Hi Rex, I have a little known aircraft for you: The Goodyear GA-22A "Drake" From what I know, it is the only GA-22A variant out of the 19 variants built. It is currently on display at the MAPs Air Museum in Canton, Ohio.
@@historybuff1848 so many from my little big book of planes... Beaufighter & Blenem were always slammed and underrated but made it through the peak of zee german luft capabilities. All rave about the P51 & Spitfires but by 43 the germans were knackered. 40,41,42 they were at their peak..
I know that it's been done to death, but will you ever be doing the Spitfire? I've watched dozens of videos on it, but none are as in-depth as you are... plus, nobody really elaborates on the people who designed the later variants of it, and the different wing types.
I had never heard of this manufacturer before, until I saw them in a gotcha game. Gordou-Leseurre. They were apparently heavily invested in the parasol wing. The exception is their flying boats which are low wing monoplanes. The G.L. 2 and the G.L 821 look like base models that everything else iterated off.
God these are the best. I know I've watched most of them individually and enjoyed them thoroughly but having several hours of somebody lecturing me gives me only the kind of sleep I used to get in school.
I really love those compilations! And yet, it's already two years since I'm waiting for the 4th part of 'Not so brief history of military aviation' aka WW1 series... 😢
You should make a new series called "stories for another day" where you just talk about all the planes you mention as being stories for another day- now I have all this background context for all these planes, the continuations are very satisfying to watch- like the p-36 to the p-40 video!
Combining all these videos into a single 4+ hour presentation is absolutely superb..... I suffer from insomnia that can last more than 4 or 5 days without any measurable sleep. Long videos that don't require figuring out TH-cams useless playlist systems literally means the difference between insane homicidal rampages and getting through another 2am-5am period while maintaining a sound mind.... I am very much in your debt....
@@Shinzon23 I have repeatedly sought medical treatment that unfortunately failed to relieve my insomnia. I refuse to take any medication that could lead to addiction so instead try and bore myself to death with TH-cam videos...
Leaving this here since it's the most likely one of these for you to see: I really enjoy these as a great way to catch up on the older episodes since I wasn't following you from the beginning, and it's far better than dealing with YT and playlists across multiple devices.
The flu can be a nasty thing, I’m a type 1 diabetic, and it put me in the hospital last year. I hope you get well soon. That being said, thank you for giving me content to listen to all Friday long at work, great way to close out the week.
The B-18 always looked a bit embarrassed just existing, like its crew would unnecessarily ashamed to be seen flying it, as if it weren't named Bolo but something like the "B-18 Bearded Clam" or the "B-18 Stripper Thong."
Man this video was a real big help in getting to sleep when struggling with pain and bad symptoms of my horrendous Crohn’s disease . Although once i fall asleep . i wake up to take off from where i ‘roughly’ left meaning iv probably listened to the same part twice or three times over 😂. This is just great stuff mate . Your voice and content is the best ❤ please keep it up !
As an amateur historian, I love long-form videos especially ones about aviation. I am recording your videos just in case they are ever removed from TH-cam so that I can watch them again.
After almost a month of no posts, I was starting to get worried. Glad to see you back and with such a lengthy video; perfect video go watch while doing a 3 step paint correction on my day off😎
Compared to its late 1930s competitors, the Farman 222 looks so old-fashioned, with its braced wings and engines suspended far below the wings. Like something out of Tintin comic book. The contemporary B-17, He 111, Mitsubishi G3M / G4M, etc., seem vastly more aerodynamic and modern. Seems crazy for France to be ordering Farman 222 updates after seeing those aircraft.
Love your vids but can never find time for a 2hr vid never mind a 4 hr one please do not give up on the shorter 20-30min ones. Perfect to watch whilst cooking dinner for the kids
I am surprised that this channel has not covered the Omasaki Q7N "Golden Sunflower" (known in the west as the "JimBob"). Powered by 14 Predator 420 engines and armed with 8 radiator-mounted 69mm machine guns, it was a competitive fighter and blimp destroyer. The total cost of the plane was &400k Japanese Zamperini (about $7 USD) and some sources claim it could have been manufactured in the billions. If the cocaine use of the plant manger had not doomed the plane to fail the Japanese Coast Guards initial inspection (the Rising Suns were all mounted upside down), the JimBob might have changed the outcome of the war. - Insomnia is a thing.
The Avro Avian, now it was the prototype at the 1926 Lympe contest, it had a predecessor; the Avro 558. Avro's Light Plane Type 558 powered by the Douglas 500 cc motorcycle twin cylinder. Much like the English Electric Wren or the DH53. Very light aircraft.
1:38:30 a proximity fuse in a 37 mm shell - yeah right in a time of valves, paper capacitors carbon rods resistors, and wafer diodes, all mounted on SRB bakelight tab boards - in your dreams. even today with modern micro electronic getting that in a 37 mm case and a adequate explosive payload would be a stretch.
Is it just me or is the text in the beginning a bit too large for the screen? I checked other videos and they don't seem to have the same problem... Anyways thanks for the great content!
22:02 correction! the nazi paratroopers taking the bridge at rotterdam did not employ assault boats but used captured dutch uniforms to walk across and murder the bridge guards when they got in range. this war crime will not be covered up by statements made in this video. other than that, great video rex
thank you thank you I now have four free from lying politicians a news reporter is saying how important it is plus Full great information that I did not know
I LOVE your stuff Rex. But these confuse me. Are they compilations which constituent parts I may already have watched individually (which really isn't clear), or are they new? And if the latter; 4 hours of content is way too much to watch in one go. It's off-putting; remembering and finding where you got to last time will be a pain.
Thank God between yourself and @LordHardthrasher some peace in a week of election noise and oxygen thief's promising other peoples money and free stuff from the magic money forest.. 4hrs fanbloodytastic.
What do you think? I absolutely love women and airplanes! Women took half of everything I owned, so not really good for me! My second love, airplanes, I crashed on my first airplane flight! Found myself still alive, better than my pilot, hanging from my seat belt upside down, being cut free from wreckage.
