  • Following a frantic free agency period in the NFL, Fox Sports’ lead college football analyst Joel Klatt is back with his 2nd Mock Draft of the 2024 Draft season. He reveals where top QBs like USC’s Caleb Williams, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, UNC’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy will land and also predicts a major trade that shakes up his Top 5. His Mock Draft also includes Aaron Rodgers landing a big-time playmaker in New York, Justin Herbert getting a top-end pass catcher in Jim Harbaugh’s rebuild in Los Angeles and Patrick Mahomes adding a new weapon as the Chiefs begin their quest for a historic 3-peat.

The Seahawks essentially have no LG, and no remaining cap space, do you see Fautanu as a guard candidate?
Nevermind, you answered that. Remember, Troy had a lefty at QB. So he could maybe flip to the right side with ease. He's got the best footwork, and is the best technician in this draft. He's small though.

Joel - Love your analysis, to throw a contrary idea that I know has been discussed. If the Vikings will give up 2 firsts this year and one next year to go to the top 3. What about 3 firsts for Justin Herbert? The Jim Harbaugh era could in theory start off with JJ Macarthy at 5, the 11th pick for a WR, to go with 23 this year and 2 firsts the following year. They completely reset the salary cap with a Quarterback he knows and can build the team he wants from the ground up in fast order. As good as Herbert is, the value of a rookie contract, especially a rookie contract for a rookie that is already years into a system has plenty of value in itself.

It’s not wild in the least. Tua gave the dolphins no chance to win outdoors at KC. Their season will end automatically every year they go on the road in the playoffs. He also can’t beat teams over .500. Finally, they are already losing players for cap reasons. If they sign tua, they will lose all their good players. Still wild?

The NFL is much harder on the body than college, you have way more games to play, the players are bigger, faster. The Raiders have an identity, that’s how they beat the chiefs and that’s there mentality and defense and how they are ran by AP and Patrick Graham. Nobody is trading a 1st round pick for Tee Higgins, he just got the tag so he only has 1 year in contract and you’ll have to pay him which you wouldn’t do bc it’s a very good receiver class. Also the Packers DID wanna pay Adams they actually offered him more money then the Raiders. The Eagles are not likely to go Center. They already have a center in Cam Jurgens. Also a lot of love for the Chargers here, let’s not forget they haven’t done anything yet

He held the ball longer than anyone in the league, and outside of our Center, our O-Line last year was actually pretty good. Braxton and Wright are both young and good tackles. Tackles generally only get better with age so I expect them to be even more polished next year. I don't hate developing the O-line, but Tackle isn't where we need help and getting another Edge Rusher or another WR to help Caleb have even more options for targets seems like the better play to me. Agree with you about JPC! I fear the Seahawks or Jags will snag him away, before he gets to us. Center is an even bigger need than tackle. Ever since Pouncey retired it has been a gaping hole. We have Broderick Jones, and might even get a decent tackle in round two. Alternatively, we could perhaps jump up to get one. CB is another need, as is WR currently. The O-line has been a real weakness for years, so I’d prioritize that this draft given the depth.

I really want to see Joel Klatt go into detail about what throws he thinks Drake Maye can make that JJ McCarthy can't. He was talking about Drake Maye being able to do things that hardly anyone else can do, and I was certain he mixed up his JJ and Drake notes. If you put together a highlight reel of the all-time most unbelievable "how did he do that?" college QB plays, JJ McCarthy would have at least 3 plays in it, despite limited reps. If anything, the criticism of his game should be with consistency on some of the more everyday plays that top NFL QBs make.

    • @HerbHerman-le5ux
      @HerbHerman-le5ux 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I didn’t watch enough McCarthy to have a quality take on his play, but his athleticism and arm strength are incredible. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be better than Maye in the NFL, but to me it's really weird that Joel was suggesting that Maye has more of that special magic than JJ. With JJ, the question should be around whether he can maintain his college efficiency in the NFL, not whether he can make something out of nothing.

Penix Jr. choked in the Natty. But he is the best pocket passer of the bunch.

Mr Klatt, I was going to send in a video of my bench reps at 225. As a competing powerlifter though, my next meet is in May and Im in the middle of meet prep so it would really throw my training off. I did 225x29 last year for fun, paused reps haha but I knew when you said it, that you’d get soooo many people who could do it. I believe most of the guys who sent in are natty, as am I. So please, don’t bring that part into it! People are strong!

Pats should take JJ at 3. Other than MAYBE Caleb, Mccarthy is going to be the most successful NFL QB of this drwft class. He knows how to win games. As a starter, he lost 1 game. While he almost certainly won't be the next Brady, I can see him being the next Flacco and be a long-term solution for wherever he goes capable of winning a superbowl or 2

Wild takes today. I wouldn’t be surprised if Caleb turns out to be far less as advertised. And drake may is the second coming lol. 😂 I love football and I want the most out of the sport but let’s start by being realistic. The NFL and ncaa are two different beasts

If you look at the film under a microscope I truly don’t believe Caleb is a generational talent. They are playing literal highschool level defenses and that’s not an exasperation whatsoever. They are about to be exposed defensively over the next half decade in the big ten

I want Dejean to end up a Lion. Love his game, love his versatility as a returner. Ben Johnson could cook something up for him as an option on offense as well for special occasions

Drake Maye might be able to make throws that others can’t but so can I. It’s just that my throws are uniquely horrible. 😂

Maye is the undisputed second choice QB in this draft imho. He will have an excellent NFL career and will be up there with Caleb in the long run I suspect.

Troy Franklin had more yards than Harrison Jr and more TDs than Odunze. Chiefs get a massive steal

I'm going Nabers in that scenario if I'm the Bears. Protection for an often injured Allen, plus you need 3 WRs anyway. Braxton Jones also isn't a liability at LT and still has room to grow as a young player.

While i resect your opinion, your lack of knonwledge with the Raiders is kind of shocking.Doon't have a direction? They added a top 3 DT to the #9 defense(Points Allowed) in the league and have some weapons on offense. They could use a CB opposite Jack Jones and an RT if those spots arent filled in FA. The big quesation is the QB. But that is literally it.
