I had a dream about a DS port of B3313, complete with even MORE rooms that you could go into and how you had to navigate the maze-like castle to unlock Mario, Luigi and Wario. In certain rooms, text appeared on the bottom screen saying it looks like there's no way out. For these rooms, there was always a Shadow Mario or something to crash the game.
I’m surprised I haven’t had something like that lol. I played the DS version to death as a kid.
I kinda got the same thought, a DS version of B3313 would be even more enormous than the actual one, maybe it could include also the myths of the DS version as levels of something like that
additionally with the maps of the DS, it feels like it could be easier to navigate - but potential for deception, tricking you into thinking there’s a way out, but there isn’t; or hell even adding the shadow mario / eyeless marios as icons there that chase you, that’d be terrifying
What I love about B3313 personally is that it combines actual beta content, creepypasta & dream like worlds into one ROM Hack. It's like the magnum opus of Mario 64's otherworldly & liminal feelings.
It really is this be-all and end-all of SM64. Simultaneously playing into the creepypastas surrounding SM64 but also acting as a massive love letter to the game, its development, and its community with all the references it has to other projects and creators
Small correction: the “Mario’s Maze” area is still in the rom hack, however the way you get to it is different from what you showed. You first have to get to an area called the “Fake Lobby” which is just the vanilla sm64 lobby with darker textures. Then, you have to ground pound the sun carpet and you will be brought to Mario’s Maze.
12:50 This is how all Toads are in the original Super Mario 64. Now, that's not to say they couldn't be ghosts in the original game, because I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be like trapped within the walls or something, but yeah.
Watching Wolf constantly find new levels and skipping them only to find more levels is the embodiment of this Rom Hacks gameplay, and the best part is that the overabundance of levels is a PLOT POINT. You can tell the dev really wanted the player to feel confused with all the lobbies and dark worlds they put in, so they made it a part of lore which is a genius idea. Great work on the vid Wolf! Do fix your sleep schedule sometime because I dont think it will be useful again.
Fun fact. Victorious consequences is a name that I came up with, but it was meant for a different area (the area with the disfigured Luigi), but Bikdip and Chris saw it fitting to give the name to the reference to the "Unabandoned" version of the game, shaming them for eternity.
Speaking of shame, the second version of shame, also dubbed "Darker Downtown" is a Greenio reference, albeit a different kind of Greenio reference, based on "Dark Downtown", an area from the video called "Prologue". Without knowing much of the context (and honestly, at this point, it's not that important), apparently, Greenio was on the side of the Unabandoned team, hence why Chris made "Darker Downtown".
I saw a video of yours randomly, and now I'm super invested in the channel.

I find B3313 to basically be a love letter to everything the Iceberg for Mario 64 has. A lot of rooms, challenges, videos, all referenced.
26:43 Oh btw that room was added in 1.0 bcs of petty drama of the romhack, the devteam was split for multiple problems with the original creator and the rest of the coders and devs.
I dont know the full extend so take this with a grain of salt.
As far as i heard, all the "shame" mentions are a punch to the team that didnt like how chris(main creator) worked and splited.
7:27 quick correction: that door never led to Mario’s Maze AFAIK, also Mario’s Maze is still accessible from Fake Lobby or Dark Lobby by ground pounding the sun carpet. You are correct about that area having a Red Star that was removed (replaced by a yellow) in v1.0, though!

11:36 that bridge is in the original game, it's a warp. You stand still near the edge of the bridge and eventually it'll warp you to a different area of the level in the original game.
12:55 the "ghost" toad was also a part of the original game, it's because ""everyone is trapped inside the walls of the castle"", in reality it's to reduce processing costs on the n64's ram.
22:27 is a Mario Sunshine stage recreated in SM64
The Shame rooms and endings are just the main dev being salty to the Unabandoned devs.

B3313 is the gold standard for what I personally think the Personalized Mario 64 creepypasta should be.
When I was a kid and playing Mario 64 blind, I was convinced that the game was far, far bigger than it actually was, with so much more stuff than there actually was. As far as I was concerned, anything could happen, and that thought _deeply terrified me!_
Many people have their own idea for a Dream game. suffice it to say, B3313 is my _Nightmare game!_ no overused jumpscares, no cringy meme scares like Wario or whatever. Just an overwhelmingly massive world to get lost in, and an ever-present anxiety for the unknown.
yeah that's one of the key reasons why i decided to make the vid about b33 in the first place tbh, i love the subtlety of it, with only the exception of the one peach portrait trap room, the thing is just so big it seems impossible at first to get to the end of it and the whole dream simulator vibe to it all is just a great cherry on top of the whole thing

Yeah B3313 have an nostalgia atmosphere mixed with the strangeness of not remembering something that seems so familiar, this hack gives me a fucking strange feeling, even though it's my main content lol
Also this hack have an area called the unerving labirint, it have a lot of fucking scary images that maked me nearly shit myself
Also NEVER destroy the core that one part of the game ask for it, it will make you game ultra glitchy and if you have photosensitivity you may even faint because there are many colors flashing on the screen, Even though I didn't have photosensitivity I got a headache

me personally i think the most unsettling part of the game is the part in the monochrome castle where luigi is disfigured and in the castle walls, i interpretted the "GET ME OUT" as luigi and it makes me think of luigi kinda trapped in the walls, being tormented in different ways like suffocating in walls being crushed or drowning, and the luigi you play as would be a clone, and the luigi who gets tortured is the original
that last bit of the clone luigi wasnt my idea btw i dont remember who thought of it but i thought it was cool as hell lol

I want to invent time travel so I can burn B3313 to a cartridge, travel back to 1996, and replace exactly ONE copy of Mario 64 with it on launch day.

I love all the small changes like how the HUD changes from b-roll to shoshinkai to vanilla based on where you are (like using shoshinkai for the base lobby and vanilla for vanilla lobby) or how it tracks time of day that affects courses and hubs. I also love the plot points and how they all tie together to create this loose story. One of my favs being the story of wet dry world. Another thing I love are the red stars and how they further change things. If you're a fan of sm64 you absolutely need to play this
Yellow stars don't really open any doors. I believe there are only two things in the hack yellow star count triggers.

The thing is with B3313 its one of the best rom hacks out there story and all its not just the AI in pain its both you and the AI itsself inflicting in the pain and suffering through the story the AI btw knows not only where you are going but because how its programmed and how its watching you its because you are playing as the AI Mario is the AI you control is the entity itself you just do not know it and each death and each crash you expirence or death by the shadow figure adds that mario you are playing as to the entity causing more and more faceless mario's the faceless mario's are the Mario's you have killed thats killing an entity another being for the AI to control and A stop you from being in areas you are not supposed to be or B stopping you from finding out the full truth and C to get you to destroy the cores so the AI can be free but as you said anytime the game is rebooted the pain and suffering the AI endures happens all over again and the AI will ensure you feel the same pain and suffering as it has
on top of that as I forgot to mention Luigi is already dead your not supposed to play as Luigi really infact the reason you find a drowned Luigi or him being crushed let alone abused in some of these weird scenario's its because Luigi is dead he drowned in the castles basement when a player or you went into a forbidden area Luigi got trapped in that area no way out no nothing and optimally died mario you and the AI all that remains Luigi isnt supposed to be there its why at times the mirror room you can go behind after breaking the boxes you often can see mario there instead of luigi when playing as Luigi its telling you the player and mario that it should have been you and not the brother its all your fault everything you are doing is your fault I am not having fun please end it it hurts it hurts and it repeats itself
I just assumed that the B3313 AI was just messing with you in those parts. Those parts with the exposed core and the weird "it hurts" text don't ever seem to lead to anything- they're just there.
The AI isn't a tortured soul seeking release. it knows what you would expect from a story like this due to it's nature as a Personalization engine, and added those elements in merely to toy with you.
@@blackheartzerotheundergrou3225 thats the thing its all the above it knows what your doing it messes with you it even puts you in pain by also torturing the characters because you allowed the game to be played believe it or not the AI is programmed to act like a torture soul its why Luigi is drowned crushed disorientated mario just faceless because those are other marios that fell victim to the tragedy's and by the hands of the player you allow the suffering weather you are aware of it or not its why in the rainbow road area the last bit says will you play the game or will it play you and both is happening your playing and being played its a massive confusing story and we will never understand it to its full potential

What's the intended pronunciation of "B3313"? I've always said it as "B Thirty-three Thirteen"
B-33-13 would make sense as a pronunciation seeing as it is meant to stand for Beta 64 (B=Beta 3+3=6 1+3=4),
I personally just used it as all one word because it was easier for me to say lmao
