About hellstab after F+HP headbutt:
As comments have pointed out, this beats backdash and jump. That's why I recommend adding delayed drive reversal to your play after blocking his headbutt (hellstab and any other buttons loses to this options). Be sure to mix up your defensive options!
Zangief can literally frametrap you with his SPD and his jabs. You will not get your turn back against a good player. You are better trying to neutral jump and bait the SPD. Your setup only work if your opponent jab you once and doesn't space you. If he jab you twice on blockstring, it is game over and you have no window of anticipation.

Fellow Gief mains, when people forward jump, use flying knee to carry you forward just enough to get the cross cut counter SPD. If you're getting back dashed a lot, use Siberian express or charge heavy punch instead of SPD to chase them down and catch them pressing buttons.

I can tell you're not a Zangief player though, because you think after f+HP, he can only frame trap you with cr.LP. Oh no, he can frame trap you and stop you from jumping or backdashing with Hellstab (df+MP)... AND hit confirm into full combos from that. Hellstab is 7f and has 3f active frames. So there's a 3f gap after f+HP if he does Hellstab.
Also, he is still in range to do Heavy SPD after Headbutt. So he can actually deal 3300 damage (3400 for OD version), not just 2500.

Actually, the BEST guaranteed way to punish the overhead... is to Drive Impact it. Try it out... works every time. When you train yourself a bit on the animation, you can DI it on reaction practically every time. I know I always look forward to Giefs doing that so I can punish them for free. Just crouch block in case they go for sweep, but react with a DI during your crouch block. Now the only hard part is when they do DR SPD. But even if they throw overheads randomly in neutral, it's an easy DI reaction punish.
DI works against HP as well, to a lesser degree. Charged HP is a pretty free punish, but the uncharged one can get you reverse DI'd if you DI it too late.

Also, you can bait and punish Gief's HP a bit safer if you poke with a very active poke, like Ken/Ryu st.HP or Kimberly st.MK. When your poke gets absorbed by Zangief's HP, cancel your poke into DI. It will beat his HP every time. Either poke or actively fish for HP xx DI to stop their st.HP. Less active pokes like Cammy's st.HP can do the same thing, but it's harder to do.

Haha thx, I will need to switch Char against Gief. Either Akuma or Guile or Ryu to zone his ass. But I suck at zoning, I’m used to normal neutral and rushing down. Or Jamie and spam fierce palm 😂

You don't need to change characters, you can learn the matchup and/or the game better. Some matchups definitely are tougher than others. Zangief has long range tools that are hard to whifg punish so that will be hard for characters without projectiles or similar long range buttons. I know because I play Cammy. But I also play Zangief so I know how to better deal with his buttons.
If you play Jamie, stMK will be your friend, and cr.MP, HP, that forward step kick assuming it can cancel into DI. Sweep, cr MK, etc. LK to catch his lower leg attacks, HP to catch his upper body attacks, I'm assuming. From general SF6 knowledge.

Risk/reward for backdash and forward jump is going to change a lot based on your character, screen position and life/drive gauge so it’s not really possible to give a specific answer

I think you can also drive impact the overhead? I was in a local tournament and a zangief player gave me the tip to just drive impact if the Zangief player just keeps drive rushing and doing a kick after the SPD. Unless it the medium kick you will catch him.
Though you should probably stop immediately because they will most likely attempt a medium kick after being drive impacted. :)

Zangief can also hit confirm hellstab instead of frame trapping with lights for significantly more damage.
I only play Zangief, it's good to see what are my opponents options and what can be done to outdo them!!!

An anti-Manon guide would be too cruel, it's like kicking someone when they're down.
About the headbutt frametrap into normal throw. Doesn't matter if you neutral, back jump or forward jump if they whiffed a normal throw, they can do SA1 and catch you. Of course, only if they used normal throw. If they did spd, they can't antiair

for the scenario in minutes 5:34, Zangief can do hellstab combo, instead of jab combo. so it will take more damage. because it's -4 on block, so hellstab which has startup 7 will do the frame trap as well

But if I had to pick, I would say DJ and guile, hyper offense and defense. Also I agree that Gief is strong right now. I just know, as well as everybody else should, that his flaws stare you right in the face, and there are plenty. Whereas others does not and are less

5:30 what. Zangief can frame trap into hellstab and easily confirm into lariat, that's free and does 2200 damage. For 3 bars he gets OD lariat + Oki. Only reason to do a light after headbutt is to catch jumps and DPs at the same time
Wakeup DI actually beats both DR>sweep and DR>wheel kick. with 25 frames of recovery it is in fact impossible to get a wheel kick meaty enough to recover on time to counter DI.
I'm surprised not to see delayed jab be an option against headbutt. Too many people just let their drive gauge run out blocking two or even three headbutts in a row, and a jab delayed enough to catch another headbutt but block a hellstab is a good way to force zangief to actually commit to SPD.

i cannot seem to get the backdash drill to work. geif won't backdash fast enough on wakeup and i just end up meaty throwing him. i"m even doing recording after input and still having issues.

Non of your tips include wakeup ex dp or reversal super so I'm not sure what to make of them.
Cool video. However, Rashid is the most frustrating character to fight this season 2. His mobility et level 2 super have non sense. Most of the time, I loose to Rashid when he uses his level 2, though I managed the fight well. Hope you release a video on how to counter it.
Why perfect parry the overhead when you can just DI?
For gauge management and side-switch opportunities. DI is a great option too I forgot to include that

He’s really good in this version!
I always fear this MU. Both Ken and Zangief need to get in. Arguably Ken more so than Gief, based on his limited damage potential. I mean, Ken’s the mixup king (some would say Rashid), but he does no damage even with DRC. Gief’s face tilts me automatically. Win rate is 50/50 (I only play casuals).
Ken shouldn’t be going for dmg with DRC in this matchup unless it kills. Instead, use it for corner carry then run your corner pressure game as hard as you can since gief has poor reversal options.
@@Chris_F I’m against DRCs in general unless I can know I confirm. I do actually do a lot of “Daigo special” DRCs, i.e., low forward DRC into jab true blockstring, shimmy and low fierce into BnBs. With Zangief, he just murders your Drive Meter. I’m pretty diligent with managing Drive Meter, but Gief is scary AF. As you well know, Ken can’t really zone, his FB is kinda useless, except as a shield for raw DR or meaty OD on wake-up / chip. The hurtbox is ridiculously huge.
So, because his FB is useless, he can’t really play the zone / anti-air game like Akuma, Ryu, Guile.
So, I’m thinking of pocketing Guile or Akuma for the Gief matchup. I want to frustrate the Gief player, I want to get him/her to make errors. Or maybe I’ll give up my main entirely and just play Jamie - “for love of the game” lol. Palm palm palm ✋ 🤣
