Finally! Someone does a video for dressing warmly and still look cute in cold climates! I live in Chicago, and I've been dressing warmly and looking super cute in the winter all of my life. I have a drawer full of different color tights when I do wear dresses and skirts, multiple pairs of boots and booties, and many sweaters, turtlenecks, and long sleeve layering shirts. These are my staples and everything else is the icing. I like how you styled the big scarf and will try that. Today it was 26 degrees - below freezing. No mini skirts for me! My legs would be numb by the time I walked from my house to my garage. 😂
Yes! I'm so tired of "winter looks" with crop pants and loafers with no socks. Nope. Absolutely not where I live. I want to see the boots and the layers, and the oversized coats!
I’ve been know to wear a heavy fleece lined nude tight with a sheer midnight or black tight over and knee high boots with long coat. Still really warm and allows a mini skirt or leather shorts. Great for walking out for dinner in Canadian cities but not great for dancing ( too warm).
I wear the camping wool knee high socks under my boots, the itchy kind that make your feet sweat, and a biking or running short with built in underwear when I mini-skirt in the winter. If it is sub zero, I wear leggings that have a wool or fleece liner instead of sheer tights, or sheer tights under the leggings. I also live in Chicago! Close to 40 years old. I might be ridiculously acclimated to it though, because when I was growing up I went to a Catholic HS where you weren't allowed to wear pants not even in the winter, until some years later after the parents complained.
The outfit with the mini leather skirt is gorgeous and Alyssa looks amazing...but if I wear that in temperature around 0 degrees celsius and need to stay outside for more than five minutes my legs turn blue and my teeth start chattering lol! I just can't, need thick preferably woolen pantyhose UNDERNEATH pants to stay warm, getting dressed in cold weather takes me a while with all those layers 😂
not a very 'winter ' looking outfit. It also looked a bit hoochie with the sheer tights, micro mini & tall heel boots - if the skirt were a tad longer and the boots low heel would be a classier look.
Coming from Finland, I know how it is and no way the sheer tights are enough. If it is below -5 then it is a long down coat and or wool coat but either double layer of 2 thights or thick wool tights. A fact. 😂 🥶 I am interested in the Sacha coat though for spring and autumn, what size are you wearing here? By the way I have the Gaspard in different colours but I tend to wear them on warmer days especially during spring and autumn When it is -20 I wear my thick alpaca sweater, not Gaspard as it is much thinner knit. 😊
Great video with amazing styling, as always. My favourite part: “I love when people have to guess whether I’m wearing pants or not”.. as a fellow 🇨🇦 I feel you.
Gorgeous options! I really enjoyed the neutral color combinations in addition to the warm weather layering. I live in NY and these outfits are not only beautiful but relevant to me. Ty!! Ciao!!
Thanks Alyssa for teaching me to be creative rather than consuming. I am starting to experiment with different combinations and really enjoying the process.Created a few combis unqiue to me. Look forward to more content from you.
Love your combinations. I would like to mention for people interested in sustainability or ethics, there are much better companies than sezzanne out there.
Thank you for getting Sezane on my radar. I've purchased a personalized marinere for them as well as a pair of lace up lug sole boots. So very happy with the fit and quality of these items!
No minis with short coat for me. Just too frozen to make it work. However, I loved how you took the mini and put a long wool coat over it. I remember wearing a mini once to a Christmas party and when I undid the coat, my friends all commented on the outfit-it was just such a surprise to be hiding something short under that long bulky winter coat.
I love the cute tights! My favorite outfit is the sailor type trousers with the striped, button up top. Thank you for showing us how to layer with style! -Michelle
Love your videos Alyssa!!! I would love if you could give me your tips on how to style a long sleeved sequin silver dress for NY party to look chic and minimal?😍🥰
Alyssa: "I add a little bit of colour with this scharf". OK... a 1,5 cm large red stripe in a grey and white scarf brings definitivly some colour in a neutral outfit! 😂
I’m in Colorado, so I really appreciate the cold weather ideas. I have decided to pack away all cropped pants and jeans - unless I can find a good pair of knee high boots (with a lower heel). Love both Sezane coats and want them, though my second hand cashmere peacoat is currently my fave. Thanks for the video and ideas!!
Love your videos Alyssa.you’ve completely changed how I style myself and how/when I shop. Thanks for introducing me to Sezane. I’m in love with the quality and longevity of their products and try to save up for the ‘gaps’ in my wardrobe now rather than following fast fashion trends!
You did a good job of talking through putting together looks for when the weather outside is frightful. The shorter length bottoms are great option for not ruining the hems during nasty weather or your footwear got to be seen. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now!
I loved this video Alyssa. You are adding pieces of quality and longevity to your wardrobe. I especially love all the pants and jeans on you. You always hit the mark with correct length for your body proportions ❤ I don't live in a cold climate at all now but have some gorgeous coats that I will never part with, as I may not live in this area forever...😅 Thank you for sharing and as always the wonderful inspiration 😊
That's the thing with coats - they're so expensive (because they're functional) so it doesn't make sense to pass them on unless they're falling apart (&/ or they don't fit you). I'm doing the same thing with all my coats, even though I'm no longer in Britain and instead a humid, subtropical climate 😂😅
Ladies, Check out Maggie’s organic cotton sweater tights!! I’m in MI and they are my go to for layering with dresses. They are high quality and fair trade too!! A northern staple for chic outfits.
Brilliant! Love Sezane and I love that you showed different groves! Live in Sweden and hat, scarf & groves is something I often use to play with different colours. As well as a hand bag. I would love to see more of this! ❤️
Great cute cold weather looks! I can’t get enough ideas-planning my birthday month in Livorno mid Jan-mid Feb and not quite sure what to expect…especially traveling from Sunny San Diego. Don’t want to over pack but a month of cold weather travel is challenging for me to plan! I appreciate your expertise ❤
You looked fantastic in everything, as usual! I just love Sezane, and I love when you model the pieces. I am interested in the Tom Coat, because of the way you styled it! The wide collar is so different and sets it apart from many coats out there. I am definitely buying the leontine, you even made that look sexy, more casual and relaxed. Great video!
I love the play of proportions. Great outfit inspiration! One of my favorite formulas is shorts, colored tights and tall funky socks. Top with a sweater and it's so cute and playful. I'm noticing a distinct lack of wide leg trousers in my wardrobe. I got some cheap ones from Amazon, but they went straight back because the quality was horrible! Those Marino trousers are adorable, but I CANNOT abide the lack of pockets, lol.
@@kjones2008 I've started adding pockets or extending too-small ones on my favorite existing pieces. Huzzah for sewing skills! But, it's a non-starter for an expensive NEW item to not already have them. Like I'm supposed to pay $200 for something that immediately needs to be altered?! Nah, not for me.
@@candicewaller403 how do you extend too small pockets? Wouldn't that require cutting the opening even bigger (which means the original finishing wouldn't be able to cover it all)?
@@JBUHJBUH I've done it on three pairs of jeans so far. Basically, yeah, you undo the bottom seam (or cut into it) and add enough extra material to deepen the pocket. Lots of hand-stitching to finish. I roll the seam allowance to encase the raw edges and fell it down. Too easy once you get the hang of it.
I wouldn't do that. I don't wear long underwear unless I'm going to be outside for hours. If I'm commuting to work or shopping, I'd overheat way too quickly if I couldn't take off the warm stuff quickly.
I am so glad I found you! I absolutely adore your style and all the tips and tricks you give!!! I would like to know where you bought your tights from the ones with the stars on them? Please keep doing what you're doing. I'm a fan, watching from San Diego California!❤❤❤ 💃

Sadly I no longer have to worry about dressing for snow and slush much anymore. No, I haven't moved; just the winters here in SW Indiana/SE Ohio are markedly warmer and milder.
Wish I could feel and dress that chic during wintertimes here, but with -25 degrees at most during the winter it's almost impossible to feel glamorous 😅 Maybe we can be more creative with fashion in the north during fall at least 🙃 Thanks for your useful tips!
Few to no skirts and dresses for me, I'm on a bicycle to work and it's not the easiest to pedal in :D But, I love the mini + oversize jacket look. Very cosy.
I'm wondering if those sheer tights would actually keep you warm in -30C but I know I wouldn't attempt it, unless I was just getting in and out of a car. Maybe fleece-lined tights?
I ordered so many coats from Sezane last winter and they were all wayyyy too big. I feel like petite women get screwed over by this ridiculous oversized trend.
Hello! I am also petite and have the Johnson coat, it is perfect! Another one that works is the Mederick, would love to have one ❤ one day! The other styles are indeed all bulky or oversized!
Bonjour de Montréal! Ça fait quelques clips que je regarde de ta chaîne en me disant... "Somehow this girl gets me"... Maintenant je comprends pourquoi! Abonnée! ;). (When in need of a "climb-tundra" outfit, knee high boots and mid thigh skirt is great... Nothing gets wet, and it is usually not that cold anyway...)
Love Sezane and the outfits! I'm still a bit confused as a Northern European (have lived in the UK, Ireland and Northern Germany) - Toronto is much colder than those areas, yet I still would find these outfits more suitable for the warmer shoulder season, let's say October and March...do we walk THAT much more in Europe? I would not wear thin tights and def add a warmer layer under the trousers, because I have to walk around outside at least 1-2 hrs each day. No chance of wearing heels on black ice and sleet, either ;)
I think some of the going out outfits are “car to bar” meaning you only have to walk from a cab or Uber. I live in a cold climate too and feel I can’t wear anything but snow boots walking because of ice and rock salt everywhere.
Torontonians walk a lot, but I think she was wearing the heeled outfits for lunch or dinner dates where you just have to be outside long enough to arrive at the venue, not daily chores, shopping, or commuting to work. Indeed, she showed off her super warm & flat boots with her off-white commuting outfit. I've definitely picked my way gingerly across a snowy sidewalk in high heels with bare legs in -10C weather in order to get to a club. 😂🇨🇦
Terrific styling for cold weather. I used to live in Chicago and remember the days I would have to bundle up. I no longer need to do that since I reside in Phoenix, AZ. How tall are you, Alyssa? I love the ecru trousers, but I am only 5' 1 inch tall. They would probably be too long on me. Both coats are beautiful. Do you plan to keep both styles? Thanks for your inspiration. I love Sezane. Have purchased several items from them over the past two years.
Interesting how the thin gloves give the message, "there's a delicate woman under all these layers" 😂 I never would have thought the gloves would make such a difference, but they do.
Thin gloves make you appear more elegant but they are generaly also not warming enough. I am looking for some that are thin, elegant AND warm but had no luck yet. 😢
Thank you for all your wonderful videos and for your free blog so glad I joined. I wrote down your latest fun 12 days of conscious consumption and plan to do each fun suggestion.
Love this video and your outfit combinations are so good! Thanks for sharing these formulas for cold weather climates since I find it difficult to “dress up” in winter and go full cozy mode for months on end. Too predictable! Would you mind sharing your black leather, shearling-lined, waterproof boots from Outfit combination #3? They could be lifesavers! Thanks!
Hi Alyssa, I hope you don’t mind me asking but how tall are you ? I love your ideas but at 5 foot…. That’s 152 cm and a 34, I find it difficult to find clothes that fit…especially coats. You always look so fantastic, and I like to try and look good so I’m wondering if some of the brands such as Sezane would be any good for me. I look forward to hearing from you Thanks ❤
Beautiful outfits but the mini skirt would definitely not work in our cold weather. If you put a full length coat with that outfit, you might get away with it if you were not walking a long ways outside.
It seems like so many TH-camrs are conscious slow fashion minimalists until they meet Sezane. Then it’s 6 new pieces every video, and selling to us. :(
That’s true and to be honest this concious buying is not very sustainable when trends are changing even faster. As someone in their 40’s and having lived 90’s and 2000s trends, I notice this especially. If you want to stay somehow in style, then it is new clothes every season, yes you can still shop your closet but you should have enourmous closet to already own all the styles… In fact 2nd hand and drifting has actually led to eveb more consumption in my country and that is not good either…
Find the absolute lack of color painful. In spring and summer, I wear all the grey and oatmeal that I want. In winter, I want deep yellows and greens and blues, crimson and berry reds. In winter, color makes me happy. I love your play on proportion, I hate the lack of color.
I am completly the same opinion. I love colours and even much more fo I wear and need them in winter. Everything is grey, rainly or snowy, most no sunshine all the day... 😒 Colours bring immediatly that good feeling again. I I'm not afraid to mix 2 or 3 bold ones together 😊.
I love your videos and these outfits are super cute, but I live in NYC and I would get hypothermia if I went out in a wool coat past December. And you are so tiny I don’t understand how this is keeping you warm. Once it’s below 0C it’s down only for me… and I exist in a uniform of sweater dresses and thermals (regular cute tights would never keep me warm enough)
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I wear wool coats all winter, even when it gets down to -30C. Still don't own any down jackets or parkas.
Does anyone know the black tall boots she’s wearing with the star leggings? I know she mentioned the name in a video once… just can’t find it! Thanks in advance!
I wear what makes me look and feel amazing. I don't follow social media, style trends and fashion "rules". I only support local and women owned businesses.
I personally think that couples who consider themselves a “brand” will fail eventually as the focus is all business. I also think a lot of them stay together longer than they would otherwise just for the money.

You always look so fantastic, and I like to try and look good so I’m wondering if some of the brands such as Sezane would be any good for me. I look forward to hearing from you Thanks ❤
Beautiful outfits but the mini skirt would definitely not work in our cold weather. If you put a full length coat with that outfit, you might get away with it if you were not walking a long ways outside.
positive comment for the algorithm
Oooh where are the boots from in outfit 3?? I need chic boots that can withstand Vancouver rain (and occasional snow) 😅
J’espère que tu as eu un beau séjour à Dunham. Je suis à St-Paul d’Abbotsford.
Hi Alyssa! What is the size of your beautiful leontine sweater? Thank you!
@daffidalswuli Alyssa said XS.
@@comealongcomealong4480oh thank you so much! How come I didn’t catch that! Haha.
😍10:51 😍
Does anyone know the black tall boots she’s wearing with the star leggings? I know she mentioned the name in a video once… just can’t find it! Thanks in advance!
Hi Jenny! They're Dear Frances:)
❤❤❤
I wear what makes me look and feel amazing. I don't follow social media, style trends and fashion "rules". I only support local and women owned businesses.
I like the styling of this brand, but the fabric/composition they use, prevents me from buying their clothes. Too much polyester.
I personally think that couples who consider themselves a “brand” will fail eventually as the focus is all business. I also think a lot of them stay together longer than they would otherwise just for the money.
I always love your videos, but the sponsored ones (especially clothing sponsored) feel contrived
Nice, but size 26…. With size 29/30 you look like huge snowball…
And Sezane? Who has it allready ?
The video title is weird?? lol
Haha “that are actually warm”? Or “that you already own”?
She's weird
