    All Freeman Dyson videos need more viewers. Ignorance damages everyone. People prefer entertainment and dogma over intelligent discourse.

    @ 38:33 my father being a soil scientist wouldn't it be cool to crowdsource those ancient wisdoms that are functional equivalent to our modern Solutions with respect to provincial infrastructure

    I had to kill 15 ads to get to this.
    Few things want me to censor the Epoch Times like their claiming they're being censored by "the media"...and I don't need overpriced health supplements.

    USA should take a *BIG* lesson from what Freeman says at 25:30 "... unfortunately Stalin made it clear that he didn't welcome foreign students so I came to America as a second choice." Russia's loss. How many intellectuals in similar situations today will simply go to America's competitors as a second choice because a new authoritarian has closed the doors to immigration?

    • @vilandes
      @vilandes 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a broad brush statement. The whole point is to be able to source immigrants that align with your country's needs which is a world away from the open borders/no control that is currently underway at the southern border.

    • @treyquattro
      @treyquattro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vilandes if you want immigration for intellectual gain, don't pursue authoritarian policies. Valuable immigrants can go anywhere. You would be wise to remember that.

    • @vilandes
      @vilandes 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see the cancel culture in academic and corporate environment as a highly coercive mind game on free thinking intellectuals. Surely this is the real authoritianism we fear, unless of course your views align with woke culture. Freeman was a climate sceptic ,forgive the perjorative term, who never agreed with the present obsession. Today he would be abused vilified and have his career and research sponsorship heavily curtailed.

    • @treyquattro
      @treyquattro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vilandes haha. Your alias is well chosen. Freeman Dyson was raised as a socialist. He would have thought your moronic utterances were contempltible. How did you manage to stumble your way in here?

    • @vilandes
      @vilandes 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooohhh resorting to ad hominem attacks...surely below your great mind? Climate change obsession has embedded itself on the left so regardless of his left leaning credentials he would be vilified by his fellow socialists.

    The Dysons are/were three remarkable people. I do wish this conversation had taken place without dead animals or parts thereof on the wall or on the couch. So unnecessary and uncaring.
