  • Former MEP Ben Habib reveals he spoke to Nigel Farage warning him against making Coutts' de-banking scandal public.
It comes after the resignation of boss Dame Alison Rose in the early hours of this morning after she admitted discussing Mr Farage’s relationship with private bank Coutts, owned by NatWest Group, with a BBC journalist.
Mr Habib says: "I said: 'if you put your head above the parapet, other banks will be reluctant to take you on', he said: 'Ben, I'm going after them.'"

Another step in the right direction would be for every bank customer to put in for subject access requests on whatever dossiers their banks hold on them. I mean, how can you trust what information your bank sees fit to collect on you, particularly as in Nigel's case it turns out that much of that information was either false or mere opinion?
I understand that it can take hundreds or even thousands of pounds for a bank to respond to a single subject access request, so it wouldn't take very many for banks to have a change of heart about how much and what sort of data they collect on their individual customers.

Where/who are they working for? To "assume' such power and not be expected to be called out on it? The government stepped in, was it to minimise the damage ? to exclude itself from all these tyrannical measures which the bank was undertaking - snooping on people and keeping a record of their political views? Damn, I'm a NW shareholder, lost a few pennies with the collapsed share price, but I'm still delighted that Nigel has scored a huge victory for all of us UK citizens who live in fear every day of being "exited" like unwanted pet dogs.
I was in my local NW bank yesterday, it was festooned inside with gay "pride" bunting. I complained to the "greeter" and told her that they should now take this crap down, we don't want politics in banking. I was of course polite, she said it was head office orders.

Is it Banks’ role to vet you? Very important point. In my view, it is their role to vet your and my money (clean v. not clean). But me and my ideas have nothing to do with whether my money is clean. Then I agree a change of regulation is necessary. Practice must also change..
