Hey Uncle Larry. It’s been awhile since I’ve viewed your brilliance. I got a new job and a new life and haven’t had the time to check in. And lo and behold, almost 100k subscribers!!! Well, you’re no secret anymore. But these new folks won’t ever get the opportunity to share the intimacy of those first Corona classes but you’re still the same old sweetheart of those days. Uncle Larry Uncle Larry!! The thumbnail idea kind of cracks me up! Hey man just wanted to say been watching your channel since the beginning I miss the old garage days there was a certain rawness to it I guess! I'm one of those guys that put the guitar away for many years and after somehow stumbling on your channel decided to play again and I can't thank you enough! I'll never reach my potential of what may have been that day is long gone but what I can tell you is what a great emotional release it is to just grab that and play in today's world.. My stress levels half and thank you for that! Kind of funny you mentioned the other day the Parsons Street guitar shop.. I happened to be in there around Christmas and they gave me a tour! I have a Heritage prospect. They don't make anymore.. couldn't find a luthier around here worth a shit and they took a look at it for me for free.. ended up getting a tour what an amazing place if you get the opportunity!!
I make my living playing cover gigs, but my whole bag is bringing studio sensibility and sound quality to local live performance; pedals, great preamps and a stellar mic; the more dynamic a performance can feel and sound, the better.
Hey Tom, Sandy your old Sagitarius bud down here in Tejas. Righteous playing. Thanks Brother, for everything. You know man, I'm glad I was here inn day 1. Take care brother. PS That expandora fuzz is pretty friggin cool.
Anyone who thinks that using pedals makes you weak, did not start playing in small tiny clubs back in 1972, owned a beautiful Fender Super Reverb, that you could only turn up to just under "2" and your Cherry Sunburst Les Paul sounded like "Lead Banjo".. Pedals are key to playing in small clubs. You can almost sound like what you want you to sound like!
There are pedals and there are modulation pedals. I find no use for modulation pedals. But a good overdrive and a delay I can live with. a flanger chorus phase shifter and the other weird ones bore me
I have a 1997 ES-135 with P-100s, a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom, a 1998 ES-335, and a 1955 ES-125. Those are my Gibson electrics. I also have a few Epiphones and a MIM Fender Stratocaster. I actually have a Squier Bullet strat with a hardtail and a thin body, which sounds great plugged into my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
The opening playing was worth the price of admission. Love love loved the Mott the hoople. From a Fellow Cleveland player.❤ Had to come back and edit this after watching the video about your 79 Les Paul. I had the same guitar in wine red. Had it routed out for a Dimarzio distortion. It was my first Les Paul, that I wanted for a long time. Never warmed up to it and bought a Black Custom a year or two later. Ken is the best has done a lot of fret work for me.
The artifact on the top end is real! I have to use the modeling stuff because I'm a hack that can't play with loud volumes, but I hear it and try to eliminate it as much as possible. Great vid.
I have a recapped front panel Univox U45B from 1969. About 8 watts.Been doing session work in MD since late 70s..My Tele sounds like a LP thru this thing. I dimed it for the first time 2 days ago for a great Marshall sound. Then I turned the vol down on the guitar and used a distortion pedal for leads. Thanks Larry for turning us on to the Nobels and a ton of other cool stuff. RT

Hi Tom, caught your interview with Robert today about your 1st LP. and have been checking out TH-cam page. Loved the interview and nice to see someone who I can relate to. I’ve been guitarded since the age of 3 and turned pro at 12. I’m 50 now and had a pretty good career so far. I now an MD on a cruise ship. Thanks for the stories and licks and just being a cool dude.
You totally got me on this one Uncle Larry! I forgot that you where going to have some fun with click bait here. Man I was looking at that thumbnail and thought..."oh shit, What's going on with Tom?" I got had! Well played. Good episode though. Thanks for all of your entertaining and informative videos.
Aw yeah..."Heart of the Sunrise" baby! Those were a fave of Chuck Berry back in the day too... 😄 Says a lot about those guitars...175's, the Byrdland, and of course gotta be going into a wound up Fender amp... Thank you for reminding us Uncle Larry!
I love that Uncle Larry's such a Skynyrd fan. Only guy I ever hear talk about Steve Gaines and such-like. And then some of them good Yes deep tracks "Heart of the Sunrise." Play-on, Master Guit-ovac
Hey Tom! Not to be cheesy but you inspire me both in music and life!! My approach to both have changed since I discovered your channel!! I was watching vids on Brent Mason and yours came across my feed!! Much love and keep being a great dad, got 4 babies myself!!
The Starship Trooper returns! When I saw that ES-350 I knew there was some Steve Howe riffs on the way. And a mention for good old snuffleupagus. Thanks Tom.
Great vid Tom, love to hear you just rip it out of the gate for awhile! With your inventiveness it's always a treat! Nice version of "The Clap", found it interesting that you could never hang with the ES-175's. ES-335's are the guitars I could never get comfortable with. So many of my favorite players use them though and they sound SO sweet! Man, that guitar cleans up amazingly too-yeah I heard it. Wow...Hmmm, I think I get what you were getting at about modeler tones, sort of like there is a teflon coating on the high end? Yeah, it makes sense. Keep up the great work Uncle Larry!
Apparently, I am the same age as you Tom, I was born in late 1968, August 23 to be precise. Although my favorites growing up were Zeppelin, Floyd, Eagles, Skynyrd, ZZ top etc, I liked early " Metal" like Sabbath, Priest and Maiden when I was a teenager but when I was a teenager there was talk about "thrash" which I was sort of into Metallica and Anthrax but most of the heavy stuff sounded like noise to me. I am from New Orleans, and I went to Grace King High School with Phil Anselmo and remember seeing and opening up shows for Razor White which was the band he quit to move to Texas and join Pantera. That said I respect your skills and every time I watch a Homeskoolin' video it makes me go practice. What I am saying is I prefer your style to metal hands down.
Sounded like Jimmy Page in his prime there until the Steve Howe. LOVE this style of playing. Watching Jimmy on Song Remains the Same just going ballistic is one of the best things to this day I have seen on guitar. I have to stop by and visit uncle Larry from time to time just so I can say to my self, "self....DAMN he is amazing" as well as he is just a real down to earth dude. Thanks for the glimpse into the life of a Nashville session man, if not the best Nashville session man.
You continue to inspire us all my friend. Loved the Mott the Hoople and Saturday Night Special clips - I never have figured out how the guys from Lynyrd Skynyrd did that little slide stuff in the intro to Saturday Night Special so thanks for showing that! PS, never watched the click bait video 😂😂
Wow! Tom I’m SO happy to hear your comments about recording guitar without using guitar cabs and mics. Many guitarists I respect use the Ox Box and love it. I bought one recently and returned it to the store. You’re right about the digital sound that is generated in the high end. I also don’t like the sound of my guitar coming straight through the studio speakers without going thru a guitar cab and mic first.
I never thought you would say that either. Come to find out, I'm glad you did! Bro you are so good, I love trying to pick out what kind of stuff I hear when you play cuz you have such a wealth of sounds.
Been here since the beginning. Cannot wait to see you cross 100k. I've copped more licks from this channel than I can count and I'm eternally grateful for them and all of the "inside baseball" you've been kind enough to share.
Hi Tom. Great video! Was listening to Keith Urban “Somebody Like You”, for a gig, and heard the X02204 chord…. And I was like “hmmm… Bukovac?” Checked the session personal - yup…. Lol. Also, maybe Dan Huff. Lol. Modelers, or even wireless units, have rampant latency issues…along with the high-end mess. Sometimes a necessary evil, but evil nevertheless… Any time I’ve voluntarily used wireless units - I switch back to cords by set 2 😂. Modelers have that same “distant” and messy effect. It gives me anxiety - and takes me out of the instrument, at least mentally. Having a couple cranked vintage Princeton Reverbs via CORD, and a good pedalboard😊, with the guitar volume backed off…. Just can’t duplicate…
One problem: The ES-175 has a couple of issues. The main issue being the intonation. The pickups are too far back towards the bridge and the bridge is butted right up to the rear pickup.
Mental health thumbnail is THE move people. THIS is how you tube.

"The Clap" And more importantly how you nailed that incl. the sound. I know the "right" guitar helps but still, you're just the man Larry.
Yes, I love HOWE good he sounded on it!! (sorry...)
That jazzer impression might be the funniest thing I’ve seen on this channel.

Hey Tom! Not to be cheesy but you inspire me both in music and life!! My approach to both have changed since I discovered your channel!! I was watching vids on Brent Mason and yours came across my feed!! Much love and keep being a great dad, got 4 babies myself!!
That guitar is beautiful and you somehow make it sound even better than it looks!
the description is AWESOME!
That's a sweet guitar and it's obviously inspiring you! Love the Steve Howell Fragile Yes riffs and Trevor Riffage!
The Clap was great, thanks Tom!
Insanely great playing
Tom, how does it feel to be able to play ANYTHING? Must be an amazing feeling…. Such unbelievable playing…!!
I also don’t like the sound of my guitar coming straight through the studio speakers without going thru a guitar cab and mic first.
none of that shit is how Hank did it...
@@501chorusecho exactly! Love your videos! Planning a trip to Nashville this year. I’m in Toronto. I’m a guitarist and songwriter for tv sync mostly.
I see you've been studying my guitar instruction videos. LMAO. Love your playing, Uncle Larry.
I never thought you would say that either Uncle Larry...shocked!!!!
I never thought you would say that either. Come to find out, I'm glad you did! Bro you are so good, I love trying to pick out what kind of stuff I hear when you play cuz you have such a wealth of sounds.
Love the Skynyrd riffs. I've played both of those over the years.
Been here since the beginning. Cannot wait to see you cross 100k. I've copped more licks from this channel than I can count and I'm eternally grateful for them and all of the "inside baseball" you've been kind enough to share.
Uncle Larry never disappoints
That entire intro piece shook me to my core. I'm going to go practice now.
Man, I just rewatched the beginning. if that guitar sounds like that thru the internet, my goodness I cant imagine live.
“Made out of 100% pure 🪵🐈.” 🤘🏼
Errrbody loves some T&A 😂 Thank you for ALL the AMAZING videos! 🤘
One problem: The ES-175 has a couple of issues. The main issue being the intonation. The pickups are too far back towards the bridge and the bridge is butted right up to the rear pickup.
Man, I could watch you play Steve Howe stuff all day long. Awesome stuff as always!
Thumbs up on the thumbnail and video description alone!! 👌
