I don't know what the lyrics are about, but that's the best song i ever heard of my life! Simply amazing! What a mix! Thank you, so powerfull! I can't stop listening!
Shiyam koliya, this whole song call tokari geet is about lord krishna, its about his childhood in bridawan and jamuna ,and his lila,,.. any many more !
This is real Assamese who wants to show our Assamese culture in front of the world but there are many persons from Assam who just ignore our culture even he/she is also from Assam they forgets our culture when they step in Mumbai
What a song.... Don't know the meaning of lyrics but clearly feel the attachment with the song. I become your Fan Popon and Sughandha. And yes these folk artists are UNDER RATED. Talents in North East region are still waiting to be explored....
Very commendable effort by Papon to bring the music ingeniousness residing in the folklore of Assam to a bigger audience.. This is Tokari and other genre of folk songs like Jumoor , Goalporia Lukogeet , Bihu are equally good and the various blends with Punjabi , Bhojpuri and Rajasthani..are rare successful experiments... National integraton on Music :-)
I am not an assamee but this made some magic on me that I come to listen this song again n again😍I have remembered the lyrics even. The original version of this song'Shamorai kolia' is also very beautiful👌❤
this is the best coke stuido single of any I have heard. absolute beauty. the rahman ones are over rated. then there is the usual high viewership sufi cliche. Pappon has an awesome voice. and my god love Sugandha's smoky huskyvoice.
what do u mean by "not just punjabi" ?? can ur two or three north eastern songs compete with poooonjabi fever which rules bollywood, europe and America??
Ashis Borah i am from Haryana...Haryana, Delhi and Punjab are three brothers like your seven sisters...he said not just punjabi isiliye mujhe gussa aa gaya...bura laga ho toh sorry...
+Haryanvijaat1 lol whats wrong in not just punjabi... maximum songs are in punjabi if you havent noticed... thoda anger management ka course kar lo..itni choti cheez mein gussa aana is ridiculous...

we use dis type of song while worship... here some added modern instrumental fusion... but our all songs are krishna relted.... (rest of Indians think that north east people are christian n oll...but in North East, we hv total 8 states and evry state have different language ..tradition and culture...infct we dnt know about other culture and languages of other states of northeast... so here we r Assamese people are total Hinduism and our God is Krishna and we have same culture and tradition wth rest indians) but we can't show our culture to rest of Indians and they think we r Christians and we r diffrnt frm them and our food is diffrnt... But actually we r not.... our krishna janmasthomi...raslina..Holi are the biggest god relted festival.. but nobody knows!!!! and Bihu is our agricultural based festival when Indian new year came).. if u meet one day a guy frm north east Meghalaya or Nagaland and a guy from Assam or asomiya dn u will get d diffrnce...many Asomiya girl r working in Mumbai TV serials .. but nobody can recognise them dt dy r frm northeast bcz dy r not luk diffrnt frm rest of Indians....
Puja Bordoloi We are all Indians. I have many friends from northeast- from 3 states over there- including Assam. Retrograde thinkers will be there in any society- that doesn't eliminate the fact that most Indians do not hold these grudges. Just that haters are the loudest - doesn't mean they are the majority. We all love Papon and as for my personal opinion, northeast people are closer to nature than any of us. They respect women. The guys are humble and sweet. And girls are just the perfect combination of brave and nice/ soft at heart.. So, please don't explain yourself. We do love you.
Its really amazing how beautifully Papon has fused traditional music and its really a treat to watch Papon perform. One can get such positive energy from simply watching him perform. His music is of completely another level !! Though this song is perfect as it is, considering the recent collaboration between him and Nucleya, i'd really love to hear Nucleya's drop in this song as well! Love from Nepal!
Alright. Being a Pakistani one should carefully listen to all Coke Studio India songs, and than comment (Since it is hard to swallow anything critical from another nation:-). These were the best ones that I like: -- Peekaboo-Karsh Kale (everything good except the damn rappers and English lyrics are annoying) -- Dilruba-Kailash (flawless) -- Dinae Dinae- Papon (flawless) -- Tauba- Papon (flawless) -- Yaar Basainda-Saint Thyagaraaja (everything good, though male singing could be improved) -- Hoo-Harshdeep Kaur (everything good except the vocals are a bit too echoed) -- Mauj Naina (flawless) -- Husna-Hitesh Sonik (flawless) -- Khwajababa-Shaantanu Moitra (flawless) -- Khumaar-Papon (flawless) -- Tokari-Papon (flawless) Based on the Coke Studio India songs alone, I think Papon is the most gifted musician. Coke Studio India should let him take control :-) Do share your favourites from Coke Studio Pakistan. Keep up the good work. Love from a Lahori :-)
I love this! Have been hearing it for months. I love how elements of Assamese folk music and electronic music have been fused. Really. Fusion is the way to go if we want to preserve our culture as well as revive it.
@@bablaidebbarma I also don't know the full meaning... I can understand some lines because of my Bengali heritage... But not all... Assamese and Bengali language have some similarities... But in a lot of ways, they are different too... The song is about Krishna playing the flute at the banks of Yamuna and Brindavan...
It's called tokari geet, which is based on the description of Lord Krishna. It has its genesis in the Ek Saran Naam Dharma propounded by our revered Guru Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev
Wonderful! After Jhumoor, it is another song from Papon and then combo goes with Sugandha that again I find myself again in lush green Ahom valleys. Keep that up for folks like us in abroad to remain in touch with our soil.

Highly talented team... meticulously performed by Papon & co-artists. Lots of love and wishes from Bangladesh.
i am bengali and i just luv this song though i dont understand Assamese!
composed soo geniously!
Read the lyrics if you can't understand the pronunciation. You'll be able to understand. Cz it has so many similarities with Bengali.
It is a folk song... Papon can't write it
Also me from Bangladesh but loving this by papon grupe.
I'm so glad that they didn't let any ads in the beginning or end of the song❤️ can listen to it on loop😌
জয় আই অসম ❤️🔥
one of da best of papon's composition..... beautifully recreated......... hats off.... assam rocks❤❤❤❤
I don't know what the lyrics are about, but that's the best song i ever heard of my life! Simply amazing! What a mix! Thank you, so powerfull! I can't stop listening!
It is Assamese language of Assam, noerth-east india... it is a folk song called Tokari geet.....
Its about lord Krishna you can understand those words
Don't understand a word. Put translations like CS Pakistan. Nonetheless, fantastic composition! One the best among CS India!
I'm not from assam nd I'm not understanding this song a single line , but yet this is my favorite song... Love to listen Assamese song
Jai assam...
Thanks for your lovely
Shiyam koliya, this whole song call tokari geet is about lord krishna, its about his childhood in bridawan and jamuna ,and his lila,,.. any many more !
This is real Assamese who wants to show our Assamese culture in front of the world but there are many persons from Assam who just ignore our culture even he/she is also from Assam they forgets our culture when they step in Mumbai
if our folk songs are re-composed and sung in this fashion, then we all will forget western songs & music !
Yess ... It's right
Assamese kirtan n bhajans have elements of rock music right 500years ago
What you say Rajendra singh
This is amazing
But folks are always folks
If it is remixed then what's the use of folk songs and culture
....and then there will be none of folk music left!!! :D
What a song.... Don't know the meaning of lyrics but clearly feel the attachment with the song. I become your Fan Popon and Sughandha.
And yes these folk artists are UNDER RATED. Talents in North East region are still waiting to be explored....
The song is about Lord Krishna
This is my language song 😊
Assam is more advanced then many other state in india.
So proud to be an Assamese.... Kodom tole kanai muruli bojai❤️❤️
this is the best coke stuido single of any I have heard. absolute beauty. the rahman ones are over rated. then there is the usual high viewership sufi cliche.
Pappon has an awesome voice. and my god love Sugandha's smoky huskyvoice.
shankyxyz absolutely agree with you. Papon was a recent discovery for me and i am totally taken by his gorgeous and rich voice :)
+shankyxyz and i thought i was the only one to think so :)
+Vishwaroop Ray Agreed. Their creation are just different.
Vishwaroop Ray
rahma's coke studio singles are over-rated. I am not saying in general he is over-rated. that would be plain silly.
i don't think music restrict from any languages.....just need to enjoy and enjoy...go for it
It's Assamese
omg this is so beautiful....thank you coke studio...please bring the music of the entire country n not just punjabi...
what do u mean by "not just punjabi" ?? can ur two or three north eastern songs compete with poooonjabi fever which rules bollywood, europe and America??
+Haryanvijaat1 please buddy! don't discriminate.. learn to respect every culture
Cosmic Nightfall maine usko sorry bhi kaha aur tujhe woh nazar nhi aya..padhe likhe babu...
Joi Aai Akhom.... Jai Shree Ram.... From Assam
Jai Siya Ram

Lyrics so much rich...... Love it
oh! Lord Krishna)
(Under the shade of kadam tree,
with all his cattle,
kanha plays the flute)
(along the banks of Yamuna river,
lord krishna is playing the flute
mother Yashoda has heard him now)
(O lord krishna,
where will you run today?
to Yamuna riverside?
to the shade of kadam tree?
Mother Yashoda will catch you,
and will tie you to a tree.)
(In the fields of vrindavan,
krishna's cows are grazing,
while he is enjoying playing his flute.
On hearing the sound of his flute,
gopis lose all their senses and get immersed into the music.)
awesome songs with translation gud work
right ..tia ...khan
Hyder Jaman thank you
we use dis type of song while worship... here some added modern instrumental fusion... but our all songs are krishna relted....
I'm from kolkata but I live in assam..this one is my fav song
Papon- Master of Fusion music
Papon Da pushing the creating new boundaries in Assamese song and culture
Its really amazing how beautifully Papon has fused traditional music and its really a treat to watch Papon perform. One can get such positive energy from simply watching him perform. His music is of completely another level !! Though this song is perfect as it is, considering the recent collaboration between him and Nucleya, i'd really love to hear Nucleya's drop in this song as well! Love from Nepal!
Alright. Being a Pakistani one should carefully listen to all Coke Studio India songs, and than comment (Since it is hard to swallow anything critical from another nation:-). These were the best ones that I like:
-- Peekaboo-Karsh Kale (everything good except the damn rappers and English lyrics are annoying)
-- Dilruba-Kailash (flawless)
-- Dinae Dinae- Papon (flawless)
-- Tauba- Papon (flawless)
-- Yaar Basainda-Saint Thyagaraaja (everything good, though male singing could be improved)
-- Hoo-Harshdeep Kaur (everything good except the vocals are a bit too echoed)
-- Mauj Naina (flawless)
-- Husna-Hitesh Sonik (flawless)
-- Khwajababa-Shaantanu Moitra (flawless)
-- Khumaar-Papon (flawless)
-- Tokari-Papon (flawless)
Based on the Coke Studio India songs alone, I think Papon is the most gifted musician. Coke Studio India should let him take control :-)
Do share your favourites from Coke Studio Pakistan.
Keep up the good work.
Love from a Lahori :-)
Amit Kumar Singh Thanks. Interesting comment about the mixing and mastering. This is new info. Please share the source, etc.
You really have good taste and sense of music. But to me almost every Coke studio India song sounds like crap compared to Tokari. No offence.
lol. None taken.
The son of one of the most musical couples of Assam is bound to have some hi class musical genes. Proud to say he is Assamese.
My favorites from CS Pak, Afreen Afreen, Rang, Chap Tilak, Allah Hu Akbar (always gives me goosebumps and tears).
I love this! Have been hearing it for months. I love how elements of Assamese folk music and electronic music have been fused.
Really. Fusion is the way to go if we want to preserve our culture as well as revive it.
Proud To Be An Assamese. জয় আই অসম ( Joi Aai Axom).❣️❣️❣️❣️

Palash Sahu thx for the lyrics. As a Bangladeshi and bangali I can relate some sentencess with Bengali and understand about 50-60% of it. Great song
Translate some lines please
@@bablaidebbarma I also don't know the full meaning... I can understand some lines because of my Bengali heritage... But not all... Assamese and Bengali language have some similarities... But in a lot of ways, they are different too... The song is about Krishna playing the flute at the banks of Yamuna and Brindavan...
Dew
