    Reuters Text:
General Mobutu Sese Seko, the President of Zaire, was the guest of honour at the celebration of Togo's National Liberation Day. The two-day celebration marked the seventh anniversary of the military take-over that elevated Togo President, General Etienne Eyadema to power.
There was signing, dancing and parades to mark the occasion. The biggest parade was held in the capital, Lome. General Mobutu and General Eyadema watched from the reviewing stand.
General Eyadema took power in a coup staged on 13 January, 1967 that ousted Nicholas Grunitzky who had been president since 1963.
General Eyadema, who was a Lieutenant-Colonel in command of the Army at the time of the coup, said he had no political ambitions and installed Colonel Kleber Dadju as head of an eight-man National Committee of Reconciliation.
But, in 1972, General Eyadema became President and perpetuated the ruling army junta in office but with growing civilian influence. The public supported General Eyadema and the Army junta in a referendum.
In a speech given at his arrival in Lome, General Mobutu said that Africa has a long way to go before achieving unity. He warned that from time to time there are differences between African nations and enemies try to take advantage of these petty divisions. But, General Mobutu said, he believed that African unity would be achieved one day, only the means of attaining it are lacking.

Two ex-dictators. Where are they today. Gone, gone not remembered for anything but the brutality and kleptomania. U have gone to answer to ur creators for ur deeds and also come face to face with the many thousands u murdered. The billions that u stole from ur people and would never be recovered are being used to develop countries in the west and other while u have left ur people and countries in object poverty. Rot in hell!

Mobutu était en avance sur son temps et combattu pour ses idées nationalistes, tels que le retour à nos racines, l’authenticité zaïroise
