The only thing the label has then are costs, not revenue. It's first after a couple of months that the artists start getting paid. That's after the label has revenue to cover all costs associated with the album. First they cover their own asses, before they pay the artist (obviously). It's the same with All Eyez on Me. Pac was just starting to see the fruits of that labor around the time he was murdered.
