Lol so glad you showed up Debbie Downer! A soulless suburb is one that is just out in the middle of nowhere with no history or reason to be there. This might be a suburb but it's a unique one that definitely has a soul. Like if you had to select between living in a random suburb vs. living on that island, I think we all know where you would pick.
@@mutedmutiny9542the point is most people can’t even make a decision like that because we can’t even make our monthly financial obligations. Humans just can’t leave anything alone. So yes…a soulless suburb full of superficial rich people.
@@mutedmutiny9542 a "rich, exclusive 'soul'" lol! & you can BET they won't want anyone who doesn't LOOK like them on that island, even if they can afford it.
I wonder what happened to the older lady that lived in the house that was over 100 years old on boblo Island. She refused to sell her property or land it was grandparents home. She didn't have any running water or lights.
If enough people had gone there then it would still be an amusement park, they didn't just close it down out of spite or to be mean to people, it was a business decision. Hey if you want to buy the place up, pour millions into renovating it and then open it up even if it's unprofitable, by all means - go right ahead.
Hi! Im a millennial. Never got to experience Bob-lo island and ferry. Kinda sucks but it’s okay. My parents have many wonderful memories from there. To bad it’s a distant memory
Now this IS a heartwarming tale! Sure, 95 years of family memories and joy for future generations were all destroyed, because if there’s one thing we need, it’s another soulless suburb (especially one built in a space that can house tens of people). But wait: there’s still a few fading remnants of the old park that haven’t been razed to make way for a strip mall, so it’s ok!
Went to the island on a boy scout troop to get our boating certificate and camped on the island one night. The amusement park was still there back in 1974. The island was closed at that time for a few years.
Yes alot of great memories , to bad lost since the amusement park is no more, just have many vintage advertisements I,ve collected for along time( including the once great D and C Great Lakes Passenger Line) .We once the entire passengers on the Boat, can,t remember if it was the St Clair or Colombia we were on, sang that Vernors Song that had come out on Vernor Commercials in the 1970s,ironic since many of the folks on the Boat looked like the people on that commercial, everybody was well behaved, well dressed, well mannered not like todays sorry generation. What happen to Boblo Amusement Park is the same that happen to once great city of Detroit, reflects also the political nonsense, increase crime, etc ,in Ohio where we travel every Sat and Sun, no lost memories there in that state like how everything has gone down the toilet in Detroit and most of Michigan, beautiful architectural well constructed and well engineered classical icons in Detroit and around the city torn down for know reason, J L Hudson where I use to work and Cass Tech High School where I graduated in 1980
What an awesome island, why are there cars? Totally ruins it. Imagine if it were a lower peninsula Mackinac Island, nah Bill would rather drive his F150 around the small island. lmao how stupid
I'd consider building a vacation home on the island, but it's part of Canada. The further away my money and freedom stay from that government, the better (not that the US is much better lately, but why have two bullies on your back when one is enough?)
Talk about nostalgia.. Where did all the Blacks go? All the Democrat party crime? Bois Blanc Island (White Wood Island)? That will never do.. "That's not fair."
I have SO MANY great childhood memories of Boblo! What a shame it's all gone now.
Definitely it's sad we have no amusement parks in the area.
Can you imagine how many shootings would have been there. You people destroy everything.
What a "Democrat Party" shame you are..
Great, close destination for thousands of people to enjoy.....now just houses for a few rich people.......
Damn those people who work for a living.. Damn the Bourgeoisie..
So many childhood memories at Bob-Lo
Me too went there a bunch when I was younger.
GREAT TIME ON THE BOAT 🚢 😎 👌 & MY KIDS LOVE ❤️ THE BOAT RIDE!!
Turning it into a soulless suburb
Yeah, for the exclusive rich. Uggghhh.
Lol so glad you showed up Debbie Downer!

I use to go there ALL the time as a child ! 70’s baby
Thanks to the Negros for wrecking it.

She died a mysterious death
Very sad what happened to this place. It should still be an amusement park for everyone, not just some private island for rich people to enjoy.

@@tonytravelerroute66 Imagine a world where rich people actually work and pay taxes lol not this one my friend, you have delusions of grandeur
rich pigs spoil everything. They did the same to Muskoka - moved in a started bulldozing the bush to build their mansions.
It would be amazing to fix those old Boblo boats and have them travel down the Detroit River
They had one of the boba low boat at Nicolson dock and terminal when I worked there mored in the canal . It was weathered pretty bad.
The Midnight Cruise used to be lit!♥️
Very fond memories at Boblo.

The blockhouse (There were two) were built in the 1830's.

You should never admit to being on top of a boy scout, seriously!
@@baconstrips6260bro what?
Explains all those MI plates at Cedar Point.
Another place that most of can't afford to live. Yippie
You mean yuppie.
Liberal elites.
You can live anywhere else in Detroit you chose. Take your pick Marxist.
I would love to live there... I did hear that Boblo Island was only like 1/3 if the island was being used...
This makes me want to puke...greed took over again
Didnt realize it was that close to KONZ airport 😮
I wish they would at least restore the old dance hall. Imagine how many people that would draw.
They tried.. look ot up from what I heard to old and to much money
Everything changes but still sad if you remember the way it was.

The endangered animals etc won’t last with all those Karens moving there.
😂😂, u are right tho
But rich white people want to live there now so it's ok, right?

Not in my book! Keep them away and save the animals!
Or all those 13 percenters once they cash their reparations checks.😃

YES!!!
Gone forever. What a shame
Rotten shame. Just like Tiger Stadium. Silverdome, Palace and The Joe. Democrats turn everything good into 💩
Everything's being gone forever
Shoutout to royce and cole.
I wish I were a billionaire , I would've purchase the island and restored back to Bob Lo for all to enjoy just like we did when we were kids .

Makes me sad and sick...those where the days is all I can say,,,very sad
Rich people🤦♀️
I'm over there every week collecting the garbage.

Well Bois Blanc translates to White Wood sooo...
Look up what happened to Bob-lo. Educate yourself before you judge who is living there
It doesn’t really matter why it shut down it’s still being infiltrated by rich white people who mostly don’t care about the original attractions
Amherstburg ONTARIO....say it right bud.....we don't say Detroit United States....we say Detroit Michigan.....have some respect please
I love this idea, rich people need cooler places to live and this is totally that place!
