Just to add a piece of helpful advice!! When I first tried this I couldn't figure out how to get the timeline display, and it wasn't mentioned in this video but all you have to do is go to Window (in the top toolbar near View and Help) --> Workspace --> Motion. Then the timeline bar should appear at the bottom

This is fantastic because I always pronounced it as JIF and just today my boyfriend was telling me I was wrong and I was like meh I like the sound and NOW I KNOW I WAS RIGHT! Thank you!
Greatly appreciated... thank you! Excellent and easy to follow instructions. I keep coming back because I can't remember the simple steps and the accent is nice :)
Thank You - Had to learn this in a few hours. I've done animation for years (no conceptual problems, in other words), but every explanation of the photoshop tools that I saw before I came across your video were either needlessly complicated and poorly described or else just obtuse. Yours is perfectly clear and short - I really appreciate you taking the time to make it and wish I had come across it first!
Excellent instructional video. You walk through the steps beautifully. Thank you for giving me just the instruction I needed, without a bunch of clutter.
The guy who made this video & or who is narrating it, is saying the letter G improperly. Obviously. He doesn't know you pronounce the letter G as in Glad or the word "Gift" without the letter T at the end of the word. He doesn't know & or realize it's not pronounced like the letter J. I know, I know.... Potato, Potoddo, .... Tomato, Tomotto.
@@TommyFarrell69 Mind your own fuckin' business, Tommy. Unless you are in bed with Cam. Besides, if the real word is "GIF" then the word being made fun of is spelled "JIF". Unless the changed the spelling from "GIF" to "Giff" now.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was really helpful. I'd been wanting to make simple animations of my illustrations and didn't realise that I could use Photoshop. 😁
Thank you👌. The final File is also suitable to use in PowerPoint. In older version of Photoshop Save for web is not in Export category, so better to press Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S
Really helpful. Thank you. Also, thanks for complicating my understanding of how to pronounce that particular file type. ;-) From now on I'm just calling them "Jifes" -- or perhaps in the Spanish style: "Hif". Thanks again.

Thank you so much. I used to make gifs all the time during tumblr's popularity and forgot everything. I've also seen gifs that have a static frame background and the gif is inside that static frame, so essentially it's a graphic inside a graphic - if that makes sense? I wouldn't imagine it's any different, but that's what I'm trying to do for one of my clients.
THANKS!! Adobe seems to move all the controls around with every update and I cannot remember how to do the Jif ;-) stuff anyway. SOOOOOO Mark THANKS!!! Got me back on track
awesome tutorial! also interesting, one of my first graphic design professors went to college with the inventor of the gif format and according to him there is no right or wrong way to say it
Excellent video. I just watched three others that were made more recent and those sucked. Yours was right to the point and easy to understand. Now I just have to play with the transitions (tween) a bit.
Is there a way to stabilize the end product like in premiere pro (warp stabilizer)? Using this method I'll need to export the GIF, convert to video format, stabilize the video, then convert it back to GIF.
Hi, worked great, but may I point out one aspect you did not cover? How to invert the layer stack in case your GIF runs backwards like mine did. Deselect all layers in your layer stack, click the Eye icon, and then drag them to the top of the stack, with each subsequent layer being dragged under the one you just placed, and so on and so forth through the stack until you have them all reversed. You should then be able to click on the top layer, hit the 'Create Frame Animation' button to load your first frame, and then the fly out menu> Make Frames from Layer and so forth. They should play in the correct sequence, thus.
Thank you for this tutorial! Finally helped me create a GIF exactly how I wanted. I had to align my pictures automatically because I was moving a bit taking those pictures. But now I am not sure how to crop the excess of the image. I tried using the crop tool but that only worked for one image at a time. Any advice please?
Great video mate. I got to the save gif in save for web legacy but i keep getting unknown error. Im using 100 frames. Tried reducing size in save for web legacy window. No idea how to get round this. Any help would be appreciated. ty
Every time I've tried this way it runs the gif backwards for some reason. My layer panel has them in descending order. I select the first image in that order and do the steps. Inevitably it sorts the gif itself backwards for some reason.
I sometimes have an animation with 40-50 frames. The jpgs are numbered in order that I need them to play. When I do load file from stack they show up in order. When I select create frame animation and then make frames from layers, everything is loaded backwards and i have to drag each frame to put it in order. Is there a quick fix after you load the frames to reverse the order?
Hi! Is there a small function button, that crops a bit the image, based on the focus? Someone told me there is this trick, for photos that are not done with a tripod, so there is a small camera motion mainly a bit to the right, or a bit to the left, or a bit to high. SO the gif looks...not that good. But is somehow, photoshop could sense this difference, and crop a bit, it think it will solve the problem. But I do not know if there is such a thing...

Thankful for tutorial but sticks and stones may break my bones but I will never pronounce gif as a jif.
Think I need a new Jrahpics Card for this
