  • In contrast to the first video, things don't go so well for the resistance this time around. I do manage to sway one more area over to our control, though our hometown turns their backs on us, I die a lot trying to fight a 1v30 engagement and many men are killed because I drove up a hill.

      Yes they fall very slowly, though they tend to drop a way out from their objective so if you're in a hilly area or if that wasn't the only type of unit sent you won't really be targeting them

    A little tip for those who are joining the map: It's not needed to completely avoid a roadblock. You can make a wide turn to the side of the roadblock going offroad and they won't even care. As a side note: It must be far enough for them not to bother (15m+) but not too far so you don't lose Undercover status

      I'm basically at the point where I just need to take more outposts to win and it still happens to me too. It seems like so long as you have an unlimited supply of a weapon and that weapon suits the role the soldier has, there is a chance they can take that weapon at random when they spawn. The only outlier to this is that AT teams always seem to take the same launcher.

    I'll be honest that undercover being ruined when driving away from the road mechanic boggles the mind, There are so few actual roads in this game that it really puts you in a bind; and if your base isn't near a road, you just can't have a car.

    • @JackArden
      @JackArden  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this was implemented as a way to force you to drive through roadblocks and so you couldn't park up behind a military base and scale a nearby hill undetected. I agree with you though, especially when a lot of the dirt backroads behind towns where you would access some of the nicer base locations (like walled-off compounds of buildings) aren't recognised as roads by the mission. The way overthrow handles roadblocks and driving offroad is much better in comparison.

    • @starwarsfan117
      @starwarsfan117 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JackArden My original base was gonna be over in the forest until I realized I couldn't actually drive without the same dieties from morrowind and halo 2 guardians nicking my info to provide to every local USMC base on the island; Up to and including my social security number.
      I'll admit You've got this game down to a science, I started a map of antistasi a3 and so far I've only been able to do a handful of missions, And I can't seem to do anymore because every mission requires me to go past several well armed, well fortified positions to even reach my objectives; and for some reason delivering food gives more attention than stealing a whole truck full of guns.
      How do you do it? Fr I'm starting to view this as the Pathologic of Milsims because of all the save scumming i need to do to even keep up. I want to enjoy this mod but I feel like I'm totally on the backfoot, I have no towns; assassination missions all send me to full firebases; rescue ops are all suicide missions; I can't seem to get a real foothold.

    • @JackArden
      @JackArden  ปีที่แล้ว

      I spent well over 250 hours on this first series, savescumming was the norm after 100 or so hours. If anything went seriously wrong to the point I felt it made a bad video, I'd restart and try it again. You can probably find examples of this in the series where I'd use footage from different takes and my car would change colour when I left the base and when I got to my objective. This didn't happen too often, I wasn't trying to make myself seem a better player than I am, I just couldn't stand the idea of explaining why I'd done half my objective but not included it in the end video.
      As for how I did this, I spent a lot of time off-cam cleaning the map. Hit and runs on checkpoints, saving/reloading to skip dumb objectives, defending my base from all the attacks I got off the back of the failed missions, reducing aggro so I could actually move around the map, etc. By the time I got to the end of the series I spent more time recapturing map markers in a tank than I did recording gameplay. If I didn't skip recording these parts of the mission, I'd have probably made the series 10x longer and that's no understatement.
      That's not to say I was doing anything harmful to myself though, I still enjoyed my first playthrough of the mission, but for people who repeatedly ask why I don't play more of this mission, this playthrough is why haha
      To finish, a tip about your fortified position problem- Use mortars. Until you have enough armoured vehicles to simply punch holes in anything in your way, the mortars you can buy at base are your best friend. You even start with one in the garage. Simply drive near the thing you want to bomb, leave an AI teammate on "wait" there to keep the position loaded in, drive back enough to be able to set up without getting shot and bomb them. So long as you were far enough away from the enemy to go back undercover when you get into your car, you can simply drive past the formerly-fortified position.

    • @starwarsfan117
      @starwarsfan117 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JackArden as always I am blown away by the level of detail included; I have actually been having a little more luck; towns usually join very slowly but I am gaining some ground, I even took a couple outposts before losing them almost immediately through QRF measures; There's a powerplant I've actually drilled enough times that I can semi reliably take it with just a rifle and scope; It's a lot easier to do at night because then they have big obvious flashlights and the AI loses its god tier aim.
      I did see you use that mortar method later in this playthrough, I wasnt aware I could buy them at my base however; I'm gonna have to try one of those on the powerplant op, I have a feeling it'd be even easier if I could hit em from a mile off; Its right next to my base though and I've had QRF kill Petros a couple times, don't know if that means j should take the base, Or just leave em be.
      I do have an idea I wanna try when I unlock the anti air turrets, But I wanna take a pickup truck and tow it with someone manning it; I can't make a Toyota Hilux with the AA in the bed; so I gotta bring Toyota Hilux technical from home 🤣🤣
      I have noticed when taking certain outposts, That you can just go incognito; walk into the base dressed as a trash man; set up in a tower and just gun em all down while they're busy trying to figure out why tony the trash man just wrecked their shit. So far that is my favorite method; although it's super risky; But it's fun!
      What I am hearing is that this, is a long game 😅🤣

    • @JackArden
      @JackArden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes... it's a very long one to do solo. The only way around it is to have enough active people chipping away at map markers to completely outpace the game.
      If you're going to use mortars on powerplants/factories, just be careful of civilians. Each of them usually has 5 or so civ workers. If they all die, the area is considered destroyed, which means it does nothing until an enemy recaptures and rebuilds it. You also lose support in the surrounding towns for the civ kills.
      The AI generally patrols about a KM out from their base, so ideally you'd want to move somewhere that's 2/3KM away from any major map markers. The QRFs are even worse with this because the aircraft have a massive sighting range, so not only do you need the distance but it's best to put a major terrain feature like a big hill between you and any map markers.
      As for walking in incognito, this becomes increasingly hard to pull off as your war level increases. The higher it is, the higher the chance you're recognised and attacked when entering an outpost or passing a checkpoint. At max war level, it's impossible to get in stealthily.
