    I want to leave here my thanks to SER ILLUMINADO kIRK'S MOTORRADA SHOP, my Bmw k 1200lt was stopped, due to the abs brake it didn't work anymore and I almost had a very serious accident because it failed when I needed it. so I left it still until I watched the video of our FRIEND KIRK and I managed to delete the abs system from mine and I'm walking again and since here in Brazil there are no restrictions on the original accessories I'm happy thanks Kirk.

    I just got done a large portion of the abs delete Thanks to you Kirk. You are the man. Thank you for your videos on the K bikes. I own a 2002 K1200rs and a large portion of the work done on it is because of your videos. Keep it up!

    Ready to buy my first K12 thanks to Kirk's videos. The ABS was the main system I am concerned with. Kirk's experience shared here is a gift to the community. Thank you.

    Kirk performed this with my ‘04 LT that I thought was a goner. 18 months later she brakes just as fine as all the non ABS bikes I had prior to her. If you don’t feel confident doing it yourself, rent a U-Haul MC trailer for $15/day and visit Kirk. It was well worth my two round trips from northeast Ohio! 👍🏼

    Kirk!!! Good to see you again. I believe it’s been a while.
    Always enjoy watching you do these and I’m under the impression you could do this blindfolded or sound asleep. Just wanted to say, nice touch with the purple plant on the bench. It screams you!! Keep up the good work.

    I did the bypass on my 05. On the front disconnected the abs and went from the reservoir to the caliper via the split connector . On the back went straight form pump to caliper. I left the abs lines intact in case prices ever come down . on problem i have is no brake light . Ill watch Kirks deal and see if he address that .. Love his videos

    So if you cut the Brown/red, Brown/yellow and Black/white wires on the module that will eliminate your blinking issue.

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the wiring harness attached to the ABS or in back of the dash?

      Wiring harness at the ABS module.

      Are you certain this works with all years? My 2000 still has the ABS light blinking, and cutting these would be easy enough with a long set of snips. But, getting in and repairing them would be another story.

    I "recently' bought a K1200LT that was dealer seviced and had Just been servied when I bought it. Steel brake lines and Everything....but the ABS was blinking. .... I decided to service it myself and changed the oil, water, etc. When I bled the brakes I found the problem:: The dealer forgot to top off the reservoir after bleeding and it was at minimum. So now everrything is OK.

    Are the early model equipped with the passive ABS, the one that if it fails you can brake the same? If yes till what year of manufacturing? Interested to buy one but prefer with passive ABS, like the one I have on my 2000 RT1100. Thanks for your video and suggestions.

    Hey. I have a question. Have owned a k1200lt for 2 seasons now, but in the winter the hevy snow broke the shelter where my k1200lt was hibernating and that broke the windshield and the mechanism for the raising for it. Can you give me pointers where to look for a new(used) windscreen mechanism. The k bike was mine and my wife's getaway bike. So i'd like to ride it this season again.

    This is another great video! Just finished installing the kit on my K1200 (2000 model year - non integrated ABS). I pulled the relay and disconnected the controller unit from the ABS. However, I'm still getting a slow flash on my ABS dash light. Anyone have a suggestion on what this could be? All other lighting is working well - no additional dash lights besides the ABS.

    I have two questions 1. By using this kit l will lose link brakes correct. 2. how much more additional force does it take to apply the front brake compared to the standard with the power assist. Thanks

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, you will have standard brakes. They work exceptionally well. I would say even better and more predictable with better feel!

      I have a 2003 Lt, and a 2003 RS. iABS failed on both bikes, despite annual fluid changes! On both bikes, there were no prior symptoms, and the failure was sudden without any warning. I agree with Kirk, the standard LT brakes work very well after iABS removal. Predictable, positive braking, not grabby on loose surfaces.. and no longer the constant worry of sudden iABS failure, and "residual braking"! Read that as NO BRAKES!!

  • @chemact1285
    @chemact1285 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fortunately here in Spain we have a company that restore all the internal components of the iABS modulator, motors, pressure sensors, transistors, software uptdating. I would not ride such a heavy bike without an ABS system.

      The electronic box must be replaced to the bike once you remove it from the pump. Are you sure it was working prior to removing it? Does the horn work? It is on the same circuit.

    Unrelated question since you are knowledgeable: I have a 2014 K16GTL with about 30K miles. I'm getting a rattle from the motor at about 2500/3000rpm off throttle, particularly at startup. I run AMSOIL metric oil. I haven't checked the valves yet. Is this most likely a tappy/happy valve due to excessive clearance or is it more likely to be a cam chain tensioner failing? Thanks for any guesses LOL.

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Metric oil? More of Amsoil’s goofy marketing. I’ve never heard of a metric motorcycle. Is that a new brand? 😂

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you had the valves adjusted once already? If you haven’t, then I would do that first as you are overdue.

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would get the valves checked but it sounds like a bad chain tensioner. They are pretty easy to change.

    • @jeffshootsstuff
      @jeffshootsstuff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kirksmotorrad Thank you. The forum experts (for what that's worth LOL) all say it's not worth even checking the valves at 18K and many don't do it at 32K either. I guess I will, but I agree the most likely thing is the tensioner. I appreciate your response.

    With so many problems with the ABS system and unhappy customers who remove the ABS system you might ask why BMW are still persisting building ABS on their bicycles ..... At least they could make it an option and leave the choice to the customer. The world is complicated enough without ABS. Let us not make it more costy and more complicated than necessary.
    And maybe BMW could pay more attention to the messy layout under the tupperware including the quality of the paint.
