      How does it work using a stove with a relatively smaller (at least compared to what I'm used to) volume of water for heating hot water in the summer? Are you able to keep a fire going pretty much all the time? Or do you build a new fire every day or so to get your water temperature back up and then draw the water temp back down without necessarily keeping a fire going?

      I have no problem keeping a fire going. I think the smaller volume of water cools quicker and requires the draft blower to kick on more often.

      @@GlennConner Thanks again! I was worried that the fire would smolder enough, even with good seals in the doors, to boil the water if I wasn't using enough hot water, or that the fire wouldn't smolder enough to keep going, and that the fire would go out completely every night.

    Looking forward to a video when you fire it up. Thanks.

    I have the H-4 which is the larger version of the H-2. I have only one pump and it runs all the time, I wired it that way thinking I didn't want to have to wait for the pump to send the water all the way back to the house. IF.... the underground pipe is well insulated there will be minimal heat loss. Glad to see your sticking with the Hardy.
    How is that going to work with heating the water on T-stat (domestic)?

      Yeah, I'm well pleased with the hardy brand. I hated to hear that they went out of business recently though. Thanks for watching!

      @@GlennConner Tell me please, how running the domestic hot water pump side will work off of the thermostat. Seems that should run all the time?

    • @GlennConner
      @GlennConner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't got that far yet. For now, I do have that pump running all the time. But basically you add a thermostat to your hot water tank then it sends signal to the relay on the stove to turn on the pump. There is also a pump on the hot water tank circulating dom water through a plate heat exchanger all the time. I want to make an in depth video whenever I get around to it.

    Don't you have to have a pump that runs all the time if you're going to have your heat exchanger for your domestic hot water in your house?

    • @GlennConner
      @GlennConner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can or you can control the pump with a thermostat on the hot water tank.

      @@GlennConner Thanks! Does your heat exchanger heat the water in your hot water tank even if you're not using any water? The only heat exchangers I've seen that go on hot water tanks are mounted on the outside and only heat water as it's flowing into or out of the hot water tank. At least that's my understanding of how they work. Are there also heat exchangers that go into the hot water tank itself? If so, I assume they would be specialty tanks, not just standard electric hot water heaters modified to work with outdoor water stoves?

    • @GlennConner
      @GlennConner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is mounted on the outside of the hot water tank and has two pumps one on the tank and one on the stove. You could put both on the same thermostat but it wouldn't be as hot or responsive. I think the best way is to have the pump on the stove run all the time and use a thermostat on the pump on the tank.

    Get away from the Hardy and get a central boiler.
