Alexi Navalny represented hope and freedom. There are few legitimate heroes in the world, but Navalny was one and forever will be. The Americans who are propping up Putin, a tyrant who murdered Navalny and is waging a savage war against the people of Ukraine, are betraying more than American values, but freedom itself. My best Yulia. We should all be so strong and so brave.

Sorry, but Navalny was a Russian imperialist who also believed in a "Greater Russia", and had no issues with the genocidal violence against Ukraine. If you want an actually bold Russian voice, listen to Garry Kasparov.

@@NathanGWoodNevalny wasn’t perfect, nobody is but he took one fight at a time. You can’t fight everybody’s battle. Yes he might have been all you say but in the end he was Russian. He’s still a hero in my eyes because he was unafraid, he knew leaving the safe west and going home would probably lead to his death. Yet he went back to Russia to defy Putin. To stand by his people. Hè believed being inside Russia hè could accomplish more. Maybe he was naive but his movement is still alive and I too believe Putin will fall. Only then can they move on.

@@NathanGWoodactually, his attitude towards Ukraine changed. Intelligent people are capable of changing their opinions when confronted with evidence. Nobody can be right 100% of the time, it is the capacity to evolve which is important.

Navalny was once known to speak of the people of Ukraine and Georgia in derogatory terms, something he eventually apologized for but not in a way that satisfied Ukrainians as he still supported the annexation of Crimea as do most Russian democrats. While it’s true he was opposed to the war in Ukraine it was mostly for economic reasons rather than for moral ones. His team did propose a 15-point manifesto in 2023 that would honor Ukrainian sovereignty but this was done more to appease Western leaders who support a free and democratic Ukraine.

I'm Russian and an ex-supporter of Navalny. Alexei was a far right russian nationalist and his influence over me ended when he supported the annexation of Crimea. I was disillusioned and never looked back. Yulia has imperialist, colonial mindset, hence her recent criticism of the colonies of Russian Federation call for freedom. Dear Westerners, please stop being so naive dealing with us Russians! Please wake up!

Even after he got involved with Russia's enemies? Meetings with handlers, representatives of the CIA, MI6, while he was being treated in Germany, for example, which the FSB could easily prove, did not disappoint you? My wife was sticking stickers with Navalny a while ago, not that I'm a hardcore Putinist, but why do we need another open puppet of the State Department in Russia, of which they have a dozen in every country? I liked Navalny in the early days, right-wing, when he spoke out against migrants, under Obama, he was closer to Trump (I wish Rachel had said that, but it's against the narrative), as he himself admitted, in terms of rhetoric, but then they wouldn't let him on Radio Liberty either, saying he was a nationalist. And then look how he and the State Department completely changed their agitation, they started to come from the leftist agenda, anti-corruption, social inequality, like all the operations of the State Department and the NED in South America and the former CIS countries.

Rachel was so respectful and appreciative of Alexie Navalny and his incredible legacy, while also asking thoughtful, insightful questions of Yulia. Just like her husband, Yulia Valanaya, is a remarkably brave, intelligent, kind person but her heartbreak is palpable. I will never get over the fact that the entire world watched as Alexie was blatantly harassed, bullied, abused, poisoned and ultimately murdered simply for advocating for truth, while the world did nothing. Alexie was a remarkable man who paid the ultimate price for his passionate quest for truth, justice, honesty and democracy and he will always be a legendary inspiration. Felt so much anguish watching this brave woman and hearing her & her husband's story. So much admiration for her and further disbelief for what we are currently facing here and that our election is so dangerously close and there are those who would even consider thrusting us into an authoritarian-like country which would be our ultimate demise. We must NOT give up. 💙✊️💙

Thank you, Rachel, for bringing attention to this important book and honoring the voice of an incredibly influential man on the world stage regarding being a fighter for basic freedoms, without fear. I found it very meaningful to know how important his wife's support was to his work, and to see her commitment to continuing it, despite the dangers. I wish her safety and security, and I want her to know of the lifting of us all that occurs because of the example she and her husband have provided to the world. May the light she brings on behalf of all free people, protect her through challenges she is likely to face as she continues with such important work.
