StarCraft: Shadow of the Xel'Naga is a StarCraft novel, written by author Gabriel Mesta. The story acts as an interquel between Episode III of Starcraft and Brood War. It became a part of the StarCraft Archive.
The campaign is an adaptation of this novel.
Howd'y boys. This "Shadow of the Xel'Naga" is a StarCraft novel, written by author Gabriel Mesta. The story acts as an interquel between Episode III of Starcraft and Brood War. It became a part of the StarCraft canon. And this campaign is made by OutsiderXE, we worked together with the AI voices. I wanted to show this campaign because this has solid gameplay and storytelling. You can play this on Starcraft 2 arcade. It's also co-op!
"It's also co-op!"
Looks cool. I will try it!
Arthas: I can find more seashells if you use your scanner device
You mean **Far Sight** ? You are teaming up with Orcs???
"Octavia! DID YOU DESTROY THE COOLANT TOWER?!" said Lars, calmly.
"Howdy boys, I'm Octavia. Rancher of these here parts."
A starcraft novel as a fan-made campaign?Hell yeah
it wasn't a good book..... it was quite bad.
Oooh, I remember this one. Once all three races are on Bekhar Ro, fighting it out like they usually do, it sometimes feels like "Gabriel Mesta" had someone play Starcraft for them, and they simply wrote down what they saw. XD Gabriel Mesta, btw, is a pen-name for Kevin J. Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta.
Ventriloquism unlocked.
Oh yeah, I remember that one. Hands down, the most immersive SC2 campaign I've ever played.
What a cozy scenario, man this universe and community breathes life into this game!
finally! more sc2 contents from my fave content creator, Nral! :)
A Terran colony left untouched by all the wars? Nice concept.
i loved outsiderXE's wrc3 campaigns and excited to try this one!
Glad you could scan it, Uther.
Glad I'm subscribed to this channel. I need my starcraft campaign fix.
I covered "Queen of Blades"/Lord of Fire. I may as well try this out too. What names do you think I should give the Bhekar Ro Zerg characters?

Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate: Shadow of the Xel'Naga…
A Brood whose name has since been discarded used to be under the Overmind's Swarm before the Cerebrate deserted and settled on a fringe world named Bhekar Ro. As a result, and because of some of the substances on the planet, they turned Feral (but never connected with the Feral Guard), and missed everything that happened during Infested Kerrigan's uprising as well as their clash with the Protoss and Terrans.
Our story begins with a pair of Feral Zerg (Hydralisk O and Overlord L, names pending) herding a bunch of local critters brimming with essence for the hive cluster. O and L lost their previous one years ago to a disaster that managed to spare them.
O and L soon brought the critters to the Hatchery under the Brood Queen R when there came a tremor. R told O and L to investigate [in addition to dealing with a particularly dangerous flightless avian], and allowed L control over a few non-sapient Zerglings and Drones for protection and gathering respectively.
During their time away from the Swarm, the Bhekar Ro Brood learned how to collect vespene without mutating an Extractor, but it's more inefficient, making it viable only when the geysers are nearly exhausted.
There were also a few Sunken Colonies around that have somehow become lethargic due to the ambient atmosphere, but pepped up as soon as L and O approached them, helping deal with the main avian once and for all. They also had to deal with a couple of berserk Sunken Colonies by getting around, especially for O since L didn't get to evolve Ventral Sacs.
Eventually, after returning all the vespene in the area to R and relinquishing control over the Drones, O and L found the source of the disturbance: an ancient structure of sorts. L moved closer than O would have preferred as they debated whether or not this discovery was worth bringing to the Swarm's attention when the Xel'Naga structure reacted and…absorbed L and any nearby remaining Zerglings into it as O broke a hasty retreat. As she did, the structure shot out a massive beam of light skyward.
Looks interesting, wish it had custom music as it does not often fit with the Redneck redemption vibe of the missions, with the random mines, animal kingdom united like zergs against you, malfunctioning murder machines and the only thing they really worried about is if the cows won't fall of the cliffs :P
I'm not sold on Octavia's voice - it is nice, for sure - but it gives extremely robotic vibes, makes me think of EVA units (UI voice) from C&C games, especially Red Alert 3.
Still it is looking fun!
Gabriel Mesta is a pen name of author Kevin J Anderson, infamous ruiner of the Dune series. This is one of his better works though, even if the book is a little odd at times.
This is the second campaign on Sc2 I played (first being Odyssey) and probably the one that made me lmao the most with my friend. It might become a little annoying sometimes but from what I remember everything is balanced. Hope you'll have fun with your mate too !
USE THE SCANNER DEVICE TO REVEAL THE GAS!
lets go!
Lars: 31 adrenaline use! what a junkie.
The book was not bad 5/10 but I'll be watching all the episodes here. :D And that Cain voice. xD
We Terrans have to stick together
This campaign is looking awesome!!
Octavia's voice feels awkward and out of mix at the moment... maybe a different source might make it sound more natural?
Unfortunately I cant make any changes at this point. OutsiderXE may have something better for it in the future though.
Oh, that book. Kind of a downer ending.
That was a lot of chicken nuggets.
super cool bro
I remember playing this over a whole @$$ year ago, honestly, not terrible, also i thought there were no voice lines…
Moo~ are you happy now?
Tambien puedes hacer una campaña de que pasaria si kael no fuese ayudado por lady vashj
2:09, oh, i thought it was a mine i didn't see. Lol.
Aaah... FRESH MEAT.
This is one of the StarCraft novels I have not read... does it really begin with preventing cows from blindly falling off cliffs?
I remember something like that but not sure.
I read the starcraft books back in the day, but I remember almost nothing.
@@ExecutorNral This is the one where the Xel'Naga Temple eats all the Zerg and Protoss at the end right? I vaguely remember a book where the Zerg eats a dog and they make an entire new strain of Zerg dogs against the Terran Civilians.
Oof Octavia's voice is a bit rough isn't it?
Diablo reference with cow level?
There is no cow level?
It's a cheat from Starcraft 1 which makes you complete any singleplayer level instantly. But cow level joke is releated to Diablo.
@ExecutorNral yeah, I know, I'm also a big fan of Blizz games 😊 It was also my first thought when I saw the cows at the beginning of the level.
yep... that's a cow alright.
I like the mission it self, but omg the ai voices are bad in this one >.<
I suppose not everyone sounds as glorious as Lord Garithos!
the names seem familiar... is this based on one of the novels?
Yes.
5 min gang
Deckard😂
