Thank you so much for all your videos -- especially watching your older videos about school days/med school/etc. I'm going to PH next year to study nursing and watching this video, helped a lot, even though it'll be 4 years until I pass HAHA. Hope you're doing well!!
Hi! I'm planning to take BS Nursing as a 2nd degree kasi I really wanted to study and in the long run work in the US. I just wanted to ask, because there are LVN in the US. What's the difference of that on being an RN?
LVNs and RNs are both licensed nurses, but their scope of practice varies depending on what state you’re in. :) So in some states, for example, LVNs might not be able to administer blood whereas RNs can. It just depends on your state!
Hi! I’m so glad I came across your channel. I’m a U.S. citizen looking to study nursing in the Philippines but am planning to work back in the states. Would I still have to take an English exam in order to work back in the U.S.? I already have a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S. under my belt and again, I’m a U.S. citizen, so I was wondering if an English exam would still apply to me? Also, would there be other requirements I can bypass as a U.S. citizen studying abroad in the Philippines?
This may be a long shot, but if you know anyone who was a PhRN and went to Canada instead. What were their experiences and processes like? I’m a dual Canadian-Filipino citizen living in Canada and I am planning to do what you did. Wherein I studying in the Ph, gain some experiences and later move back to their home country. Thanks in advance ate :)❤
hello, I'm a dual citizen (US/Fil) nclex passer, I have 2 siblings in the US which are both US navy but always transferring from station, in my case I don't have a place to stay in the US, what do you suggest do I need to undergo agency for me to find a direct hire hospital,
hi! this was during the transition period when the PH was about to add senior high school. basically, my college let me enroll as a 1st year nursing student even though I had only finished high school grade 11 in the US because at the time, it was equivalent in the PH to being a 1st yr in college. :)
Amazing video. I like that. I wanna ask, do I need to have a local license before taking the Nclex? If no, which states will accept me to take the Nclex without local nursing license.
I think New York is the only state I’m aware of for this! There are also states that don’t require a local license as long as you are a US citizen/visa holder, so it depends on your situation. :)
@@IoneNicole Great! One last question. If I have less than 2 years of work experience can I start processing? Or I need to complete my 2 years first before I start processing my papers? Thank you
@@marianneuy1638 You can start processing and take your NCLEX without the experience requirements. The number of years will only come into play when you are trying to get a Visa now. 😊
Do you think its practical to school BSN in the Philippines? Im a dual citizen and would like to get a RN license one day here in California. Will it be difficult?the requirements?
As someone who went this route, I graduated with my BSN having zero debt so I believe it’s an option to consider. :) I also have batchmates who are now working RNs in California so what you would like is really achievable! There’s additional paperwork before you can take the NCLEX but you end up at the same destination as those who do nursing in the US.
also varies by state! California is a pain. California Board of Nursing evaluates their own applicants, they could ask you re-take Med-Surg and/OB to be taken at a school in California or the entire program at all, won’t matter if you are licensed at another state. 🥲 Good luck on your journey Ione! You’ll learn a lot everyday!
@@gabbylopez8090 this is basically what I did. never got licensed in the Ph bc California BON does not need it at all. Just make sure you take your BSN at an accredited CHED university, i went to a State University and didnt get much problems licensing. Just make sure you take your OB/and surgical cases concurrently with your theories. The board will just ask you proof that you actually were in the country while in nursing school, they will ask for your passport copy front to back. I have worked with a lot of Filipino nurses my age who took their BSN in the Ph -State U’s, U-belts and are working here in California.
Amazing video loved the content but I have one question how did u land the job you have now is it that you sourced the job yourself and how or what did you do exactly ?
I have been approved to do NCLEX for New York , can I fly and do the NCLEX directly in NewYork state, am in a country where there is no near by test center, do you think I can be given the visa to go to the USA directly, I will appreciate your insights
I loved this video! I’ve been stressing out over the long process! I have a question i also have dual nationality did elementary through high school in the US but studied Nursing in Mexico. Do i need to take TOEFL If in applying in Texas?
But also, did your school in Mexico primarily teach in English? That would also make it very unlikely that you need an English exam because I did not need to submit any scores as a Filipino nursing graduate. :)
any advice on how to get hired as a new grad? haha. also, last time i commented on your videos was when i was asking about cgfns lol now I am a USRN :)
Omg congrats!! And actually this is my next video - I’m gonna explain how I found a job, how I set up my resume, etc so I’ll be sure to reply to this comment with the link to the vid when it’s up!! ☺️
Good evening! I'm currently a grade 12 student right now and I took STEM for me to get a course in college which is nursing. After finishing college and get my liscense, I have plans to work abroad. Unfortunately, I have a really poor eyesight and I'm using a dentures, is there any possibilities that I can continue to work abroad even if I have a health problems like that?
I was told by my friends in Illinois that they needed to take the Philippines board exam first! But I’m not totally sure so just double check on the Illinois BON website 😊
Hello. What's the usual process if I'm a Filipino about to graduate BSN, would it be possible to apply to US immediately after grad? Thank you and stay safe
Hi! As far as I know, it’s really difficult to apply to the US immediately after graduation without at least a year of experience. If you can obtain that, then there are some agencies who may hire you directly :)
Hey I have a question, so Im a dual citizen like you and my 1st choice was to go back to the philippines and study there to get my bachelors but all my family and friends here are suggesting that I should just study thru the AAS or associate degree which is just 2 years. Just wondering what you would suggest? I hope u notice this and answer coz im really stuck and I need to make a decision soon!! Thankyou
Hi! One nice thing about my decision to study in the Philippines is that I was able to study and get a bachelor’s degree for a much lower tuition fee than compared to the US, while also having the fun of studying abroad. Then as a dual citizen, the process to find work in the US was not an issue so ultimately, I ended up in the same place as my friends who studied in the US. Same destination, different paths. It’s really up to you :)

It varies by state, but for some, no you won’t need to get a Philippine license first. :) I have a friend with your same status who was able to take the NCLEX in Florida right away without taking PH boards. Some states like Illinois, however, do want you to take the PH boards first. So it just depends. 😊
Not necessarily, some states won’t require that you pass an english exam before the NCLEX. But you will 100% need IELTS/TOEFL for the cgfns visascreen service after. :)
