA rewards doing their "BUTTER" remix with Megan Thee Stallion; and the hit "MY UNIVERSE" they just released a few weeks ago with Coldplay.
Then next week they will be live on James Corden show. They are close friends and have been on his show numerous times. One of the funniest skits they did on his show was "FLINCH" so be sure to watch it if you need a really good laugh...

The things the fans are holding are "light sticks" :> It's a thing that K-pop groups usually have designated light sticks that their fans light up in their concerts/performances. So for BTS, they have the "Army Bomb" :D
Also, for most songs, they usually have fanchants. They can be explicitly stated from the release of their songs or they're fanmade :D But the "staple" fanchant would be reciting all the members' names by order of age (oldest to youngest) but for BTS, it starts with the leader (RM) then proceeds by age.

They are just THAT good and this by no means implies that there studio versions aren't already top-tier, phenomenal form of music that should be appreciated as much as possible

I absolutely love Suga, he is one of my bias wreckers, along with RM. Heck, I guess you could say they are all my bias wreckers lol. Once you get to know all of their individual personalities.. it starts getting hard.. they are all great people. And I literally can relate to all 7 of these guys when it comes to personalities, hardships, and music. Anyway, loving your journey so far. And yes with you being introduced to Suga first, it's only natural to be close to him first. Just wait till you get to know him more.. he is truly such an awesome guy, and I honestly I share most of my personal mental issues with him. If your more curious about this, check out his solo songs "Never mind", "First Love", and my personal favorite and a lot of others favorite "The Last". I believe all of them are listed under his solo name Agust D. But he talks about his own personal struggles and mental issues. And this is why I admire this man so much. After you have seen these songs (some you will have to watch lyric videos or live versions, no mv's on 2 of them) I'll elaborate more as to why I have so much admiration for him as well as the others, but that will come later. You see the light sticks? they're called at Army bombs (it's bought by Army )and they have Bluetooth . On their concerts (not performances like this) it's possible to sinq the bombs and they become part of the performances as the concert can control the lights color and on/off.

Live...2018 and 2019 Melon Music Awards (MMA). 2020 MMA also good, but no live audience due to pandemic and Suga was out recovering from shoulder surgery. Still worth watching. 2019 though blew my mind!

I guarantee this is a BTS crowd because of the ARMY Bombs, which are the Official BTS Light Sticks. When BTS are going to perform, ARMY's show up. They probably bought out the tickets to the show and camped out waiting in line. I respect all of them for that, because it helped BTS to feel at home in America when they were starting to perform and interview, and accept awards here in America. If I had been a fan then, I would have tried to show up and support them as well.

If you want live performances watch the MMA's 2018 & 2019. 4th Muster Come back home, No More Dream & Mic Drop. Plus the rap line Memories Cypher Medley live 2017. You may only find this on another reactors feed, try Mr. Sammy cam . And the vocal line watch House of Cards live.

@@rob21jj - yeah they're always busy -- in Sept they were appointed as Special Presidential Envoy by their president so they accompanied their president at UN last September (they carry diplomat passports) -- BTS spoke at the UN (3rd time for them) - not sure if were familiar the collab song of BTS with Coldplay, its pretty good (was no. 1 on billboard 100) there's the mv and the documentary on recording the song with Coldplay and there's a special butter dance practise with the Megan Stallion remix by the 3J (BTS dance unit- Jhope, Jimin and JK)

So about mic thing you asked, I don't know if somebody told you. It depends on songs...
Usually when they don't have choreo or performance is more relaxed or song is ballad and they stand or sit they all use mic in hand.
Then there are songs that rappers have mic in hand and vocalist have on head mic. And there are like different reasons for that bc usually rappers feel better with mic in hand and we also hear them better, but also it looks better. But all changes with songs. You will see with more lives...
And there are songs with really fast choreo or more complicated moves, usually they all have headsets. But there are situations that they have mics in hand even with that kind of songs.
When they started they were learning dancing with the assumption that they had to hold microphones. So they are very used to it and have a good hold.
In concerts most time they have mics in hands.
They also put head mic when the choreo have a lot of hand moves, big and hard, etc.

Haven't checked to see if this is already on the list but I think one of their best performances is their NPR Tiny Desk Home Concert.
Try checking out the live performance in MAMA 2017.. they did an extended triple dance break of Mic Drop, it was epic and they were in suits!
The SNL performance was also soo good 👌.

i like their MVS but i love their live performances because you see how much energy they have and the sound is alot better LIVE and you can hear ARMY singing it with them which is amazing as well.

Possible explanation for why RM sounds so good:
One thing that BTS, and I think other Kpop artists, do is have the voices in the backing track and then also sing on top of it. For some reason "serious critics" say this is a no-no and classify it like lip-syncing. But it definitely is not! First of all, it is Their voice in the backing track. And when they sing over it, it gives a richer sounds live which I think is genius. I'm sure someone came up with this decades ago but I think it is a good idea. Yes, lip syncing is gross (when you mouth the words that someone else is singing) but if it is Your Own Song with Your Own Voice, you can do whatever you want that makes it sound good. Nuff said.

You should watch the concert version of this song.i highly recommend you watch mic drop live at Seoul concert . I think all performance at American is not as good as Korean cause they all have bad sound quality. Their concert is the best.

Camera production in our western world is clueless. They literally have no clue what to do they have spoiled so many of their performances with their ancient practices lol now in S.Korea or with their own ptoduction company its a whole other story the diffetence is night and day 💜

A lot of BTS songs I ended up liking just because of the live performances. They're amazing performers and they put in the work. This is what made me a fan.
Its a problem that a lot of artists, very popular ones tbh, make incredible music but ruin it for me when I hear them live.
They're gonna perform at the AMAs on 21st though.
I hope they GO ALL OUT! eg, the Coldplay Collab video is like a mini movie and they can totally go somewhere with that! This was 9n Jimmy Kimmel so there arent as many bells and whistles as with a concert.
If you listen to Black Swan they refer to their lives as a “beautiful prison” because they’re fame comes at the price of not being able to enjoy the everyday freedoms you and I take for granted. Beyond their content BTSARMY loves each individual member for their perfectly imperfect qualities as human beings - they really are unique and precious 💜
