Wondering out loud here, is it possible that the pool chemicals from that filter area might be off gassing if they back flush to the ground area? I have seen where these chemicals attack metal surfaces.
Most of these guys don't use software for estimating prices which is why you will see wild variation in prices and the highest price doesn't ensure the best product or best install. Price estimation software is usually used on larger jobs where competitive bids are required. Many companies will use software (or claim to use it) to properly size your equipment but most of the time, sizing equipment is not rocket science. If you watch Steve Lav's videos, he seems to run across many homes up north that have a condensing unit that is too large or not properly matched correctly to the furnace/air handler/coil.
Screw shadow box....just space the pickets by an inch or 1.5....shadow box is for situations where u care about the appearance on both sides which isn't this one
Fence that close would actually make it louder. The sound waves easily bounce off fence walls and remain concentrated to escape upward. Think about how old speakers and subwoofers were made before the digital age. That fence is purely decorative built to hide that new pool filter that’s sitting right next to the AC. And that fence was new looking as well
Quick question, never seen the meter socket connected to the disconnects. Were those for some sort of reading what the AC was using and no longer needed at this point? Thanks for the video. Hopefully you get the job.

I think what you are seeing is the old style load control housings for when they first came out.
