- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Southampton Central located on the South Western Main Line and start of both the Wessex Main Line and West Coastway Line where services are seen by South Western Railway, CrossCountry, Southern (brand of Govia Thameslink Railway) and Great Western Railway.
Southampton Central is always a busy, bustling station to visit. The station has a large amount of variety going through it so you are never really bored here easily, no long gaps, good views coming in and out of the tunnels on the approach from St Denys and large amounts of frequency with services. The station has pretty much remained the same ever since I've been here, this is my 5th film here from this station and nothing really has changed except for a couple of TOC names. This was also by far my most successful film here, with no staff issues, everything running as it should and no disruption so for once, a perfect film here! A highly recommended station from me for sure, I really like it here.

Great video mate. I enjoy it a lot. Great catch of 158 888.
When trains are guaranteed connections long waits are inevitable in some places. Logistics and all that. Way back in time I was on a train from Exeter to Basingstoke which waited at Yeovil junction for about 20 minutes for no apparent reason. I had time to get off and try to find a bus or taxi to Pen Mill but there weren't any so I had to get back on it. I was trying to get to Bournemouth.
Last time I was at Southamton I was there for half an hour and seven freight trains went through.
So for the question of the day, one is Stafford for a starts I believe with LNWR then you have Edinburgh fir the Chieftain runs and that's all I know I believe and RIP EMT with 11 years of a great TOC and overall great video
Great video! Although is it a big trip if GWR is in it LOL
Your showing great content my friend
At brockenhurst, the slow trains from london to poole ( maybe the other way round) stay there for about 15 to 20 minuites while they let the fast XC and Weymouth trains go past and they also might wait there as well whilst the lymington train comes in and out
Correct indeed.
A station to film at: Egham
Waterloo to Reading Line
Weybridge via Hounslow line
Between staines and virginia water. A nice range of trains on the SWR network including 450s, 458s, 707s, and the odd 455 with every so often a fast 444 on the Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo via Staines services and also a few bits of freight every now and again. Would definately like to see a video from Egham
Wolverhampton. The Scotland/Preston - Euston services sit for about 15 mins
Haslemere, the Southsea stopper waits for a Fast Portsmouth Harbour train, and Witham in the evening Peak a Colchester town waits for one of the 90 minute Norwich trains.
South Western Railway to Poole waits in Brockenhurst for about 20 minutes before continuing to Poole
A service that waits a long time is the Littlehampton to London which sits at Hove for 10 mins
Oh! My God!! 150249 The Rear Of It! I Did Not See That Coming!! That Was Funny
Haha yes
@@KTVTransport Why Did You Get Suprised Of That?
Not surprised? I just agreed with you lol.
@@KTVTransport Ok
Great video Kieran! I love this station because of the variety of trains considering how small the station is. My answer to question of the video is that there is a service at Banbury which stays at the station for about 15 minutes then advances to its journey. It’s the 18:02 to Birmingham Snow Hill.
Is Nottingham one of the station's the 158s to Liverpool from Norwich waits for about 10-15 minutes
Finsbury Park because I remember getting a Thameslink service from Kings Cross and it seems all of them do it, it arrives into Finsbury Park at say 18:54 it then leaves at 19:02. Don’t know if it’s still the same
well done you KTV Videos
either the 18:02 to birmingham snow hill or thameslink sevices to bedford waiting 5 minutes at luton
Awesome Video Bud :)
150249 The Rear Of The GWR Service?
The first 165 set sounded like a cross between a 43 and a 159
Also Southampton Central crosscountry only going up waits and London to Poole only going down waits in platform 1
Please do Bromley South or Shortlands.
I'll have a look into it.
@@KTVTransport Ideally Shortlands 'cause they have speeding and stopping services.
An answer to the question, I think a pendolino service from Glasgow to London waits at New street for a while not 100% sure
They do, that's right
Crewe Euston via Trent valley always hang at Stafford for a while as do Lime Street Euston services at Birmingham New Street
I think the Poole service stays at Basingstoke for a while. And may I ask what you film with, because I used my phone for trainspotting but it is quickly running out of storage...
Hull Trains Kings Cross to Beverly waits in Hull Paragon for almost 20 mins before continuing to Beverly
Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth and Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly services sit in Reading for 10-15 mins
Nice video
Thanks!
Why is there loads of freight trains, btw nice video 😎
Nintendo Fanboy plays roblox and more because if Southampton docks :). If you go to Eastleigh there’s loads more
@@trainspottersouth Thanks for telling me
Isn't Exeter St David's one as doesn't the sleeper stop there for 2 or so hours?
Yes the Night riviera sleeper train sits at Exeter St Davids (Paddington to Penzance) or Bristol Temple Meads (Penzance to Paddington) for about 2 and a half hours
They put 150s on the rear all the time because the line is getting a capacity boost
Yes but 150s aren't part of that, the capacity boost will be the Turbos once they fully take over.
One more thing before I leave, RIP East Midlands Trains
Indeed, 11 years of brilliance.
F
Whats going on with East Midlands Trains. Are they being transfered to a diffrent company
The Inverness to London Kings Cross Highland Chieftain train sits in Edinburgh for 15 minutes
Indeed it does!
Question of the vid
Tfw service from holyhead comes in at 16 past then leaves at 36 past to Birmingham international via shtewsbury
Correct but where is this? Holyhead has no through services.
@@KTVTransport oh Chester
Dont you mean Shrewsbury
@@EthanAfro707 no Chester comes it comes in then reverses
@@jacksonhughes6409 Ok. Thanks. Never sure about things that way because i live near london so dont know about wales. The only things i know are when All the Station went to wales
