(Recording Date: October 1977 -- March 1978 Pathe Marconi sessions).
Track Origin, Inspiration, & History: I've listened to the original outtake version for nearly as long as the "Some Girls" LP and this is another interesting vocal rewrite and rerecording. A little less overall country "twang" present in the new vocal as well. There is an added pedal steel solo.

Recording Date: October 1977 -- March 1978 Pathe Marconi sessions.
Comment: I like it. The new vocal references are interesting too. Sound quality of course is a big improvement.
despite how popular how they are and all their accolades, a large part of the world doesn't understand just how deep and astounding their recorded legacy is. somehow even the rolling stones' catalog is largely underappreciated which is a startling statement.
I absolutely agree Michael well said
Michael Raffaele Michael Raffeale Well said. When all is said and done, and the dust settles, there will be but one rock and roll band that best represents the 20th century, and it’s The Rolling Stones.
Or how deep they were Lyrically. I used to think Mick wrote all of Wild Horses, until I heard Keith, while speaking on songwriting, explain that HE wrote the initial Hook - "Wild Horses couldn't drag me away". Then it was that time Marianne ran off w/ the Italian guy.
It’s because they’re more a pop band- they’re a rock and roll band, with all the accoutrement...blues, country, R&B, soul, folk, you name it. Their back catalog almost attests to it better than the hits
Well said everyone, just went through the replies and what more can i add , tatoo you ffs was knocked together from cast off/ unfinished stuff from 72 onwards, basically to have an album to put out alongside the giant us 81, europe 82 tour that was about to happen, what a band !
One of the very few bands whose outakes are better than most bands releases. Without a doubt the greatest bad ever. By a country mile.
long live Jagger and Richards the greatest rock and roll song writers in rock history
Wish the 70's were back, besides the few troubles and almost diein a couple times wouldn't change it for the world, I mean look at us now
Dead Flowers, Country Honk, Far Away Eyes, Little Indian Girl, Sweet Virginia, Let It Bleed, Waiting On a Friend, You Got the Silver… ok that’s the best I can come up with on short notice but the Stones ALWAYS serve up a country song on every album now we have another gem; No Spare Parts. Great Song! Great lyrics! Like many of the Stones outtakes that didn’t make the cut, this one also makes you think, “this one didn’t get released!!?” Testament to the quantity and quality of their catalog.
Can't forget Torn & Frayed!

the stones saved my life literally also the greatest stuff you will never hear on the radio station
I think they saved mine too, because when I'm depressed, it works better than booze or drugs.
The Stones are always saving me.
this is beyond beautiful
We love The Stones!!
Damn....long time Stones fan here. Never heard this until now! Right on! I fn 💘 love this song so much! Thanx for sharing this gem! Different lyrics but they're both so good! ❣️the Stones4eva❄️❣️🌎❣️❄️
This is the version zone known for decades. Was disappointed that Jagger re-recorded present day vocals and changed the lyrics

Lyrics
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Daddy drunk, daddy drunk himself to death
When he was thirty-five years old
Left five daughters An' book 'em on the Cayman row
Put 'em down an' left an' he left all pain to me
An' a pullin' outta Dallas
An' the dirt back in Tennessee
So I called big sister on the telephone
I said how y'all down there in 'ere call t'home
Girl you won't starve for fortune and fame
To earn big money in Dallas and make her name
Lonely hearts
They're just made to break
There ain't no spare parts
Ain't no oil to change
Honey, I ain't accustomed to lose
If I want somethin' bad
I always find a way to get through
I tell ya somethin'
I ain't accustomed t'lose
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get through
Lonely hearts They're just made to break
There ain't no spare parts
Ain't no oil to change
I could be there Thanksgiving afternoon
With a turkey in m'hand
And ah oughta buy a bottle o' boo'
I took a short cut about a quarter down
The turnpike road
And I'll fill 'er up with gas
Ah'm a fill 'er 'bout San Antone
An' I'll make it t'Dallas 'bout a quarter pa' half past three
Just another 30 miles
On the road back to 443
You know, lonely hearts
They're just made to break
There ain't no spare parts
There ain't no oil to change
I tell ya
I ain't accustomed to lose
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it, baby
Including you
I tell ya something
I ain't ever gonna lose
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it, baby
Including you
I could be there Thanksgiving afternoon
If I start off now put my foot down the floor, damn too
I spoke to big sister on the telephone
She said come on big brother
Why don't you come on back home
I said, lonely hearts
They're just made to break
There ain't no spare parts
Ain't' no oil to change
I tell ya, honey
I ain't accustomed to lose
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it, mmm
Talkin ' bout you
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it
Don't I?
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it
Don't I?
If I want somethin' strong enough
I always find a way to get it
Baby! Shoo-gahh!
Ahhhh, yah, yah, yah
Tell ya somethin', babe
I ain't accustomed to lose
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it
If I want somethin' bad enough
I always find a way to get it
Lonely hearts
They're just made to break
There ain't no spare parts
There ain't no oil to change
Lonely hearts
They're just made to break
Ain't no spare parts
There ain't no oil to change
Now, I'm, I'm a-comin' back
Comin' back a'home Thursday afternoon
If I don't tumble down hard
Really like a way to get through
Close...no cigar
The way Jagger put you on deep south feelings, this guy had no limits with his lyrics.
This is just blues rock Country at its best. I'd love all the outtakes mick mick T Keith and Charlie did 1970 t 1973.On another planet at this time
Os dois juntos na mesma canção são formidáveis, são as melhores, concordo!
Love this band ...still out there playing. London 2018 was fantastic
I love it - if I wanna hear country - there's no better country band than the Stones baby. Thanks for posting
Great Song. Ain't to many Stones songs that I don't like
bootleg is gold thank you rolling stones
The Rolling Stones are the greatest country band of all time.
THE BEST BAND OF THE WORLD!
There are SO MANY versions of this floating around. And, interestingly enough, they're all better than the 3 1/2 minute version they finally released with the updated Some Girls!
Its good to hear something different from the rolling stones:)!from the mid 70's love it!!!for so many years I heard the same songs, same hits, over the years I gradually started getting tired of hearing the same songs, but these songs opened my eyes an ears all over again, keep on rockin:)!!!!!!
This Raw version is the best. The
It was just Jagger & the boys messing around in the studio. Brainstorming at Nellcotè back in the early 70's; or in their jam sessions in I think Muscle Shoals in '77 for some girls recording..... Not sure which. Sounds like Brian's slide guit. To me. All I know, is that this raw version is best. Listen to the commercialized final release on their Some girls re-Release bonus trac. It was WAY adjusted for the public ........ Dig deep into TH-cam. There is SO MUCH studio deep track recordings of work in progress as the stones developed songs. SOMEONE was very good at documenting everything they did. It's all GOLDEN...... These are the BEST videos / Audios that exist. You hear them develop the ' Final' Studio releases. Awesome.
@@c.j.bueche9332 they only recorded in Muscle Shoals in 1969. SOME GIRLS was all tracked at Pathé Marconi in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, in late 1977 and early 1978 (they recorded over 40 songs).
Agreed
This song has supplanted 'Alice's Restaurant' as my favorite Thanksgiving song.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving ALL. 💜
Best version I think.
One of my favorite holiday tunes...
Merry Christmas FOLKS!
Dude. Thank you for this. Mick is workin it on this. Fucking sweet
the stones I. 😍I'm straight butl I think I'm in love with Mick, keef and the boys
love is love my friend. whenever i hear this track i think of that one beautiful woman I nearly won over…
nonetheless, I’m in love with the stones :)
Elijah Skyeagle. I'm gay and l've loved them for decades. They've always been a bit too old for me though!! Hahaha... They play sexy & moving music for everyone who wants it! I'm going to see them on June 2nd !!! UK. YEAH!
...so much better this version.
I love again and again
So freakin great! American Country blues by 5 British guys who constantly n consistently 'Nailed It'!'

Nice vid 👍...haven't seen all these images b4.
The best, Remember this one!!
Mick Taylor??? In Some Girls Woodie was the new one, since Black n Blue!
Rock'n'roll 🖤❤️
I love it, thanks for posting. I like the rawness of it, but I think I prefer the lyrics on the Some Girls Deluxe. I kind of wish I could mix the two.
Great great song lyrics are comical Pittsburgh Jimmy

Baby Baby Baby Baby .
Wo kommen die bloß alle her? So viele Outtakes nie gehört und alle hörbar, bis hin zu Juwelen. Mann, was ist das?
Lou Reed vibes on those spoken passages
What a life
Love this
I like the Film Clips of them strolling the Streets of Hollywood - stills taken were on Exile Album. Amazing how dirty the city streets were - really run down. Urban decay at its height.
thoose was the days......
Great video!!! Thanks!!
I have to admit I prefer the other version it has more slide guitar in the forefront with a warmer feel to it,I still love anything pre tattoo you 👍
The "slide"........

Anthony R. its called heroin
This way better than the officiel released version. Why they didnt keep this ?
I think this may have eventually ended up as worried about you
@@richardfweeler2939 worried about you was from black and blue sessions 75
Is it the stigma or what? I could never understand why no country band has ever put out an album Country Songs of The Rolling Stones. I mean the way of The London Philharmonic Does The Beatles or The Mormon Tabernacle Choir Does 18 Beatle Songs. I mean just take songs from Beggars, Bleed, + Exile you'd have side 1 of an LP done. I'm no big Country fan, unless it's done by The Stones, or George Jones, but good music is good music and The Stones "Country" songs are incredible. Though Country music today is sort of the way Pop Music was in the early '60s. Dull, Lifeless, Shallow, Politically Correct written by Nashville fast-food, song writers. They're like greeting card writers. The Stones, even when they weren't writing from deep tragedy, their writing was reflecting their amazing adventures + experiences. I grew up in what you youngster call "Toxic Male Environment" + I'd be lying if I said it wasn't great - cuz it was but the two main songwriters in the band both dated very smart girls who helped shape + direct their writing efforts.
The pictures are much older.I see a young Mick Taylor and no Ron Wood!
The footage looks to be from exile on Main Street.
@@lbk30 Yes, there was a special times!! Stones forever!
Best copy around Jagger should stop fucking with the tapes
seriously man he always redubs the lead voice and he just sounds old, just turn up the damn mix and release the fucking thing
Anthony, if you read the lyrics as written and sung, doesn't it sound like he is trying to get it on with his sister?
I've been listening to Some Girls for 45 years, and I never heard this song. I guess they liked Far Away Eyes better and that became the country song for that album.
Não sei se há influência dos cigarros. O fato é que a voz de Keith é incrível tanto quanto a de Mick.
He says area code 201. Is he really referring to Northeastern New Jersey in this song?
Yes he is, the album some girls was all about NYC
No, he actually fucked up. San Antonio area code is 210
This needed to be on the LP. I would take it over 'Lies'.
First time hearing this. It's a bad motherfucker .
in this version daddy drunk himself to death not half to death
Yes, which for some reason sounds better lol
@@jaredcraver3898 yep exactly
Yes and 4 years earlier 😅
Could you tell me where is this video from please?? xx
It's the trailer/promotion stuff for exile on main st, 72 followed by the usa tour of the same year, untouchable particularly then but the 69 tour was also equally important, basically starting the big arena tour model.
Difícil acreditar que Charlie se foi.
Muito Difícil!!!!!

Cosa dire?.....Grande
I'm not one of these so called fans I'm light years beyond that
SOUNDS LIKE AN EARLY DEMO FOR "THINK I'M GOING MAD" !!!
Good catch; you're right.
THANK YOU, SULLEN !!
I say hi mick

Stone canyon
Like this version a lot. But, area code 201 is northern NJ.
Lyric error by Mick.
The better rhyme and correct (but said wrong) lyric is 210.
Called big sister on the telephone
Ssid how ya all doing down there in area code two one oh....sounds better right?
Area code 210 San Antonio
Makes me want to drink a Pepsi and smoke a Kool
