I find cats' love of routine, and their tendency to be absolute creatures of habit, to be one of the most adorable things about them. My two cats have a keen sense of time, and every night around 8 o'clock they both appear at the treat basket and give me The Look. Because they're older and rather set in their ways, I keep their preferred napping chairs, scratching post, etc. in the same places. And while the cats clearly like being with my husband, and he has always loved them (and he's the one who feeds them at least half the time), we know I'm their preferred person for cuddles and pillow-sharing.
I have three cats, one that I had since he was a kitten, and I can do anything with him. He hangs out in my lap, loves to be with me. Another, a tabby, was maybe a year old when I got him. He’s very friendly but never gets in my lap but he purrs at me like mad and nuzzles me over and over all the time. The most recent one was a tiny black feral kitten who showed up on my deck crying and shivering on Halloween a year ago. She's a bit spooky but sleeps on my bed almost all the time and likes to be in the same room I’m in. The only time she spent on my lap was when I’d been in the hospital for a week. When I came back she snuggled in my lap over and over for a couple of days. Yep, they’re all very different.
My cat purrs when I am around her. Loves to be petted and brushed. She sleeps on my bed and purrs all the time, but won't let me pick her up and won't sit on my lap😒. A friend gave her to me when I lost my previous cat. The cats Mother lives on a farm, my cat was a tiny kitten when I had her. She loves the outdoors, we have fields behind us. She's 14 years old now. The only time she sat on the sofa beside me was when I was ill. Love her. My little friend. But wish she was a lapcat.❤
Blessed with 😺😸 who were rescued/rehabilitated as kittens from a feral colony. (That was last summer.) Due to an infection in the colony, each has only one eye but are otherwise perfectly healthy (which is fine bc I wanted a bonded pair of indoor cats). They both are affectionate and don't seem to miss the "wild" life at all. Lady Tabbitha is purring in my lap right now. Her sister (?) Ms Calicatt definitely takes her turns and is almost aggressively affectionate: she has this move where she jumps from the floor into my lap and straight up to a mutual chin rub, then flops back on her side across my arm to be petted. They've been with me for two months, and they are delightful! Even when not in my lap, they are in the room with me and follow me through the house. I am grateful for and amazed by how completely/quickly we've become a loving, compatible family 😊 (BTW, both girls r in my lap now) What wonderful joy 🤗😄😁🙂 cats are!!! Our Snowball (American, domestic shorthair) tends to follow whoever's up. My wife is a "day person" often awaking at or before sunrise. I was on 2nd shift (15:00 - 24:00), but when I got home, Snowball would mostly follow me around; hence we called her a "puppy cat"!

I have a neighborhood rescue stray. He's indoor/outdoor I let him out b/c he came from outside and this is not a prison ( my apt) but I am learning ( having) unconditional love with Tabby b/c I wish he would stay indoors more with me. He likes to go out a lot.
It's wonderful that you have such a caring attitude towards your rescue cat! Building a strong bond with Tabby is key to encouraging him to spend more time indoors with you. You could try creating a comfortable indoor environment for him, providing plenty of toys and activities to keep him stimulated, and gradually reducing his outdoor time while rewarding him for staying inside. Patience and consistency will be important as you work on transitioning him to more indoor time. 💜
Tabby and I have been on/off for several yrs now. I have 2 boxes ( in a studio) for him, vertical spaces, hiding places and climbing things for him.. he doesn't climb much ( I think he's older) I live on ground floor and can see him out back in the courtyard. there's a cat cubby out there also. He is a Tom and I made a difficult but researched decision to keep him that way. FTR I have not seen one homeless kitten in the cat colony I have been here 14 yrs.@@TheCuriousCatt
@@TheCuriousCatt Update: Fancy Feast .. I kid you not , so long as I have Fancy Feast on hand. he barely leaves my side!! I know it's not the best diet but I am supplementing with probiotic , high protein .. kibble and add purified water to the dish .
Took in 2 cats, they are sisters, last August and one nearly becoming my best friend in just a few days but then decided to follow her sister into hiding in the basement ceiling. They were both there for around a month until we caught one in a cage trap, the other one lasted up there until just last week due to a plan to trap her so she couldn't go back into the depths of the basement ceiling. The first cat was very friendly to me once out of the ceiling and we had a habit where i would pick her up and hold her briefly and then she would get brushed, though when the new year started she became very secluded where we had her shut in. Her sister is currently in a small cage where she has her litter box, food and water until we have covered everywhere they could potentially hide in the basement before we start letting them roam free. She has become very friendly since we got her out and will give small love nips. Hoping things get better once they can explore the house and find out we have windows on the first floor.
We adopted a 2 year Black Cat from a local shelter and she follows me everywhere . She gets depressed when I leave the house . I feed her and clean her litter box . I pet her as much as she permits and play with her when she wants to play . I think I am her favorite . She doesn't like to be picked up by anyone . Not even me .

My girls has had her cat for 18 years. I moved in with her a few months ago. Now her cat wants nothing to do with her and lives on my lap. My girl is passed! Lol
I actually house sat for my parent last year not long after they go a 6 week old kitten. They were going to leave him alone and have someone come in to keep him company twice a day (morons). I ended up staying at their place the entire time they were away. When they got back he actually ignored them and even got up from my mum's lap, walked across the table and curled up on mine.. It was hilarious, it was basically his way of giving her the middle finger. Now each time I go over the their place the little guy follows me around and I play with him. I think my little sister and I are his favourite people.
If a cat only wants something to do with the "owner" when it wants food but always wants the attention of the other person in the home that doesn't really like her what does that mean. I give attention to her, make sure her litter box is always clean, play with her whenever she wants to most of time and we do have 2 scheduled play sessions every day, i do my best to be on her schedule as far as feeding time, playtime,massage and rubdown time,etc.She even gets her channels in the tv schedule. I make sure all her needs are taken care of. When i first got her st 5 months old I couldn't be out of her sight without her literally crying for me. She was on my shoulder or under my chin laying between my breasts any time i was sitting down. I couldn't go to the restroom or shower without her following she would meow (talk)to me the whole time i was showering. Im puzzled as to why she's being the way she is towards me now. I can't think of anything i may have done to provoke her avoidance of me unless she wants snacks or meals. She isnt even wanting playtime with me anymore it's always her wanting the other persons attention even tho they shoo her away or bark like a dog at her. She even waits on the porch for him when it's close to his time to get home and if he's late she paces and whines about it until he does come home and he pays her no attention even tho she's rubbing against his leg- he just tells her to go away. Any suggestions on what i can do to bring us close together again? We were so close at first but for the past 6 months or so she's made me feel abandoned and unloved by her. What do i do?
By the grace of God Almighty, All cats love me n trusts me. I can make any cat mine in 2 days... I did this to my then girlfriends cat n she still hates that fact... She renamed her cat TRAITOR. I then renamed her Queeny.
