I'm surprised, that they offered in 1968 a reel to reel tape in mono. I thought, that the cheap tape recorder was compact cassette and tape something, for HiFi enthusiasts.
In East Germany it was different, reel tape was way cheaper than cassette and it was a minority who could afford stereo equipment. So mono tape would be accepted, especially when radio would be too noisy in stereo.
