It is shocking in how it basks in its vapidness. Canadian media sucks, too, but we just don't bother much as a result. There is no Canadian obsession with people in our media because (and maybe because we live next to the USA), they don't matter.

The funny thing is, if not liking British talk shows makes me an intellectual snob, at least it saves me from being an ACTUAL snob, you know, the kind that hate poor people. British media is probably the most classist media on the planet. They constantly make the "Gammon" (working class native Britons) out to be subhuman ingrates, while literally worshipping the likes of Megan Markle and other spoiled rotten celebrities.
It's worse than that. Even if a PM was certain that a certain problem could be solved making 70% better off, 15% the same and 15% worse off and that this could somehow produce this result before the next election, the media would still just focus on the 15% who lost out.
They are against addressing the problems because the problems are ones caused by them. They would rather Britain came to an end then they lose their power.
I'm sick to death with the news leading on Schofield. Why is he regarded as so important? I want to hear about serious things on TV news, like Ukraine, the immigration crisis, inflation, etc.
Its not about ‘persecution’ of Philip Schofield. What he has done is an abuse of power at the expense of a vulnerable young boy at best, aiding & abetting after the fact his brothers pedophilia & thus Schofield deserves to be dealt with accordingly & is reaping what he has sown. However, the blanket coverage by the MSM is transparently distraction from really important stories breaking about the governments chilling surveillance & oppression & control tactics aligned with an authoritarian dictatorship during & after the pandemic, for example, amongst many other important stories that are simultaneously being buried by the MSM as they flood the populace with sordid Schofield

Spot on! I was despairing about the same trivia on the media. I would be interested in Douglas giving ideas of things that could be done to improve things in this country. What would he think can be done about all the important issues?!
Yeah, Douglas, there nothing strange in a 50-something man following a child on Twitter, then offering him a job when the boy becomes " legal ". Nothing strange in that at all.
Possible child abuse and a corporate cover up allegation is hardly displacement activity, you have completely failed to understand why the public are so concerned.
A big part of the problem with Schofield, is that certain media personalities have highjacked and flooded mainstream and social media with subterfuge to further their own careers. The fact that very large numbers of the population are going along with everything they are being told, is the real concern. Decades of disorienting flim flam politics and bad outcomes, seems to have created a need for some kind of undeniable reality that people can sink their teeth into.
You're right, we should be concentrating on bigger issues. However I think a lot of people were unhappy when Schofield received so much acclaim when he declared he was gay, despite him being married and cheating on his wife.
A plan, clearly stated, is a target to attack. We have trained our politicians to say and do as little as possible - Witness the latest fuss over WhatsApp messages - an excellent training lesson in why to commit nothing to record anywhere.
The biggest unspoken issue at present is the huge number of youngish people dying from heart issues and blood clots. Nobody is willing to even look at the large number of excess deaths being seen. Of course some people are linking a couple of years of them cooperating with official health mandates with that. Could it be why absolutely nobody is prepared to open that debate? Even Douglas evades that debate.
Isn't it marvellous that soon, a parliamentary committee will begin an investigation into the vitally important issues arising from the Schofield saga? What chance, I wonder, of there being a similarly high powered investigation into excess deaths running at up 20% above average for the last few months?
GB News and Talk TV would say they are giving the people what they want. I suggest that they are giving the people what they can't resist. Some of us long for the old days when news was news and journalists investigated and didn't share their opinions and commentators who had opinions were not competing for the limelight.
Well done Douglas for exposing this sad cancel culture that is going on in the western world. As you say people would rather get someone sacked for the most trivial thing than talk about the real issues
Thank you, Douglas, I was beginning to think I was the only person thinking exactly as you say. It's the stabbing in the back from fellow celebs that is so ghastly to watch as well. May he that has never lied throw the first stone.
The Meghan and Harry story is another example of the trivial and as Douglas said there are huge issues that need addressing, not frivolous stories about celebrities. Whether that is Phillip Schofield or Meghan Markle who have both dominated the front pages for weeks at a time. These stories are choreographed by parts of the media, I am sure intentionally in many cases, to distract from real issues in government.
As the legendary South Park ripped into them displayed the hypocrisy of their want for publicity whilst crying for privacy. I picture them as a monster feeding off the publicity growing more bigger and hideous if the media and people stopped caring and paying them attention it would cut of their food supply and they would shrivel up and disappear
Meghan and Harry are a far more serious case. You are after all talking of a potential Head Of State in charge of reigning over not just the UK, but at least 14 other Realms. An option that totally despises that potential role, and insults that position by reducing it to an Institution that is no different from a company CEO. I can assure you that NZ would be in civil war with him in charge within a week.
@@guff9567 Well, Douglas has had at least two books which have been Sunday Times No 1 best sellers, so he is pretty well known among people who are capable of reading, not to mention he regularly appears as a commentators on widely watched channels; although I'll concede that he probably isn't HUGE among the kind of peopel who watch television at breakfast time.
The issue also dominates discussion in parliament. Isn't it marvellous that soon, a parliamentary committee will begin an investigation into the vitally important issues arising from the Schofield saga? What chance, I wonder, of there being a similarly high powered investigation into excess deaths running at up 20% above average for the last few months?
I don’t think there’s a national obsession over this subject, it’s just the mindless media that’s throwing it down our throats! Time to wake up people!
I don't think MAY BE being a paedophile and definitely a groomer of young children is unimportant, or trivial do you. Or do you think it is? The worst form of depravity on this planet, and l know from experience. Its not only what's been going on at ITV, you know. Don't forget Mr Schofield.
Two simple questions for ITV and Schofield to answer. Is there an NDA in place that Schofields young lover had to agree to. If yes will They lift that NDA so the whole truth about what took place and when can be examined. At a stroke this will end all the speculation surrounding this whole issue.
Absolute sense from start to finish. His intelligence would leave every politician in the shade. Then again what does it take to be a politician....... we all know the answer to that!
There are a lot of media people who are now on the internet who feel they've been passed over by ITV and now see an opportunity to get their own back. They're sticking the knife in because of their own jealousy and resentment - they're settling old scores.
"What is the strange obsession", Well he cheated on his wife, he portrays himself on television as a do gooder when in reality he is an shady individual and quite decietful!
He's always wrong on NeoCon wars. From the Iraq bloodbath to wanting to keep the Ukraine war going ( its already been going on for 9 bloody years from after a Western/ NeoCon/ Victoria Nuland backed coup ).
Totally disagree - if Schofield self confesses that he is a pathological liar, then why should anyone "believe" he didn't groom or have s***al relationship with the child before the child became 18. If this was a girl, all hell would have been let loose so, yes, Schofield should be thoroughly investigated to exonerate him from being peadophilic like his brother. It is stupid of all of us to just take his word for it that he didn't engage in the act while the boy was a child or didn't groom the child - thoroughly investigate this man? Does he know or was he part of his brothers peadophilic escapades? These are legitimate questions that need to be cleared and we all move on? We can not just brush this away - there is probable cause to investigate to completely clear or prosecute. High profile people seem to get quick support - just imagine if it was an ordinary bloke or a girl involved? Schofield is a very high profile broadcaster, whether Douglas Murray agrees or not is irrelevant? That the broadcasters are heavy on this story is completely justified because millions are following the story? The broadcasters aim is to glue people to their platforms for more advert money or to be ranked as number one. TOTALLY DISAGREE with DM
Well Doug, we've had Savile, Rolf and Glitter. Pip enjoyed Thursday "playtimes" on the mat at his London pad, away from the gaze of his wife and children, with a young person, who he "mentored" from age 15, and who when aged 18 got the job as Pip's 'best boy' at ITV. ITV Management knew of the "rumours" since 2019, but covered up this highly "unethical" and sordid matter to protect the "brand(s)", similar to BBC management with Saville, Harris and Glitter earlier. Holly, knowing the above rumours about Pip which were common knowledge for years among her team, and following the guilty verdict of Pip's 54-year-old brother Tim last month, 12 year prison sentence for 11 sexual offences involving a child, took steps to protect her own brand and distanced herself from Pip. The lying, the deflection, the feigned ignorance to limit the damage to the principals ensued. No one in ITV management have given a fleeting thought to the young man's welfare or their legal duty of care to him.

And potentially illegal.
GB News and Talk TV would say they are giving the people what they want. I suggest that they are giving the people what they can't resist. Some of us long for the old days when news was news and journalists investigated and didn't share their opinions and commentators who had opinions were not competing for the limelight.
It at least gives us a rest from hearing all about Harry and Meghan
It does give them a way to trash their competitors
Instead of all this hatred, the media should be reporting on the important issues.
DM is always articulate, usually correct, a great listen - spot on Douglas
Except on the issue of Ukraine and its Nazi regime .....
Well done Douglas for exposing this sad cancel culture that is going on in the western world. As you say people would rather get someone sacked for the most trivial thing than talk about the real issues
Crap journalism!
Thank you, Douglas, I was beginning to think I was the only person thinking exactly as you say. It's the stabbing in the back from fellow celebs that is so ghastly to watch as well. May he that has never lied throw the first stone.
💯
I agree 100%. We have lost our way as a country
Douglas Murray simply the best.
As Matthew Goodwin says “We are not a serious country” 😢
True, this is nuts; in their world P. Schofield counts as a very important person.
Philip reaches a HUGE mainstream audience . Practically nobody knows Douglas, except in cliquey wierdo circles
@@adagietto2523 Yeah; Sunday Times: cliquey and marginal.
@@anonnemo2504 Parliament: another marginal clique, completely out of touch from the people
I don’t think there’s a national obsession over this subject, it’s just the mindless media that’s throwing it down our throats! Time to wake up people!
Not my throat...haven't read one article on it
Well said, Mr. Murray
Doulas I always enjoy your thoughts and spot on clarity
Here Here
I don't think MAY BE being a paedophile and definitely a groomer of young children is unimportant, or trivial do you.
Or do you think it is?
The worst form of depravity on this planet, and l know from experience.
Its not only what's been going on at ITV, you know.
Don't forget Mr Schofield.
I’m not going to lie I’m loving the Scofield scandal because I knew all the details three years ago. Nothing better than a I told you so!
Two simple questions for ITV and Schofield to answer. Is there an NDA in place that Schofields young lover had to agree to. If yes will They lift that NDA so the whole truth about what took place and when can be examined. At a stroke this will end all the speculation surrounding this whole issue.
I'm a LOT of a snob - trust me, but I was glued to the self righteous, smarmy Schofield flying too close to the sun (and I don't mean the newspaper)
Absolute sense from start to finish. His intelligence would leave every politician in the shade. Then again what does it take to be a politician....... we all know the answer to that!
Well said Dougie
Great commentary
Well said Douglas. I am in dispair.😊
It’s because he was married & now suddenly he is out & gay.
What's wrong with discussing the Good Morning etc... stars' fall from grace? Simply the fact that that discussion never seems to end!
There are a lot of media people who are now on the internet who feel they've been passed over by ITV and now see an opportunity to get their own back. They're sticking the knife in because of their own jealousy and resentment - they're settling old scores.
They're talking about this in NZ too!
"What is the strange obsession", Well he cheated on his wife, he portrays himself on television as a do gooder when in reality he is an shady individual and quite decietful!
As usual Douglas is right , I think the mainstream tv Is just a waste of time for everything even the news
He's always wrong on NeoCon wars. From the Iraq bloodbath to wanting to keep the Ukraine war going ( its already been going on for 9 bloody years from after a Western/ NeoCon/ Victoria Nuland backed coup ).
Probably especially the news…
Tintin has spoken, love him.
Douglas is able to articulate his well-thought-out opinions very well.
Well said.
Great statement.
Totally agree with him
So true.
