A Cruel Angels Thesis (Director's Edit Vers II)

Neon Genesis Evangelion Addition is the fourth music album released relating to the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. It features three instrumental, five vocal, and four drama tracks. Addition was released on December 21, 1996 in Japan by King Records in a limited and a regular addition, which respectively bear the catalog numbers KICA-333 and KICA-334. The limited edition album was released to include a movie ticket for the first Evangelion movie, Evangelion: Death and Rebirth which was released on March 15, 1997. The album cover features an illustration by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the series character designer.

This is basically the entire story's theme condensed into the literal theme song. Imagine as you are listening to this, that you are Shinji. This is his dream. These 3 people are his passion and his terror at the same time, and he wants to be able to articulate his feelings to all of them, to empathize and connect with them on some level, but because of his social inability, and crippling anxiety and inferiority complex, he can't do it. An entire childhood of parental neglect and general apathy has left him a completely passive passenger to his own life.
In this song's lyrics, which are basically a background track to his entire character arc, all 3 of these girls he feels all these intense emotions for just... know, and reciprocate. They love him, they praise him, they give him the connection of affection, both romantic and maternal, and show him kindness and gentle understanding.
The lyrics are literally all he wants to hear:
"We love you, we accept you, you did a good job, and you matter. Its ok Shinji. We're right here and we believe in you. Be a legend, you've had it in you all along."
The way it all comes together is just incredible.
