@@dildonius Bret was a worker bro. When you're a worker it doesn't matter if you're the Undertaker. If the boss says drop the belt, you drop the belt. Bret wanted to be the boss when he had no grounds for being the boss. It's not really the "screwjob". It's Vince making an example out of Bret for insubordination. The good thing about wrestling is that personal problems generate revenue. This was a double edged sword for the WWE.
@@BigEvan96 Yeah because Shawn was the model employee. How many times has Vince told Shawn to lose to Bret and he refused, "insubordination" and "wanted to be the boss"? Bruce Pritchard is that you?
WCW Nitro was a rated R / MA show for adults compared to WWE Raw right now... My parents used to think WCW was too violent. And the drama during the shows felt very real, unlike today. It didn't seem like they were trying to be kid friendly. Only thing that was missing was the puppies and blood (which came later in 99) Other than that the drama and wrestling looked real. WCW never would say it was entertainment. This was also before everyone had internet so most kids believed it was all real that it wasn't just a show
@Bold One Shawn and the whole dx thing was Vince trying to create his own stable on par with the nWo and if you notice in 97, wrestling was stable crazy. Nod, Hart foundation, Los boricuas, DOA, DX. That was Vince trying to find something to stick and catch fire like nWo.
Shawn would have backed out of a lawsuit against WWF. It's one thing for the company to know he was a pill-head, but quite another for it to come out in a public forum. WWF would have creamed him on his lifestyle choices contributing to an unsafe work environment.
90s HBK in WCW would have been insane, he'd have probably died but as long as he wasn't treated like Bret Hart in WCW and was given a Hall and Nash position and personally Id take him and give him Hogans spot, but it would have been crazy
It’s a what if situation… What if Vince had fired Shawn again (after the first time with Jannetty)? What would’ve become of The HeartBreak Kid? Would there have been the show stopper, the icon, the main event? Most likely not… WCW did not know how to run a wrestling program, and as others have said he would’ve ended up in the cruiserweight division and never been on top again. What if Vince had fired Shawn? I would go on a limb and say his Wikipedia wouldn’t say IS it would say WAS
Hogan would put him in his place just like he did at SummerSlam. People like to hype up HBK but he really was a small fry not on the levels of a Hogan, Austin, Rock, Bret, Cena
Glad he didn't make the switch at that time. WWF needed all the help they could get back then. Switching companies doesnt always work, Bret Hart for example.

With all of these "Doesn't work for me Brother" comments about Hogan i really wish Hogan would come back and someone would weave this into an actual storyline where some heel faction decides to just piss off the fans by putting the belt on Hogan AGAIN and then going out of their way to defend him and prevent anyone from taking it lol Each week they'd taunt the fans about how no one is getting the belt off of Hogan anytime soon and Hogan could go full heel and embrace the whole "Doesn't work for me Brother" and make it into a shirt or something lol Idea is that Hogan isn't actually wrestling (because he's too old and it would be silly) he's just showing up and the other guys are doing the work for him and getting a kick out of just angering the smart marks lol
A lot of these wrestlers need to be reminded exactly how it was when there were the territories. Maybe that needs to come back so they can start that way. Bret wanted to be the boss. Bret should have beem fired for insubordination before the screwjob.
@@BigEvan96 Insubordination regarding what?
@southerncajuncharm Well he's not. He practically perfect.
1997 was Steve Austin's year and it was clear that he was the heir apparent to the throne. The time for Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels had passed.
And that's the bottom line.....
WCW Nitro was a rated R / MA show for adults compared to WWE Raw right now... My parents used to think WCW was too violent. And the drama during the shows felt very real, unlike today. It didn't seem like they were trying to be kid friendly. Only thing that was missing was the puppies and blood (which came later in 99)
Other than that the drama and wrestling looked real. WCW never would say it was entertainment. This was also before everyone had internet so most kids believed it was all real that it wasn't just a show
Bold One hb gay would of been a job guy in wcw. Little guys didn’t cut it in wcw brotherrrrrrr
Bret helped make Austin a star Steve says it himself that was his greatest match
I wonder if I called Titan and did the Corny impression if they would think it's Bruce fucking around 🤔
Shawn would have backed out of a lawsuit against WWF. It's one thing for the company to know he was a pill-head, but quite another for it to come out in a public forum. WWF would have creamed him on his lifestyle choices contributing to an unsafe work environment.
no they wouldnt use that because that would show that wwe knew and let him do pills
90s HBK in WCW would have been insane, he'd have probably died but as long as he wasn't treated like Bret Hart in WCW and was given a Hall and Nash position and personally Id take him and give him Hogans spot, but it would have been crazy
It’s a what if situation…
What if Vince had fired Shawn again (after the first time with Jannetty)? What would’ve become of The HeartBreak Kid? Would there have been the show stopper, the icon, the main event? Most likely not… WCW did not know how to run a wrestling program, and as others have said he would’ve ended up in the cruiserweight division and never been on top again.
What if Vince had fired Shawn? I would go on a limb and say his Wikipedia wouldn’t say IS it would say WAS
It’s funny that Conrad pointed out the sniff Bruce did cause coke was the first thing that went through my head 😂
I was a wcw guy. I would have loved hbk on turner tv
Why couldn’t they reschedule that. Match. Pullman vs Michaels
What podcast episode is this clip from?
No idea what they would of Done with HBK on wcw put him in the nwo obviously but his ego at the time wouldn't let him be a number 2 to Hogan
Hogan would put him in his place just like he did at SummerSlam.
People like to hype up HBK but he really was a small fry not on the levels of a Hogan, Austin, Rock, Bret, Cena
Shawn vs Bret: best work ever
Glad he didn't make the switch at that time. WWF needed all the help they could get back then. Switching companies doesnt always work, Bret Hart for example.
So much drama in the 90s lol
"He had a contract in his clause" lol
Was Shawn a draw? His best friends left the company when they knew Shawn was going to be “the guy”
Look at Shawn up there. How was any straight guy supposed to get behind him?
Jesus fuck, imagine the power struggle between the Kliq and Hogan backstage?
Staying with the wwe was the best decision shawn did. With the politics there and guys like hogan/flair running wcw shawn's career would die there in a few months.
I think I'd actually pay to see a shoot fight between Bret and Shawn in 1996.
“Not that I know of”...”Absolutely not”. Can’t be both. Perfect example of a “Prichard-ism.”
The Artful Dodger
The dude is a company man through and through. One of Vince's most loyal and obedient Yes-Men.
They should caught it on tape
Shawn Michaels probably wanted to move to Atlanta to be with all his homeboys.
Clifton Smith that is exactly the reason for it. It was said at the beginning of this video and Shawn has said it a million times
Clearly
I didn't realize Shawn Michaels was a fake name
Bruce saying Shawn wasn't screwed up because he himself was screwed up and was like I was more screwed then him so no he was fine.
man I wished that fight didn't happen knowing now he was supposed to fight pillman 1 of the greats n I guarantee that match would of been a dq with pillman status trying to get a push vs stone cold ,but pillman was more hooked on pills then anybody
Pat Patterson should have put a pair of his crappy underware over HBK's head. It would look cute.
10:56 LoL ahahahaha
Going to WCW would have been a real mistake, they would not have handled and crafted his legacy like the WWF/WWE have done.
It would've been really hard not to laugh at Sean Michaels, slamming his clump of hair onto Vince's desk. Lol!
Rumour and innuendo
More pro Shawn anti Bret...
Funny that you don't admit that Shawn got his butt whooped.
Hate to break this to u but it's fake.
Arnie dlC pussy boy shawn got his ass whooped hard hahahaha bitch
The truth is Bret and Shawn had a bitch fight, pulling each other's hair, wrestlers that broke it up said they crashed through a fake wall, and they pulled each others hair, then it was over, not much of a fight, huh, anyone out there that can tell me different, I like to know.
Funny that you don't admit that Bret cheated on his wife multiple times making him a hypocrite of the highest order.
wayne clark He got his hair pulled out. That's hardly an ass whooping.
Sounds like The Bret won the shoot fight.
Does anyone wish WCW was still around ????? Bret Hart would destroy Shawn Micheals in a real fight
No sh*t captain obvious
And that's when the plan to oust Bret began
Can only see working in WCW as a Rocker.
If Hogan and Michaels were together in WCW some how there egos would have led to world war 3
they were in wwe together so maybe not
@@jakelang806 Shawn was never a star when hulk was there in the first round. And they barely engaged In 2002 to 2006 run and obviously mellowed out with age
This would have been Shawn's career had he left to wcw:
-show up acting like he's at odds with the nwo
-joins the nwo at the next ppv
-gets kicked out of the nwo (face turn)
-turns heel, joins nwo again
-turns face, leaves nwo again
-turns heel, joins nwo again
-turns face, leaves nwo again
-repeat process until Vince buys wcw
Well Bret got a good money deal in wcw but it also ruined his career which sucks
Of course bruce was in the office when shawn came in..1st time I heard that smh
With all of these "Doesn't work for me Brother" comments about Hogan i really wish Hogan would come back and someone would weave this into an actual storyline where some heel faction decides to just piss off the fans by putting the belt on Hogan AGAIN and then going out of their way to defend him and prevent anyone from taking it lol
Each week they'd taunt the fans about how no one is getting the belt off of Hogan anytime soon and Hogan could go full heel and embrace the whole "Doesn't work for me Brother" and make it into a shirt or something lol
Idea is that Hogan isn't actually wrestling (because he's too old and it would be silly) he's just showing up and the other guys are doing the work for him and getting a kick out of just angering the smart marks lol
Dubya cee dubya
A lot of these wrestlers need to be reminded exactly how it was when there were the territories.
Maybe that needs to come back so they can start that way.
Might fix the complaining about making only $200k a year or the bus is not fancy enough the hotel is only 3 star not 5.
If you want professional athlete money and attention then you should have gone and been a professional athlete be damm glad they feed you now and your not living on a loaf of bread.
If you look up Vince net worth then. He had enough money! But " I DONT GIVE GUARANTEES! I GIVE OPPORTUNITIES! YEAH TO GREEN HORNS! BUT TO PROVEN TALENT! VINCE WAS AND IS GREEDY!
Stacy Johnston i like eggs
That's not actual money he has on the bank idiot.
Net worth doesn't mean actual cash on hand.
I got beat up for swinging on someone. This is unsafe for me.
Is any truth to the rumor that Vince made Cornette chase HBK all over the building with Shawn's clumps of hair in one hand and a bottle of super glue in the other, in an attempt to cover up HBKs bald spot?
8:42 Mother F#@$er! lol
It's not crazy if they own the name
If hbk went to wcw there
B a new leader of nwo old hogan gone hbk in wat a fucking faction the oringal wolfpack
Bruce never wants to talk numbers, I wonder why?
It would have stopped him being rehired by wwe
it's known that shawn was making near 750 K while Bret was getting over a mil due to the bidding war.
