    First one here. I love how you used the blow dryer to get a perfect form. I think the coffee bar being white will really stand out. The floor I'm not sure yet. The cabinets turned out beautiful

      Thank you Marilyn. Yes, I agree on the coffee bar being totally white will stand out too....but another video is set to upload in two weeks that has kinda changed my mind, but I'm still undecided....so we'll see. Thanks so much my friend for your comment. Blessings to you.

      @@phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi you're welcome. White at top and black at the bottom will just keep it evened out with the rest of the kitchen. Having white at the top will still keep the kitchen bright. I love watching your DIYs, helps me come up with good ideas for my own home.

      Thank you. I spray painted the doors and drawers fronts with flat black spray paint by Rustoleum. Thank you for your suggestion. It's been 2 years since uploading this video and I still haven't done the coffee area and upper cabinets...unexpected LIFE happens but I still plan to complete the entire kitchen. Blessings to you.

    Did you paint the cabinet and drawer fronts or use the peel and contact paper? Do you have an instructional video for how to do the contact paper on the cabinet fronts? Most only show it with flat cabinets. Ours have curves like yours.

    I LOVE your videos regarding peel and stick options! Thank you - I think you should do all the cabinets black. However, if you do the coffee bar white, you may find that brightens your kitchen. Please film another follow up video and let us know. Also, you mentioned that you are switching out the backsplash. What will you replace it with? Last question - have you found any peel and stick contact paper or wallpaper that is inexpensive to cover very large areas/rooms/walls?

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just Us....thank you so much. I love the diversity of using peel and stick contact paper. I think I will go with doing all of the cabinets BLACK, ACCEPT the coffee Area. I like your suggestion of it keeping the area white....AND the black upper cabinets above the microwave and oven would be better BLACK because of the exposure to heat and grease over spray. It's more manageable. I will do a follow up when it's completed. As far as the backsplash I'm using a combination of Peel and Stick SOLID white contact paper and 3x6 beveled edge mirrors in place of the Walmart Brand Marble peel and stick contact paper. For covering larger areas that's inexpensive, I haven't used anything other than the Duck Brand sold at Walmart. I have covered my sister's shower and sealed it with Polyurethane. Here's a video of a shower I covered in 2020 th-cam.com/video/jvCs5GuAfNk/w-d-xo.html, and here is a video of my sister's shower covered and sealed with Polyurethane th-cam.com/video/D-QICB4MVDQ/w-d-xo.html. Here's an 8 month Review that I did on the first shower and it's still holding up today. th-cam.com/video/9eOjMc5lSWU/w-d-xo.html. I really appreciate you watching. Blessings

    Hi Phyllis
    I’m seriously thinking of painting my kitchen cabinets black. Question- How is it holding up? Any issues when clearing? ~Elle

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Elle. I have no issues at all..and because I purchase the kind that is water proof the wipe down is a breeze. I plan to finish covering the top cabinets this year. Thanks for your viewing support my friend. Blessings

    How are the cabinets holding up now that its almost been a year? Im looking to do mine with contact paper but nervous of scratches!

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are still holding up VERY Well. I'm able to wipe off spills resulting from liquid that it comes in contact with. I live alone, so I don't have issues with scratches or tears of any kind. Just an FYI: I spray painted the cabinet doors and drawers with flat black paint...the contact paper is only applied to the cabinet "boxes and trim".

    Does removing true contact paper damage the kitchen cabinets?? I’m thinking of putting these on rental property

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello, it can damage depending on the type contact paper. My cabinets have stain, so when I attempted to remove it from my Island, it began pulling the varnish off. If you purchase peel and stick contact paper, make sure it's REMOVABLE and REPOSITIONAL (meaning it can be pulled up without destroying the paint). I hope this helped. I appreciate you watching. Blessings

    How did you do the paneled cabinets and do they give you a problem after time?... edit i think i found my answer on your panelled matte black door. Would you still say the best option is to cut piece by piece instead of the one piece and try to blow-dry it to place.

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually spray painted the drawers and doors with a flat matte black paint and used the peel and stick contact paper on the boxes. Now what you're referring to about cutting each piece for the panels I did to my front door, using the same Peel and Stick contact paper. Here's the video link: I appreciate you watching. Omg! What a cool idea! Didn’t even think about doing this to my cabinets! How’s it holding up? Does it get damaged by any heat from cooking or anything? Also what state do you live in, or at least is it a tropical place? Like I live in Florida and I’m worried that the humidity might damage it. Just curious if you have any recommendations ;) Brilliant idea btw! Looks beautiful 🤩

      Hello DeeDee, thank you. It's holding up very well. I did this for my daughter who lives in Florida behind her stove and my other daughter's bathroom, here's the link to the video for the bathroom shower,, th-cam.com/video/jvCs5GuAfNk/w-d-xo.html. I also did a review and here's that link, th-cam.com/video/9eOjMc5lSWU/w-d-xo.html. Both are still holding up very well. I use the Walmart Duck Brand Marble Peel and Stick contact paper. Thanks again and I appreciate you watching.

      I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the video but how would I figure out the size of rolls needed

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not mentioned. I never measure, I just guess. However; the product gives the amount on each roll....and my understanding to order what you need, is to measure the Length x Width of your door, window, floor (whatever you're covering) and that will = the Total amount you need to order. I hope giving this information will help.

      Just saw your response to another person, my bad. Would you recommend spray painting as opposed to applying the contact paper if you have indentions on the cabinet doors.

    • @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi
      @phyllisjrcrestorationdecordesi  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would recommend spray painting. Just keep in mind, there's more prepping that will need to be done. If it's YOUR home then do what works for you. If you're renting, peel and stick is better ONLY if the paper is REMOVABLE AND REPOSITIONAL..NOT just REMOVABLE. REMOVABLE only.....MAY pull the varnish off of the cabinets. I shared that in my Island makeover video. I hope this answered your question.
